  • nice price.

I've had one of these for 5 years.

replaced battery with one off ebay for $3 2 years ago.

    can't fault it.

a replacement battery at DSE is $25-ish

Why is uniden a bad choice? They have been a reputable brand for years I thought.

    • Panasonic are fine, but that model for $30 lacks a speakerphone and answering machine. So not exactly comparable.

    • The Panasonic and Telstra have no answering machine.

The next model up of the Telstra has an answering machine for $37, but then that is 37% more than this deal…
      http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Pho…

(The goodguys got the description for the Telstra wrong, just check any other site)

      • The Panasonic and Telstra have no answering machine.

true, sorry i wasn't paying enough attention :(

  • can anyone recommend a cheap, three handset, 1.8GHZ (im assuming this is what people call a "wifi-friendly" frequency?) cordless phone?

So far it looks like this is a good option: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/phones/cordless-home-phone/telstra/…

But am keen on a panasonic set around the price of telstra.

    • I am not an expert but recall that the wifi friendly was 5.8ghz

    • Why not get this with 2 extra handset pack http://dicksmith.com.au/product/F3037/uniden-dect3035-2-cord…

Why pay for something with Telstra branded on it!

      • is this better than the telstra model though? i keep hearing uniden is poop but this is all unqualified…

      • Simple: it is much cheaper to buy 3 of the current deal for $78.66. Why spend $97.96 and have only one base station? :-P

        • great idea - can i pair the other two handsets with the one base station?

        • I thought you couldn't pair the ones that come with answering machines with another answering machine station? If not I stand corrected.

        • true dect handsets should be able to be registered to any dect base station regardless of brand/model

  • Sydney George St out of stock

  • Does anyone know if these have to be plugged into a telephone socket? or can I link it up with my existing Uniden phone system (got the main unit plus 2 wireless phones already)

    • Each to their own socket. Or as we say in the industry, to their own holes in the wall.

    • if your existing system is also dect then the handsets from this should connect with its base station fine or vice versa

Don't forget this Telstra 6.0 DECT 9350 with an Answering Machine, if you can find one…

    • Thx. Reserved the Telstra one from Miranda.

    • Thanks, Reserved one from Doncaster - The Pines

    • Thanx for that, got the last one (display stock) they had in Smithfield, Cairns.

  • Can two extra handsets be added to this one?

  • Whats the current model Uniden? like the latest one?

  • Great phones, but the batteries are shite…expect to replace them at least annually! :s

    • +1
      • Yep, I switched to the Panasonic equivalent (but 5.8HGz) back then. I actually haven't replaced a single battery yet, despite one of the main purposes of the exercise being easy (AA) replacements! :)

Ozpete put me onto Panatech in Tuggerah, who were great…the young girl there looked like she was on school work experience, but she sure knew her phones! ;)

  • Good deal, does anyone know of any other good deal for a single handset but without an answering machine?

  • Picked up the last phone at Dick Smith it was actually ex display stock. Nice price but. However for some reason the phone can't currently locate the base set for some reason. Wonder if it's because the battery was flat out of the package and needs fully charging first?. I guess the manual says to charge the handset for 15 hours before use.

    • You normally need to pair the handset to the base station

      • I see i'll need to find out how do that. I suppose i should wait since the user manual says to charge the phone hand set for 15 hours before use.

        • I got the same problem! Bought display stock and now the headset just says "searching".

          Did you figure it out?

    • +1

read the manual about de/registering handsets from/to base stations

  • I now only buy cordless phones which use normal AAA rechargable batteries. The custom batteries are quite expensive to replace. Does anyone know what type of battery these use?

    • The phone uses a custom Uniden battery. It's this one available from Dick Smith but not cheap at $26.98 to replace. It's amazing how the replacement battery costs more than what you can currently buy the phone for and it comes with one.

      http://dicksmith.com.au/product/S4446/uniden-bt694-cordless-…

So this phone would not be for you.

      • Like inkjet printers, you buy replacement phones, not batteries.

  • Make sure you ring ahead even if website shows stock as I just had to buy the display model due to the store not actually having stock to fulfil a click and collect order.

    • Yeah i had to ring ahead since it was showing as low stock and wouldn't do a click and collect but so i found out there was only one display stock available so i got them to put it away for me. So the Rockhampton QLD store is completely sold out now since i bought the last one there. I didn't want to travel 43.3km to the Yeppoon QLD store to get one there.

  • Well that leaves a sour task in my mouth… click and collect for a store in WA that is showing a green "stock" on website. They call me and say they only have the display, to which I saw that fine as long as it works.

Get home with the unit and the handset wont find the base, so now it seems like they have just given me some random handset and the phone doesn't work.

Will leave it on the charger overnight and see what happens.

    • read the manual about de/registering handsets from/to base stations

      • First place I looked, nothing about that in there.

I googled and found some instruction for that though so will give it a shot.

        • Yeah i looked through the user manual and on page 21 it says to register the hand set to the base to place it on the base but that's what i did to begin with. I was also given an ex display stock and it won't find the base either. The battery is now fully charged. Yet to find out how to get it working.

        • same :(

I think the handsets have been swapped with other models while on display and its never going to work…

Pretty angry with DS for selling me this junk and wasting my time.

        • It should be the right model handset for the phone. Refer to my post down below. It shows you how to de-register your hand set and to get it registered onto your base which you've got. That should make you a happy camper now. It made me a happy camper :)

    • You know what's happened. A bunch of staff members have grabbed all the in stock items and shoved them away for themselves forgetting to update the stock status.

  • Uniden phones. the batteries will be the killer not the handset.

I would not get any cordless phones that does not use standard AAA batteries.

  • Apparently it was in stock in lots of SA stores but when you actually go there/ring it turns out its demo/repaired stock. Only one in SA was St Marys and when one store rang they said they had no stock either. Another DSE waste of time.

    • That's weird because when i went to buy an extra one of those $9 Polaroid camera which was on clearance recently from Dick Smith even though it was showing as green in stock at the store they claimed that they were all warranty returns and couldn't sell them. Yeah what a load of crap more like the staff members grabbed them all to place aside for themselves and making up a lame excuse to tell customers asking about it.

Basically when the staff member is claiming repaired stock/warranty return they're basically lying to the customer.

  • Dunno why you're getting excited about this cheap phone. It gets a drubbing over at Productreview.

  • +1

It appears my ex display handset has already been registered on another base as it's saying searching but doesn't find the base. They've just thrown in a hand set which has already been registered on another base.

I've found the answer how to de-register the hand set and get it registered onto the base which you've got. Press END and # buttons on the hand set at the same time for about 5 seconds until System Reset menu appears. Scroll until Base Unavailable appears. Select that by pressing the Menu button and then scroll until Yes appears and press the Menu button to select it. It should not say Handset not registered place handset on base to register. Now just simply place the hand set on the base and it should start registering it and after a few seconds say Registration Complete and make a short beep. It should be working now.

That should help those who bought their ex display phone and am having the same problem.

    • I made a spelling mistake i meant to say "It should now say Handset not registered place handset on base to register"

    • Sticker under the battery of the handset says 3015 and not 3035….they gave me the wrong handset.

      FFS!!!

      • +1

The sticker under the battery compartment on my handset says 3015 and it's the correct handset and i bought mine from a completely another store in another state on the other side of the country. It's working just fine. Actually the Uniden DECT3015 and DECT3035 use exactly the same handset as they are the same model family just the DECT3035 being the bigger brother with a few more features on the base like the answering machine which the DECT3015 lacks but otherwise as i said exact same handset used on both. As in universal handset used on every phone in the same model family. I bet every one's handset here says 3015 under the hand sets battery compartment. You're worrying over nothing.

Did you follow the instructions i posted for de-registering the handset and then registering it onto the new base?. Follow those instructions and the phone will work fine.

        • I had already tried that about 5 times and it hadn't worked.

I realised that the instructions I had been following off the net didnt say to press the menu button to select like your instructions do. i.e. was using the talk button I think.

I tried your way and it worked, phone is now registered and working.

I cant believe the phones manual doesn't even mention or provide instructions for doing that.

Thanks anyway man, saved me wasting time taking it back. cheers

        • That's where you went wrong you have to press the menu button to select an option not talk button. Good thing it's working now.

  • OMG, just purchased a other phone 3 weeks ago cost me $59. :(

    • Bad luck. Pays to wait for clearance prices. Replaced my crappy old Uniden DECT1035 phone. I paid $26.22 for mine :)

      • Yeah, very bad luck, I should visit this website EVERYDAY!!!!

        • *every hour

  • Harvey Norman Caringbah have the telstra 9850 dect (WIFI friendly, answer machine) half price $34. I also noticed some unidens on sale for $15 didnt note model.
