Pioneer Internal 20x SATA OEM DVD/CD Writer - $15

390

Pioneer Internal 20x SATA OEM DVD/CD Writer - model DVR-216BK available until the 20th Feb - only $15! Not too bad really!

*On second thoughts, postage is expensive for me - perhaps if you're in Syd this may be a bargain.

I was in MSY yesterday looking to pick up the exact same model DVD burner and they were OOS. Checked 9829.com.au today and voila, half the price of MSY! Picked up 3 earlier this afternoon and 3 of the WD external drives as well!

If you really want to bring the price down, get OW to price match the drives to bring them down by another ~$8!

    • Cheaper than MSY? That's a +ve. Postage is pretty good for Sydney ($8) consider this item is heavier than a lousy usb drive which charged much more (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/10086).

  • $39 postage??

Am also close to giving this a negative just because of the postage. It seems that in some metropolitan centres the charges are reasonable but as soon as you live elsewhere it starts to get ridiculous. Shoppingsquare get enough negatives for their postage costs and these guys actually charge $1 more than SSQ to deliver a single DVD drive in our case. For people able to pick up or living in metropolitan centres it looks like a bargain, everyone else… well I'm not so sure.

Anybody got some opinions on whether the above warrants a negative? Maybe someone that orders can point a 9289 rep to this site and suggest that there is some disquiet in regards postage costs for non-metropolitan areas. They are loosing a lot of potential sales/customers.

    • it comes up $10 for me and I'm 80kms out of Sydney. Some SD ram cards cost that much to send - they also charge $1 for credit card no biggee but worth noting.. Watch there are two different shipping prices. I had choice of $39 or $10, guess which I picked LOL

Got notification on Monday this is being shipped via fastway.

  • sorry, $15 (1-2 buisness days) not bad.

  • I wonder why its so cheap… 12 months ago i brought a lower spec pioneer and it costed $100+. Is this the OEM model or did the drive come with the box?

    Nice find by the way

Title says it's OEM - you do not get a box, it's wrapped in some pink plastic if I recall correctly. I think you do get Nero Express, though I'm not sure.

Buying retail drives makes no sense, all you get is a pretty box, maybe some extra software (which you either already have or can download freeware alternatives) and perhaps a SATA cable.

I wouldn't even mind buying this to replace the DVR-215 in my HTPC which is extremely noisy.. the 216 is a lot better noise wise! Supposed to be one of the best DVDRWs out there, Terminal VeloCD from Whirlpool did a thorough review and was very impressed.

    • Sorry to say but 12 months ago you were ripped off. OEM drives have been around the 30-50 mark for some time. But this is still cheap

  • Can this one read/write DVD-RAM?. I need one too work with my camcoder

  • 9289 Special Zone Rate (Delivery to Perth - 2-7 days Delivery
(Estimated Delivery Time After Dispatching)) Price: $23

Postage is a killer to Perth.

You can pick one up for $29 at Netplus in Perth

  • has anyone priced matched at OW yet?

  • It seems to be sold out - it doesn't come up anymore on the shopping page even though it still shows on the ad and promotions page.

edit: Actually they do still have it on their website, but at $30: http://9289.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&products… (it also shows that it was updated today).

    • It is available again. I think the 30$ one supports dual layer (8.5GB) writing where as this one is not. 15$ is still a bargain.

  • 9289 store is at Chatswood and my local Officeworks is at Five Dock. Would they price match it if it's not local?

  • I was really tempted into doing the whole pricematch thing as well, as long as we know that Officeworks will honour this deal, if its pricematched isnt it only 5% or 10% cheaper? I dont really want to walk in with the whole printout only to find out that officeworks wont pricematch this?

    • if its pricematched isnt it only 5% or 10% cheaper?…

      Officeworks's discretion.

Officeworks often make is only 5 *** CENTS *** cheaper, for stuff I've pricematched before, at Officeworks WEST GOSFORD (NSW, postcode 2250).

And so does DAN MURPHY'S LIQUOR.

  • Hmm, 9289.com.au is selling the OEM version… pretty sure OW doesn't carry the same version? If they don't then they won't price match against a retail packaged one.
