    Nothing wrong with generics

      generics

depends on the generic and what non-active ingredients are used…

Imho there is no reasons to buy branded medication if the "generic" has exactly the same ingredients and has good manufacturer quality control. Take ibuprofen for example.

You have too much money if you are buying brands over generic unless there is no alternative.

    • But the branded one has targeted pain relief, so it MUST be better!

        Targeted wallet relief perhaps.

especially when the branded and generic are by the same manufacturer :)

has exactly the same ingredients and has good manufacturer quality control.

but often they don't have the same ingredients, it's not just the active ingredient that's important…

  • Seems like a great deal. I need Telfast actually but declined buying them yesterday at the full price. Now I have no excuses (I didn't even realise there was a generic for telfast! Good to know for future reference).

And as for the generic v brand debate, I agree, no reason to buy brand names anymore if the active ingredient is identical. I buy generic ibuprofen from time to time and the chemist told me they're identical, the only difference is that I'm likely feel the effect of the brand name product quicker (which didn't make a whole lot of sense to me if they're identical) but the end result will be the same. $1.90 or $6.00, easy call for me.

    • Just for future reference the company behind Telfast also make the generic brand Fexotabs. They are made on the same production line in the same warehouse. It is literally a matter of packing Telfast one minute and packing Fexotabs the next. At the end of the day you end up paying about $10 more a box for Telfast. But Telfast benefit from you either way. If you buy Telfast they make money and if you buy Fexotabs they make money.

Many many companies these days make their own generics. Or even make other branded items. Like Johnson and Johnson have Cordal and Sudafed and Benadryl and a few other smaller name generics. So when you have a cold, no matter what brand you go with, Johnson and Johnson win as they have 80% of the cold and flu market in the Pharmacy. So if you get a saving go for it, stop helping the big companies getting richer.

tiny sample size, but this is an interesting study about why expensive drugs act better than lower cost alternates.

    • thats why you take 2 of the cheap pills lol…

I think i bought like 200tabs of generic claratyne for $12 so cost wise I could take even more than 2 ;)

    • So maybe we should get another family member to wave a branded box, palm that and supply the sufferer with generics, claiming that it came out of the branded box. Hmm, now that I think of it, my mum did something with her hands behind her back… :)

  • i bought something like 100 ibuprofen and 100 aspirin for ~12$ all up whereas brands would have cost me about 50$ for the same amount, if not more.

having said that, i think that nurofen zavance/plus is more effective- for obvious reasons, as opposed to normal nuforen which is the ibuprofen equivalent

This deal is certainly not to be sneezed at!

  • This is cheaper per tablet then the generic brands, so good spotting

  • that's a good point - and quite unusual!

    have a postitive OP :O

  • does anyone know the expiry date on them?

    • +1

last boxes i bought from cw were 09/2016, 01/2017

  • whats the normal price for the cheapest generics?
edit : seems cheapest generic xergic is similar in price for this deal
