  • Somebody with a Kogan TV and Logitech Universal Remote let me know if you've figured out how to switch input modes via a single discrete IR code, ie. straight to HDMI 3 without cycling the input menu. K thanx bye!

    • I have that same issue with my old Sony LCD.

    • I don't have a Kogan, but I know about Harmonys.

A few things you can try:

      • Download codes for a similar tv to see if that has discrete inputs that work with your tv
      • Create a sequence that first brings up the input menu, then selects a number corresponding to the input position - eg: if HDMI3 is fourth on the input menu, set the sequence to "input menu" then "4". Try this with the original remote first
      • Contact Harmony support and ask then to add discrete input codes to your account
      • Thanks for the tips kirt. I tried the input + number, but unfortunately that doesn't work with my 55" Kogan TV (only buttons that work on input menu are directional keys and OK).

I tried a cheap HDMI switcher with IR yesterday, but unfortuantely it's not designed to be used with multiple devices turned on simultaneously. I'm starting to hate all technologies marketed as 'intelligent' and 'smart'.

I have tried looking for similar devices in the Logitech software, but no success there either.

Damn you Kogan!!! <shakes fist in general direction of Russia… up right?>

        • Not a perfect solution, but it should work…
My Kogan has a discrete DTV button, so that could be used as a starting point, then set a macro for Input Menu, Down, Down, Down, etc, Select.
Sure, it's heaps of commands, but it seams to be the only way to use a Harmony to set the TV to a specific input.

I guess you might already be doing this though.

  • +1

I've got this model; I bought it in March 2012 for $455 plus $119 shipping to WA from Kogan's ebay page. It was $799 (plus shipping?) from their website at the time, but it came with a free tablet.

The TV works fine. I had some trouble with side by side 3D when I first got it, but it started working and has been fine since. The tuner isn't the most powerful in my house - we don't get good channel 10 reception, and some TVs can pick it up, while others can't; this one can't. The remote feels quite cheap, but that's what you get for the price.

    • So all good except the remote ? . How is the PVR functionality ? Thanks
