You forgot to mention in the desciption 3G: WCDMA 2100MHz
It won't work on most providers in OZ!

    • +1

actually the only provide that won't work too well is Telstra since they are trying to decommission this band. both Optus and Vodafone work fine.

  • The lack of 850 mhz / 900mhz frequency kills the deal.

  • Bing Bong.. no deal only 2100mhz just like the Kogan phone will only work in some parts of OZ

  • Is this a bargain?

  • when is the Neo N003 coming in?

  • I recently bought the G3 — it's also only 2100mhz but I've got a vaya (optus) sim in it and 3G has been speedy everywhere I've been.

This is considered cheap for the specs, but it's around $3 cheaper if you pre-order at banggood with a 5% code. I can vouch for banggood, it's where I got my G3 from - just took about 20 days to get here though.

However… Jiayu is known for a tonne of delays so don't expect this for at least another 2 months, lol.

    • It depends where you are but no Optus sold phone is 2100mhz only . They are all at least 900/2100 theres a reason for that .

    • Is the G3 good? Based on your experiences with the G3 and quality, would you recommend the G4 (irrespective of where it was purchased from)?

      • +1

The G3 is pretty sweet, it gives me 2+ days of use and has an absolutely gorgeous screen. Downside is probably just the lack of support on xda. There are some minor issues but they're negligible. The quality is good - the back cover is a little flimsy but as long as you don't rip it off, it's fine.

I would definitely recommend the G4 at this price range.

  • That looks like a nice 4.7 incher

    • +1

      that's not what she said!

      • Sure she didn't

  • I bought one of these a while back, if you can cope with the 5.8" size it's a pretty good phone, a Samsung Note II clone without the stylus/annotation/handrighting feature.
It's actually feels a bit zippier than my Samsung S3 as it doesn't have all the Samsung loader/interface stuff, it's pure Android.
    http://www.china24shop.com/star-n9589-mtk6589-quad-core-57-i…

The packaged goodies are worth it too, the flip case is exactly like the one I use on my S3.

    • How do the quality of the photos from the cam stack up? (not expecting much…)
      Also battery life?

Is 'china24shop' legit, as in the phones don't have fake specs? It's just that I noticed that almost all the prices are ~$20-$35 cheaper than the more popular chinese wholesalers…

      • Photos are actually Ok, although it doesn't have OIS, but I don't use the phone camera that much.

Battery life is very good, big 3600mah battery seems to do the job.

I did have one issue, the phone they sent me had less memory than advertised and they were not helpful although they do respond quickly to contacts via their system and emails. Otherwise all specs as advertised with all the listed accessories, nice phone. PayPal dispute resolution would allow me to send it back, but not worth the effort, I put a 32Gb Micro SD card in it and all is well.

        • had less memory than advertised

By memory you mean RAM & not ROM? If they state as 2GB, but is really (at least) 1GB its still ok I guess. Anything <1GB can get slow w/ many apps active.

  • I would be all up in this but…. it weighs 180g!! That is one brick of a phone.

    • It's 4.7 inches, which is almost the size of a Note 2 (which is 183g minus the stylus.). Given the size to weight ratio, this phone isn't that heavy.

  • The 2100MHz for 3G kills the deal. You won't get much coverage at all with Telstra and Vodafone. Optus is still ok perhaps, since it uses 2100MHz in CBD areas.

  • This phone is decent if you have 2 sims example 1 Optus and another Lyca

That way you have best of breed???

  • i told my friend to get this phone, the band selection isnt an issue as he moves around metro areas.

HOWEVER #WARNING# the seller should make it clear this is pre-order, and they dont have the phone in stock and wont for some weeks yet !!!!

does anyone know how long my friend will be covered by paypal buyer protection incase the seller doesnt deliver ?
