Download Hellboy free from Bigpond Movies

240

Checking the free download section in Bigpond Movies, it was with surprise that I saw the original Hellboy for download. Usually the only free content to download are trailers…

If you have used this service before, you know what is needed to download. For the rest of us (including me, as I haven't tried this service yet), instructions are as follows, from their site:

  1. Select one of the titles from the listing below.
  2. Add the title to your shopping cart.
  3. Review the item in your shopping cart. It will have no charge associated ($0.00).
  4. You'll need to register or login to proceed.
  5. Your computer will be checked for Windows Media Player 11. (WMP11 is free software from Microsoft. Click here if you need to download it from their website.)
  6. On completion of your selection, you'll be directed to the 'My Downloads' area of the website. To initiate your free download, simply select the 'Download' button.
  7. Remember to turn off your Pop-Up Blocker
  8. Once the download starts you'll be asked if you want to play the movie. Choose 'Yes' to open Window Media Player 11 and start the show! (Press the F11 key to toggle full screen mode).

Movie size is approx. 1.2GB, rated M. It says viewing period to be 24 hours, so I'm assuming that the movie removes itself/disables itself after that time, whether you have watched the film or not.

I don't think you can transfer the movie to disk and play it on your dvd player, so you will need to get cozy in front of your monitor for 117 minutes.

Also if you are (un)lucky enough to be a Bigpond member, this download will not count toward your data usage.

First submission :)

I pity any Ozbargain users who have bigpond internet access, It's definitely not a bargain!!!

Bittorrent is free for everyone so this deal is really only good if you can get it unmetered from bigpond…

I believe I read somewhere on the interwebs that bigpond was going to be giving away different movies/tv every week for a while for a promotion… So you can check back later and see if there's new stuff.

  • which ISP do you recommend then?? im a bigpond user.

    • It depends on what you want from your ISP, if you want lots of downloads then Exetel, Aanet & TPG are good. If you want good customer support Westnet is good. If you want heaps of games & nerdy stuff Internode is the best. If you want sport content IInet is very good.
Basically all of these providers are better than telstra's services, the problem is many people sign 24 month contracts with telstra and can't change over easily.
Personally I recommend Internode, they're not the cheapest but they provide heaps of good content, have very good gaming services and normally have very good support.

You can easily compare plans at whirlpool's broadband choice…

      http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/

      • Basically, im after a mixture of good speeds and decent download allowance…

I have just come out of contract with telstra, and am looking at iinet naked dsl ($59), how does this one fair?

        • Yeah its a good deal. Especially because you have no $30 line rental with telstra. The only concern is that both downloads and uploads are counted towards you data allowance which means peer to peer usage will count for more data, but this is the same as telstra anyway…

Basically you get 16gb download (with no excess fees), 24mbps speed and cheap phone calls for the same price as telstra gives you 200mb ($150/gb excess fees), 256kbps speed and expensive calls. Plus iinet offers unmetered ABC iview, itunes downloads, English premier league matches, and super 14 rugby matches.

        • i am with iinet 59$ plan for a year now. No complaints with the speed, but few months i exceed peak hour quota of 8GB while off peak (2am to 12noon or 2pm), pretty much unused. Wish they combine together and offer 16GB direct, as once you hit quota, the speed goes extremely slow. (They say 128kpbs, but it surely not even 64kbps). But free phone (except mobile) is nice, it is not affected even if i hit quota.

  • this is unmetered to bigpond users. they got one more free movie too, The Tudors - Season 1 - Episode 1 (http://downloads.bigpondmovies.com/showCmPage.do?key=library…). I am not on bigpond, so i am not going to download this movie. but good for telstra users.

  • I think there is Bigpond Movies integration in Vista Media Centre, I might check it out. Shame I can't download it and keep it there for a week, 24 hours is pretty limiting. If it's still free in a few days maybe I'll get a chance to watch it.. ADSL2+ with up to 17Mbit downstream so no hassles streaming it.

    • it is free till march - create new login or re-add the same movie when you want to download

  • Good offer to Bigpond Users; plus no one really pays full retail price for bigpond broadband.
Most of us get it much cheaper. lol.

    • lol, how?

  • not a great movie.
