          My table is in Bold.

        • +3

and your bold table was just a little side table. Evol's table was a dining table!

        • I know you eneloopy people think you're all very environmentally friendly and stuff but I'd recognise the wood in that table anywhere.
          It was my favourite tree.

          GUMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice! I thought eneloops were being discontinued!

    • +1

how could you think such a thing?

      • Read it here on Ozbargain! Something about Panasonic buying out Sanyo….

Edit: Looks like Panasonic did buy out Sanyo (at the end of 2009!), but had no intention of abandoning the eneloops….

  • +17

so you're telling me I need to add my own glitter?

    • +1

For you my friend, bulk supply of glitter.
      http://www.monocodirect.co.uk/store/colours-bulk-ultra-fine-…

      only £49.75

      Note: Does not include glue

      • +1

        glitter is not a bargain

    • +3

Unfortunately yes, due to the way the isotropic energy cycles in these batteries you need to use glitter to achieve maximum lifespan.

      • +1

Or you can grind up one of Brocky's "Energy Polariser" crystals

    • 50% of the batteries are 'glittery' and another 25% are 'shiny' so you can save that £49.75 :)

    • Roll them on the ground after mardi gras

  • +1

    Very tempting!
Wait… I still have a bucket full of eneloop at home

  • +25

Last time I went to buy this special in store they were'nt priced 1/2 price as per website + catalogue.

It took ages to convince the "manager" of the store they were 1/2 price, showed him on my phone and he did'nt believe me (he said oh it must be a different product, oh it must be online only, it must only be one store, etc) and eventually when I got the product ID matched it to the product he finally agreed it should be 1/2 price but said he simply couldn't price it that low even if it was advertised as such! Wow. So I had to do a click/collect on the website for that store at that price - showed him the order details, etc right in front of him, waited (ended up being until the next day) for it to SMS me, then go back in the store. All the while the two guys behind the counter treating me like I'm dodgy for trying to buy a product at advertised price.

    Really wonderful shopping experience, Dick!

    • +21

Wow you really got Dicked around!

    • +5

I have one 2 many bad experiences with Dick Smith. If it's a super bargain I might risk it, but I would rather price match and give my money to someone else.

      • +5

if it a unresistable deal/bargain I would risk my time
else I would definitely turn to someone else to price match than wasting time with dicksmith employees

bad experience = no deal for you dick! :-P

        • Paraphrase much. What a jolly laugh I had

    • +3

      that's why Woolworths abandon them!!!!!!!!!!

those employees make dicksmith a bad name, same as few of my experience(Box Hill/VIC and Chadstone/VIC + few others)!

      • +1

More-so Woolworths ran the company into the ground through poor management and training of their staff at all levels, + reducing staff benefits and incentives, finally realising how bad it had become so abandoned them.

      • I think that being undesirable, Woolworths walked the other way. Especially considering their staffing policy is sub par. I'm in Vic and its the same experience down here, poor poor

        Jolly day

    • cool story hansel

Why are these 1900mAh whereas normal Eneloops and the Glitter models are 2000?

    • They are the same, but I think eneloop has changed the way they advertise those batteries from displaying the typical (2000) capacity to a minimum (1900) capacity.

      • +1

Without checking, don't these also claim 1800 cycles vs the regular 1500 of the glitter ones? Achieved basically due to lower capacity I'm sure.

In any event, I'm likely to be dead from natural causes before any of these batteries reach their 1800th cycle so it's more marketing hype than anything else. Oh they do hold charge for longer, 5yrs 70% or something.

        • +1

That is the difference between 2nd and third gen eneloops. THey have the same capacity (minimum of 1900, but typically 2000), but while the 2nd gen last for 1500 cycles, the 3rd gen last for 1800.

          Also
          2nd Gen retain 85%, 80% and 75% respectively after 1, 2 and 3 years
          3rd Gen retain 90%, 80%, 80% and 70% respectively after 1, 2, 3 and 5 years.

      • I bought the same Tone Range last time when it's discounted (not so long ago), of both colour variants. From memory, they cost $20 each + postage.

On the package, it states Typical 2000mAh/ Min.1900 mAh at the same time, also it is stated that this gen will last 1800 cy cles. Guessing the new gen is only better than the Glitter model in every way, except for the colours… :-|

  • How do these batteries compare with JayCar batteries

    • half the price! :D

      • +18

And Eneloop does not say "like jaycar batteries"

  • whats the difference in the new gen?

    • Higher capacity (supposedly 2500mAh)

      • +2

No, you're thinking about the Eneloop blacks.

  • +4

The pink really brings out the manliness.

    • what pink? it's milky red rose

    • +18

      You mean "aggressive salmon".

      • +2

Or Subaru STI pink/"Cherry Blossom Red"?

        • +1

That is like saying canary orange

    • wild pink for me

  • Will these charge okay in an Energizer charger? There's no special circuitry that makes them require an Eneloop charger?

    • I'd like to know too. Until i can fork out the extra coin for a La Crosse charger.

    • +1

I use mine in a Energizer charger with no issues.

  • +3

I'm overstocked on AA's from the last time these were on sale, they need to discount AAA's, and add glitter.

    • i hope it's pink

    • Amazon sells 4 AAA for $8.15 or 8 AAA for $16 if you're interested. Bought 16 last week with shipping comes down to $45. That's only $2 more expensive than this DSE deal.

  • +1

Im also AAAs too, it's a shame they don't sell the AAA versions of rouge and uomo.

  • -1

OMG! I was looking at it yesterday at DSE! can't believed its $42! nice find!!!

  • Where's the Rainbow Edition eneloops for those 'less than manly' products?

    • -1

      do you mean vibrators?

      • -1

        …they vibrate?

        • yep, if you're doing it right

  • new zealand, france finally lasoo… ABOUT TIME! :)

    • So which one would you be, the husband or the wife?

      • more like either give or take ;D

  • Can someone please explain the big deal about these batteries, I always see them here but don't know why.

    • they're one of the best rechargeable batteries hands down. I use thm for my camera flash. Get 400 flashes out of them with is heaps!

    • Can someone please explain the big deal about these batteries, I always see them here but don't know why.

Unlike 'regular' rechargeable batteries, they hold their charge when stored, ie, they don't go flat just sitting in the drawer.

    • +2

      It's glittery

  • Saw it in store @ Chatswood Chase (plenty of) today but was told it will be half price tomorrow. Gotta be quick if you want it.

    4 colors, 1800 cycles

  • cant click and collect if online showing as 42.98?

    • Can tomorrow when the sale starts

      • cool, thankyou

I've found the Turnigy AAA Hobby King rechargeables as the best bang for your buck:

    http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__25024__Turnigy_AAA_LS…

You can get 8 of these shipped for $13.91

You can also get the 2400mah AA Turnigy batteries (found these better than the eneloops, naturally with the additional 500mah capacity):

    http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__25023__Turnigy_AA_LSD…

8 of these for $19.71 shipped.

I dont know if these ones get the 1500-1800 recharge cycles you get on eneloops, but as other posters have said, you'll be dead or the world will no longer use AA/AAA batteries by the time they are useless.

    • +1

Yep dropped a few Turnigy LSDs last time they were on sale great batteries.

      • +7

        Was it a good trip?

  • I will definitely get this cheap battery and… where can I get cheap eneloop chargers? :P

  • +1

Just ordered two packs, got free delivery :) Now just to find a deal on a good charger

  • Got a pack. Thank you OP for the spotting! Finally starting my Eneloop collection after passing up so many previous deals!

  • +1

    Ordered on-line, Free delivery !!

    Win !!!

  • http://flashlightwiki.com/Eneloop or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eneloop for those wanting some more information about Eneloop batteries (or just read some of the previous Ozbargain threads when Eneloops were on special previously http://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/eneloop).

The model numbers of these batteries are: HR-3UTGB8-RTM and HR-3UTGB8-UTM which confirms that these are 3rd generation Eneloops (Third generation eneloops all have model numbers with 3UTGB… the number after that just indicates the size of the pack and the last letters the variety eg. colour I guess). NOTE: Per a link posted below by digitalaxon http://budgetlightforum.com/node/7336 it appears that in April 2013 a 4th Generation has just been released but not sure of any details about these other than what was in the link i.e. not sure when/where these are available. I personally wouldn't delay waiting for the 4th generation as there is very little info about these so I'd be happy with the 3rd gens for now.

  • Don't need them but bought them anyhows :)

    Bought the 'UOMO' versions.

Also ran across this excellent review of the different generations of eneloops and technical information - If your into batteries, you'll find it interesting reading:

    http://budgetlightforum.com/node/7336

  • Thanks OP got 2 of these,

      • Yeah the other store also asked for $20 before.

        • So did the bloke in Ashfield NSW store told me :(

  • Bought two thanks OP
