      • I like how in the T&C they say it's a Hard Cover book but everywhere else it's a soft cover.

        • +1

They've actually corrected that now. Says "soft cover" everywhere.

    • +2

      23:59:59 16/5/2013

  • Thanks, I'll get around to submitting one of these orders - one day

  • +1

Welcome to OzBargain and have a successful first post. Please modify the deal expiry date to 16/5/2013. The BigW T&C is ambiguously worded but when you do the maths, this deal will expire at 23:59:59 16/5/2013.

  • thanks OP

  • Thanks! Got one… even though I have no idea what I'm going to use it for.

  • Thanks Op

  • Purchased the last BIG W deal but never ended up completing my book in time! Will buy again though!

    Still a good deal!

  • Thanks.

This offer sounds too good to be true. They print out a 22 page booklet for $1??
how can that be legit? The printing costs would be huge for all those colour photos!

    • +1

1 per customer - so yes, they may be running at a loss but not a huge loss. They're hoping for upsales/addons when you order as well as future sales.

    • +2

It's like printing and sending out catalogues, effectively advertisement.

    • +7

For somebody who's been a member since 2011, Questioning if this is a legit deal or not because of what you pay for vs what you get, is dumbfounding.

    • Not as much as you think. The marginal cost of production is low, given that they have the machines already installed and idle a lot. If there are any losses they write it off as promotion cost.

      • +3

Also they are counting on people like me who buy 5 of these in greed only to have them expire and not use before the end date.

        • you can only buy 1…

        • +1

Unless he signs up his partner, his cousin, his dog, and sundry. :)

        • you can only buy 1…

Well , you haven't been around OZB long enough.

  • Has anyone been able to use their code yet? Mine says invalid at the moment

    • Voucher code is not valid until the 16th of may

  • T&C is for midnight 16/05 till 17/06

  • +1

Is it a soft or hard cover photo book? The title suggests soft yet the T&C suggest hard…

    • +10

      <insert let-me-google-that-for-you meme here>

Definitely soft cover. Although I did get hard when reading the deal

  • -4

My code won't work…and after 2 hours worth of uploading picture and arranging a photo book I'm mighty unimpressed.

    • +4

T&C's say buy the voucher before 16 may. Then you have to use it between may 16 - June 17

  • +2

Might want to add - Payment is via PayPal :]

  • Has this ended?

    • Sorry. It just worked for me.

  • Great deal again! Thanks OP

    • +2

But i think you missed to read the T&C's

T&C's say buy the voucher before 16 may. Then you have to use it between may 16 - June 17

    • +1

BUY NOW CREATE LATER - you can only start creating the Photobook from 16/5 til 16/6, as per T&C's…

      EDIT - beaten to it..:)

      • how come it worked for eeples?

        • eeples didn't say redeemed, could have meant successfully bought.

        • presumably they mean they were able to purchase the voucher…..

        • @Dorian_gray … eeples may be talking about the deal ( getting the voucher)itself not the order !!!

      • Hey Quiexo don't worry mate i can delete my comment so that you can come up first :-)) no issues

        • Haha, no need for it, credit given where credit is due..:)

  • Hi Daniel,

Thanks for purchasing your unique coupon code for use at BIG W Photos online. Your unique coupon code is:

    XXXXXXXXX

Your unique coupon code entitles you to a 6x8" personalised soft cover photo book, and must be redeemed by midnight AEST 17th June, 2013.

Just clarification on the use by date :)

  • I've tried it twice and it rejects me saying "problem with paypal as occured"
should i just try again later or give up?… :(
I've been using my debit mastercard so its not exactly via paypal. should I pay with my paypal account?

    edit:
just tried it with my actual paypal account and it worked…

  • +1

Whats the deal on copyrighted or obscene images?

  • It's a good deal. Thanks OP.

  • Saw this email last night was looking at getting it :) nice post thanks OP

  • *Prices do not include delivery charges which are additional when home delivery is selected

  • -1

You have to use a credit card not a debit visa or debit mastercard. :)

    • +1

I always use my debit only card online.

    • +2

Huh? Visa is Visa. Same with MasterCard. Merchant services don't care if it's Visa Debit, or Visa Credit, or Debit MasterCard or MasterCard Credit because the payment system is the same either way.

I can't believe these myths are still floating around…

      • No there are indeed some sites that won't take debit but want a credit card. Can't remember offhand which one it was. Don't ask me why.

        • +1

Can anyone point me to an example of a site that accepts Visa and/or MasterCard that explicitly states that Visa and/or MasterCard Debit cards are not accepted?

All I ever see is speculation that because someone's Visa/MasterCard Debit Card didn't work, that the site they tried to use it on doesn't support Visa/MasterCard Debit cards. And almost invariably you will encounter subsequent discussion where other people are saying things like "mine actually works fine" etc etc

EDIT: And further to that, it's still quite common, ridiculously enough, for something like the following scenario to occur:

Customer: Hi. Do you accept Debit cards?
CSR: No, sorry. Credit Cards only.
Customer: But it's a Visa Debit card. It's supposed to work exactly like a Credit Card, except the funds come out of a saving account instead of a line of credit.
CSR: Look, I can try it if you like, but I'm telling you it wont work.
Customer: The number is 42395300XXXXXXXX. Exp 05/14. Sec code: XXX
CSR: Ummm, OK. That actually did work, but I'm not sure why.

The above actually happened to me once, many years ago.

        • Nope.

  • -2

Broden's gone into book publishing and has these on eBay for $15.

  • Thanks, good deal!!

  • At 9:28 a.m. Monday 13th I'm getting:

    404 Not Found
The requested URL /index.php/site/SoftCover6x8Photobook was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.2 Server at bigwdeals.fujifilmimagine.com Port 80

  • And now I get this:
"No promotions are currently active. Please check back soon."

  • The deal doesn't exist anymore. Yesterday I checked there was still more than 100 hours until the deal expired.

  • +1

Why has this gone? Too much demand so they closed it down early?

    Hardly seems fair.

  • The T&C does not allow for an early withdraw of the deal. Should contact consumer affairs.

    • It's frustrating, as I would actually have a good use for this right now - but I think spending an extra $9 would be worth the saved time and hassle of going to consumer affairs :)

  • Aww, crap, I was going to grab this when I got home tonight ..

  • This seems to be working again now?

    • Awesome, just bought one. Looks the small print on the deal has been updated - it now refers to "soft cover" rather than "hard cover". Perhaps that was the reason for it disappearing temporarily?

      • So yesterday's voucher will work for hard cover photobook ? Just a guess..

        • As others have mentioned above, I think it was meant to be for a soft cover book all along. Must have just been a typo in the fine print.

  • Still working. Just bought 1 for 1 :)

    • Awesome, me too :)

  • It's working again! Entered credit card details, charged $1. Received email:

    Your unique coupon code is:
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Your unique coupon code entitles you to a 6x8" personalised soft cover photo book, and must be
redeemed by midnight AEST 17th June, 2013.

Use the BIG W photos online software to create your very own 6x8" personalised soft cover photo book.
Your unique voucher code can then be entered at the checkout section, after selecting from the delivery options.

  • Thanks heaps! Lucky I checked again, was about to print up some pics! It's still working, so, just spent a buck. Took some great pics yesterday and this will make a nicer gift of those pics for my friend :)

  • Mmm I bought five photo books last time the deal was active but totally forgot to use it so theres probably a good chance I would forget to do it again!

  • EXPIRED : (

  • Bought, but can't work out how to activate the offer.

    • You should have an e-mail from them by now:
      1) Log in or register using their link
      2) Start the photo book project and upload your pictures
      3) Start working on the Photo book
      4) Use the code only after you confirm everything is OK in your design; when they ask for payment, there will be a field on the left hand side which asks for a promo code - enter yours there.
      3) Price will be updated (It should be showing $0.00 since you've paid) once you've applied the code.

      Enjoy!

  • I have created a 6x8 soft cover personalized photo book to be picked up. After entering the promo code, I get the error:
Promotion cannot be applied, this can be due to an incorrect coupon entry, an expired promo or the conditions have not been satisfied.

    • any luck getting your code to work?

      • Nope. I got two codes. They both don't work unfortunately.
I created a 6x8 soft cover personalized photo book as per terms, so not sure what is wrong…

        • +1

try double checking the codes with your paypal purchase name the code should be in there too.

    • +2

check the code. there is a space in the beginning if you just copy and paste from the email.

originally i had the same issue.

      • +1

Thanks! Works now, it had a space at the start…

  • coupons almost expired people don't forget to make yours before it expires.
