    How does the points system work?

    I have around 55,000 best western points, and one night is 16,000 points or every 22,000 points is $100 eftpos card..

    Losing interest with best western though..

      2,000 points gets you a $60USD or 40EUR voucher to be used at your next stay.

      You can also transfer 1:1 to Qantas frequent flyer points

    • Someone please help me !! For some reason I get the OZbargain newsletter late. For example this great deal was posted on 19th and I received it on 20th hence I missed the deal. Is there a way I can set the newsletter so that it arrives on the date not a day later? If not is there a way to bookmark a page so that I can check the deals posted on that day or at that very moment ?

  • One thing I can't stand about the Sofitel is when they greet you with "Bonjour". We are in Australia, not France.

      If that's your only complaint about Sofitel then they're doing well. Personally I'm a fan of Sofitel.

      You're not entitled to points if you book via expedia etc. I've emailed them in the past, and got this reply:

      We would like to inform you that as stipulated in our program's general terms and conditions, rooms reserved by a third-party, such as a travel agent, tour operator or Internet distribution channel, are not eligible for points credit or any other advantage related to the Le Club Accorhotels program, with the exception of reservations made under corporate contracts.

      I've since booked via the accor website, and I've never received a free upgrade or anything like that. Pretty much stopped using my Platinum card because I rather just get a nicer hotel off Expedia etc.

    Does the booking have to be in the cardholders name or can you add the member card number onto another persons booking?

      Can add, I've mooched points off family members stays.

  • Please be aware that Accor can and probably will cancel your Platinum membership. They cancelled mine the last time.

    • I got mine last time, have used it twice, still working…for now

    • They will cancel it if you use a Platinum offer twice in my experience. It also expires down to silver (worthless) if you don't stay for a certain amount of time.

    with the last Platinum offer I used it within China and every room was upgraded with nice welcome gift, drink vouchers and late check out.

    What is ridiculous is that Sofitel Brisbane and Gold Coast do not acknowledge Le Club :(

    • when i used my platinum for sebel albert park melbourne, all i got was a room upgrade (no complaints there) but no gifts, vouchers etc.

    • It's the same with Best Western. USA and Canada get welcome gifts, free upgrades, free breakfast, free wine, conceirge plus other extras. Here in Australia, it's basic service. Some places charge more when I show them rewards card, then I walk out.

      • In Thailand I got major upgrades but in Australia I get offered to pay for the upgrades…

    • That's strange because we got offered late checkout and drink vouchers in Brisbane

    • I've stayed over 80 nights in ibis Styles, ibis budget and Formule 1 in the last 6 months easily…

      1) never got a single point regardless how I booked it (the likes of Orbitz/Ratestogo definitely ruled it out I've been told but even going direct through Accor didn't net me a single point)
      2) no upgrades or anything offered (not that there's much of an upgrade at ibis budget or Formule 1 mind you)

    • I stayed at Swanson hotel, grand mecure, couldn't do late check out.

      • I stayed in the Swanston Hotel last week and they offered me nothing.

    I already have a classic status membership. Looks like I can't upgrade? I have to sign up a new account to get the platinum? Anyway, couldn't be bothered, I don't travel and stay with their hotels that often.

    You can also earn le club points by using Le club Places on facebook. You can earn 50 extra points when you check in by registering your stay on facebook and also earn awards which are usually 150- 250 points. It all ads up.

    Stayed at the Ibis Brisbane last night for $99 on promo fare, with free upgrade to the penthouse floor (possibly due to my instant-platinum status), claimed the $5pp buffet breakfast too! Thanks again OzBargain :-)

        I asked "can I have a river view room?" at check-in, that is all.
        Research your hotel on Trip Advisor for the room suggestions ;-P

  • Can we use the other website like booking.com or agonda for the accur hotel n still have platinum benefit?
    Coz I tried to book via their website n they have price garantee but I called their number. They gave me a lot of excueses that they can't match the agonda price. I was told I can't have points or any platinum benefit if I booked via other websites.

    • Yea, just have to show the card at checkin, or even just the membership number.

      The upgrade process might be different when not booked through Accor, unsure.

    • If you book elsewhere you forfeit the platinum benefits (as mentioned elsewhere)

    I am also an advantage plus member and I know it has not got the best press but I love it. It cost $299 and that includes a free night, 10% off bookings and 50% off when two people are dining (at some places). But I love the red hot rooms which are released every Friday which are at least 50% off. It is not for everyone but if you stay at accor a lot it is definitely worth it. Pm if u want cause then i can get a referral bonus ;)

    • I'll see how I go this week at Ibis, if it's my thing I may jump at that. I would do 50-70 nights a year in hotels.

  • Stayed at some of the accor hotels around the world. The program is definitely not worth it. They do a terrible job at acknowledging status and giving benefits. No reason to spend the extra money to stay at this chain of hotels.

  • I did a bit of research. i checked the on Wotif and Accor websites. The price was a lot cheaper on Wotif to book the same hotel on the same day. i think i don't I am gonna use my Accor Le Club Platinum since you wont get any benefit if you book the hotel through 3rd parties. What do you think guys ?

    • I suggest that you should contact Accor, as they've adjusted their price to match cheaper advertised rates for me in the past.

  • I called last time and spent a least 15 mins on the phone. The person who answered the phone was telling a lot excuses they can't match it and ask me to book with them first then file a form. After you booked with them, the other room from the website probably will be gone too.
    I ended up booked via agonda, it was like 80 dollars cheaper for a night stay in Sofitel gold coast.

  • Last time i used this i didn't get any benefit as other people have said. They don't even acknowledge it when you check in so whats the point.
