"Overall impression is that we’d kill to have one of these on our desk at home. The high-quality Samsung screens, thin bezels and best-in-class stand surprised us with just how neat and well engineered this product is. A 3-monitor array retails for $2,999, with a 6-monitor setup at $3,999."

Just don't forget who you're working for

      • What did you say? Like they don't already know that? Are you saying that they're stupid?

  • Good price. If only!!! This beast would need a lot of power and a good gpu

  • if my desk was bigger

    • +4

      Desk or room?

Room size might be an issue.
Desk is not - the footprint of the monitor stand wouldnt be much different to any other setup.

    • -2

Follow you!! and give a vote for the hot deal!

  • Looks nice.

Rep: any chance of doing any triple monitor deals like this? I know I'd be interested and I'm sure I'm not the only one. However for me personally, I'd be wanting 24" and need 16:10 not 16:9. But such a deal would be hard to pass up on :)

    • +1

I reckon 3 monitors in portrait mode would be a good setup; I agree on the 16:10 aspect but they are so hard to find now, portrait mode would address that.

The setup offered here is so impressive, especially at the price, but I'm not sure how practical it would be for work; you'd get tennis neck looking around so far. Awesome for games/flight sim etc though.

Compare this price to 14years ago when I paid $1000 for a single 19" crt, and it was a good deal at the time lol.

      • +6

You obviously should have checked OzBargain and price matched at Officeworks.

Edit: Officeworks only introduced price-matching in 2008, so you would have been 9 years early.

      • +1

pfft I spent a grand on a 15" LCD and that was half the going price back in 2000. You'd balk at how much I spent on a Sony 21" monitor in the 90's…

        • +2

My Viewsonic 21" CRT was $3340 on special when I bought it in 1997.

        • +2

Grabbed a Gateway 21" monitor for about $1100 myself in either late 1999/2000. It's amazing what sort of display setup you can get for that money these days.

    • +3

We picked up a modest number of the 3 screen version.

      http://www.computeralliance.com.au/samsung-3-x-23-lcd-multi-…

Thats a good price and I expect our corporates to pick those up quickly. It was a much smaller batch and can't do a better price on those.

  • +1

only thing i worry about with six is wouldnt the cross hair be in the middle of the 2 middle monitors, i know with 2 monitors its in the middle…

    • +5

That's where you need another row of 3, so the crosshair would be right in the middle of the middle monitor.

Good luck finding a capable gpu, especially for crysis lol

      • Or just go for a triple projector set up…

    • You have the option to set these up in portrait mode, and just use 5 screens for gaming.

    • +7

just draw the crosshairs on the bezel with a crayon

  • +7

Now all i need to do is learn how to day trade so i can actually afford these monitors….

    • +7

You might need to buy the real estate first to accomodate them…just a suggestion

    • +2

Funny you should mention that, I know a day trader with a 9 monitor setup. He has plenty of space in his overseas mansion to fit them all… Lucky Ba$t4d! :)

      • +9

So that's where all my money went to :(

        • +6

Lol… yeah probably, wait why am I laughing, my money has disappeared too :(

  • +1

    Holy shit ballz!

  • Over the last hour I've been trying to decide if its really worth it.. I currently have a 3x 27" setup, so 6 monitors would be awesome.. however, I think what really kills it is that it'd be useless in a FPS.. i could certainly use 6 monitors :) awesome.. awesome price tho and well done computer alliance..

    • +10

Woah, 3 monitors is good enough!

Lol it'd be great for plagiarising uni assignments - can have two documents open on both the side monitors, and cut and paste from each into the centre document :P

          dem onions.

        • +14

Vladdo, your shelves appear to be full of shit from OzBargain over the past 5 years.

        • +6

Aedeau, if you didn't have that fourth monitor you would have NO idea whether the 9c onions were worth it or not.

        • +2

the onions.. u killed me.. lol!

        • old photo, 25-02-2013 so there is plenty of extra ozbargains on those shelves now. and btw, your clock on the wall is slow

        • I am not even going to ask what is with the box of alcohol wipes sitting there…

        • They're useful to clean monitors i assume.

        • nice setup.

        • keyboard and laptops mainly. I refuse to touch a laptop before it has seen at least 2 or 3 alco wipes.

        • I've got more and it cost much less

So you're the one causing those power outages…

        • Nice command centers. Where's the CB radio guys? By any chance, does any of your names happen to be 'Warlock' too?

        • +1

          Broden, is that you?

        • The only thing clean in that room are the monitors…

  • What sort of graphics card would you need to run this - links please if possible

  • +4

This is a cheap price. We have two of these at work. We run them with the Eyefinity with 6 mini DP connectors. For most people the 3 monitors setup would be better for gaming, and doing work. Also this 6 monitors setup is heavy, make sure you have a heavy duty computer desk to support the weight. Some cheap computer desks will sag and break under this much monitor real-estate.

I got a 3x27 inch LCD setup with a Ergotron monitor stand, which cost about 2 times the price of this 6 monitors setup.

6 monitors is great if you are doing daytrading or have to do heaps of spreadsheet stuffs.

Would love to get this one if i have not already overspent on my computer gadgets this month.

  • +16

Desire is conversely proportionate to need. I want this.

  • what I concern is the colour gamut. If it has nice colour like the dell ultrasharp monitor, the price is reasonable. or else, we should look for others

    • +1

It's already a reasonable price. If it had the colour gamut of ultrasharp IPS displays it would be much more than reasonable price.

Think you need to look for other options, but be prepared to spend.

  • this thing is a beast

  • +1

Damn, I think my dad would be all over this for his daytrading (he currently uses 3 x 27"), but he's overseas on holiday and it's 3AM where he is. Tempted to pull the trigger myself and suprise him when he gets back. :P

    • +31

      You can surprise me too..

      here is my address…

  • just bought one, showed to gf, and she said " buy it, for your birthday gift"
now i need a display card that can run this
    any recommendation?

    • -1

You'll need several display cards to run this. At least 2 way SLI/XFire on current gen cards, probably 3 way on last gen (5XX/6XXX)

      • +2

no you don't. Unless you want to game at super high quality. An eyefinity 6 edition card is enough. Look at the Ebay link on the top.

      • SLI/Xfire disable the ports on auxiliary cards. That would make adding the extra cards kind of pointless :P

        • Yep you just want 1 card with 6 mini display ports.

        • Not pointless as the extra card would still contribute processing power…

        • You don't need SLI or crossfire to run this, though, which was the original question. You'd certainly want crossfired 7990's or something similarly ridiculous if you wanted to game on these, though :)

    • 2x 7970 or the upcoming 7990.

    • +20

showed to gf, and she said "buy it, for your birthday gift"

When a girlfriend says something like that, you know she's a keeper!

      Put a ring on it!

      • +15

Catch was, she isn't intending to pay.

Secretly, she's just warming him up to the idea of being in debt. She'll have years of fun keeping him there.

        • +1

Yes, I can foresee years of nagging about this one purchase. She is well and truly seated for this ride. Ah the circle of life!

      • +2

Sorry UFO - the - was meant to be a +
having a few drinks and the damn mouse moved!!

  • reviews confirmed my thoughts for gaming - those bezels. If only. would be great for productivity

  • +1

    Handy for massive spreadsheets!

    • +1

      and Imax movies…

      • +2

        and checking email!!!

  • +1

Can a 7950 run all these monitors? Not for gaming, just normal usage (epic spreadsheets)

  • I have 3x27 screens atm, 6 screens wrecks it for FPS games also instead of buying a stand, in DIY Ozbargin fashion I made my own for around 80 bucks after raiding bunnings and ebay. ALSO SOMEONE THINK ABOUT THE POWER COSTS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

    • +3

      Approximately: (assuming around 31c/kWh)

      8.5c per hour
      $1 per 12 hrs
$250/yr running every day for 8 hrs

Without taking into consideration costs of powering the machine running them.

      • +1

        marry me?

  • +2
    1. Buy monitors.
    2. Snap photo and post to r/Battlestations
    3. ???
    4. KARMA Profit!
  • +3

You could make an Asus VE247H one with 2ms response time for $1050 maybe $1100 after a mount and some screws its not that great a deal slow response monitors 8ms :( .

  • +1

I would be inclined to do a 5 monitor setup in portrait mode for gaming.

  • Great deal, shame 6 just seems like overkill and when you compare the 3 monitor price to the six, well that would be foolish to buy that. So tempting

  • +12

I've already got 6 monitors in my workspace, can't go two high though…

Shit 23' monitors for $232 each? Really?

    • Do realise that bigger is not always better right? There are my differentiating factors to separate different monitors other than size. And this is a quality monitor.

      • +1

Did I complain about the size? Its not shit for size its shit for specs of which very little info there is on the samsung site. There are few user reviews, 8ms?, no HDMI, many years old now I can't tell if there actually IPS rather then PVA. Have you even seen or used this type of array? For 1.4k your better off getting a projector. Sorry this is just six shit monitors stacked together and sold for a premium. Why do you think they're junking old stock?

        • +1

I can't tell if there actually IPS rather then PVA.

          These are PVA.

        • This has been said a million times on different sites but I will say it again, a single projector has a resolution of 1920x1080 this has a resolution of 5760x2160, it isn't about size it is about usable desktop. There is no other all in one solution out there that has this quality stand, the tiny bezels and the remote included, sure this is not for everyone and I wouldn't play games on 6 screens because of the bezels, 3 is fine. Also point me to another DIY solution where you can buy a stand and line up the monitors perfectly, I don't think you will find one, are the monitors perfect… no, my only complaint is a small amount of backlight bleeding but they are far from junk. I have the MD230x3 for about 2.5yrs and never had an issue, I'm sure you know better then me though from the specs on the Samsung website.

Also no video cards has 6 HDMI ports so no HDMI is no big issue if you are using this as intended as it has DP and yes I also have a Xbox 360 hooked up via a HDMI > DVI cable.

    • +1

A decent mount alone would set you back a couple of hundred dollars!
