I am building a new system and wanted a decent video card with lots of graphics memory (I run 3 monitors).

Having read about frame stutter/lag issues on all the latest ATI 7900 series cards, I decided I'd go back to Nvidia despite all the great game bundles with AMD cards…

I chose the ASUS GTX670-DC2-4GD5. It has fantastic custom cooling which should extend the life of the card and also prevent overheating. The 3 year warranty is international and there is an ASUS service centre in Silverwater, NSW.

All Australian retailers want over $500 + postage.

You can get it from Amazon.com for $448.98 USD delivered - which is less than $440 AUD on current exchange rates.

Good deal for those like OP who game above 1080p.

(Obligatory warning for the non-technical, though: this is a pretty high-end card and so hasn't got the very best price-performance ratio. A $180 HD 7850 2GB will run games at much better than half the speed of this one for much less than half the cost - see http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/549?vs=598 - and at 1080p, it will play almost all games at max settings until after the new consoles are out.)

    You need a 4GB card for 3 monitors? I'm running 6x off 2 640s with no issues.

I'm assuming he's gaming on those monitors, not just having ten browser windows open. With a resolution over 6MP, you're going to need some decent power to run that.

  • If using a single monitor, you would be hard pressed to find any game that utilizes anything above 2gb at the moment. However this could change down the track…

but the op's using 3 not one hence his choice

  • The Amazon page also mentions that you get a free copy of Metro Last Light if you buy this card, so that's about $40 extra value.
