Dick Smith 49.5" Full HD LED LCD TV $498 - Free Metro Delivery

130

I just bought one of these on the weekend and it was $598.00 in the store. Not a bad Full HD LED LCD to be honest. Not the best one out there but certainly worth every bit of $500.

Deal is available in store and online

  • Power usage not specified :/

    • 3 Stars.

Again, not great but for the price very good for what it is.

  • So for a bedroom Tv with PVR function worth getting?
PVR function records live tv as well has timer for shows?
Has Plasma in lounge will picture quality be an issue?
    Movies and sport.
    Is the 50Hz an issue?
Better offers in store or Kogan\online?

Should hold offer to closer to EOFY sales?

    • My mother has the 37.5 in her room, DVR is about 1GB a hour, its pretty good.

  • +1

Great price for what you get

  • I already have a T-Box and a WD TV Live so I didn't need the PVR function. The 50HZ isn't really an issue for me but if you watch a lot of sports you may see a difference.

BR movies look really good once you have the set calibrated properly (as with any LED LCD)

It's $498.00 don't expect $1500-$2000 quality from it but it's quite good for the price. I'm certainly not complaining.

Dick Smith even gave me $100 back since I bought it in store for $598.00 last weekend.

  • Can you post calibration settings please….Dick Smith do have a 28 day price reduction guarantee or something?
Plasma is OLD Original 40kg $8K model 1080i with only DVI connections. HD still looks awesome on it.
Why is power 3 star when others at Big W are 7 star LED\LCD?

  • So this deal is only for today? I'm so tempted but I'm also looking at some 2nd hand ones auctioning on eBay.

Is HDTV even broadcast in 100hz or is 100hz only useful for blu rays?

    • +1

100HZ is a processing trick that works on 50HZ content. All content is 50HZ.

  • Yup, today only. Both online and in store. If you are going to pick one up be sure to call to see if they have stock. I think they do have that guarantee.

I'm actually going to invest in a calibration BluRay on the weekend to get the settings exact. I'm 90% there by "eyeballing" it but I'm anal in getting it just right.

Not sure on the 3 star to be honest. Not too concerned given that it's not on 24/7.

    BTW…it weights f**k all (17KG) :-)

  • Why didn't they just make it 50 inches?

    • Dunno. Bigger that 46"?

50" was perfect for me tho. 55" would have been too big for my room

  • …also the TV has a Dick Smith one year EXCHANGE guarantee. Something happenes to it in 12 months they'll replace it free.

  • Might pull the pin and buy this….you tried USB Google stick on this?
    Sound is clear?
    Remote easy to use…AAA batteries?
    Better than Soniq at Jbhifi?
    Are 2 X Hdmi enough…..
You used the PVR to USB stick or External HDD yet?
Can you "rewind" live show using PVR function?
When you Calibrate please post your results….

Worried cause it's Dick Smith brand that warranty may only give credit and not refund?

    • I haven't used the PVR function (I have a T-Box) so not sure how well it works. Remote is very easy to use. Uses two AA's Not sure about the Soniq or JB brand comparison. It's a good HiDef pic and good sound too.

Two HDMI are plenty for now. Plan on using a HiFi receiver anyway.

Will defo post the calibration settings once I've had a chance to use the bluray setup disc.

  • Just on "search" saw they sold this 2 months ago at same price……said the Changelong Binglee deal was better(not on offer any more)

Rang back and next in queue again……it's a worry

Pity I need before the Kogan Pre-order offer :( which arrives 25th July
