Bought one of these today for $62.40 through JB. Plugged it into my PC and its downloading a firmware and a free map update. Seems like a good deal for a branded GPS.

Ebay should never be used as sole source for price comparison, especially with regards to outdated gear

Clearance at DSE and GoodGuys for $79

Doesn't make this any less of a deal though

      • Ebay buying is for suckers who often pay more than rrp

  • Is it lifetime free map update?

    • No, you get one free map update by July 19. I know. I just bought one for $79 from Dick Smith!!! :(

    • check out the gpsunderground forums ;)

  • Bought a tomtom 620 for 150 at HN today =)

    • We did a side by side comparison between this and our TomTom (750) on a 400k trip.

The Garmin won. The arrival time was more accurate, and the 'shortest route' was shorter.

  • This is a great price. I got this for $99 a few months ago, with free lifetime updates. Very happy.

Please note, this is a budget entry GPS.
Pros - Brightness is pretty good.
    - Best user interface (IMHO). Very simple and intuitive. Navman was confusing (comparatively speaking).
    - Unlike some of the other branded GPS units, searches can be performed by street name alone (and then selecting suburb later as an option). This is quite useful because sometimes you may have only an approximate suburb name e.g. Salisbury Plains, Salisbury North, etc. which makes it a pain to go through if the GPS only accepts suburbs first, then street names second.
    - Has POIs e.g. restaurants, food and drink, transport, shopping, lodging, parking, hospitals etc.

Cons - It does not have bluetooth connection to mobile phones.
    - No orientation control (ie. can't change between portrait and landscape modes)
    - Is not eligible for Lifetime Map Updates (although you can update your map once sometime before July 19, 2013), unless you happened to buy it in the last 6 months of last year (when I think they were having a promotion for free map updates).
    - Doesn't have FM traffic updates for rerouting
    - Doesn't have rear camera connection.

    • If I didn't already have the Nuvi 50 $88 @ JB, then you would have sold me.
