More info over at Amazon….and a cheaper price !
US$138.34 Total before tax (shipped to Melb)

    And according to http://www.theaustralian.com.au/australian-it/personal-tech/…

$149.99 is the regular price in Australia, even from Apple !

Presumably you can't use the $30 to buy the UP, unless you walk out, walk back in, use the gift card, then return the first one ? Anyone cheeky enough to try this ?

    • Considering how many people have experienced these things breaking down quite often, I'd think it's better to get it from a local shop.

Personally I prefer the Fitbit One, at ~$99: bluetooth (4.0), floor counter/altimeter, easy sync and integration with other iOS apps, simple USB charging with provided adapter, proven technology (just see the Up v1.0 from the start of the year), plus robust build (mine has survived a full front loader wash cycle when I left it in my shorts pocket!)

    • Problem I have with the One is that I forget to take it with me .. or the clip tends to slip off my belt in the car (though I had lost it totally for 3 days the first time it did that) also I ended up washing it which killed it (and fitbit replaced it for free - nows thats customer service).
So I'm keen on getting the Zip for its water proofness and always on-me ability.

      • it seems that a lot of people tend to clip it to their belts and sometime it dislodge itself but did you know that you dont have to use the sleeve provided but can simply just pop the fitbit in your pocket?
the new flex doesnt seem to show enough other than just four led lights, to get more info you have to have access to a computer to sync or your phone which you have to have bluetooth on.

        • is the loss of steps climbed a big loss with this new one?

        • that is just personal preference, if the four leds are enough to inform you of your progress, your goals etc than thats all you need.

    • Where can you get the Fitbit One for $99?

      • $98 inc delivery at flingshot

  • My Fitbit Flex arrived yesterday. $AUD106 from amazon.com. Not much to say yet as I havven't started using it.

    • I pre-ordered about 6 weeks ago. Got notified that it was shipped from Arizona last Thursday night.

  • Be interested to see what you think of the Flex. Love my Fitbit One but often forget to wear it and putting it in band at night is a pain. I was also wondering if loss of the Altimeter is a downside to the Flex. The Up looks good but heard not as good as the Flex.

    • Very easy to set up (just make sure that you select US site as it defaults to Aus which does not have this product listed yet).

Quite impressed with the range of extra settings that are available in the app in terms of caloric intake, HR (resting, exercise), BP, BSL, etc. These are not monitored by the wrist band. You have to enter them manually, but the fact that it is all there means that you can have a "goto" site to keep track of everything.

So far I am impressed with the feel of it - alread yhad to check that it was still on as it is so light. Ask me in 3 months whether it has been worth it!

Sorry that I can not offer more than that at this point in time.

I hate when these sort of bargains crop up. Once again this gadget is something that I didn't even know existed before, but now I feel compelled to learn about it and probably eventually buy it, just because it may be a bargain!

  • Jawbone UP still break all the time. I had the new version forwarded from Amazon US last year and it broke.

    Fitbit Flex looks heaps better.

  • There seems to be alot of serious issues with Gen 1 and 2 according to the reviews.
