Purchase a $2 Amaysim SIM Pack and Receive $20 Credit upon Activation Online @ Target

550

Saw this in Target today, pretty good deal for $2. $20 can get you a month Amaysim Flexi plan or 2 month 1G data. Not quite sure if this is a Target exclusive offer or not, I can't find the deal on Amaysim website somehow.

Activated online, was showing $0.01 balance, now is $0.00. May need some time to go through, will keep all bargainers updated. (May need to give them a call tomorrow)

Referring a friend is still more efficient if both people want the credit, spending $20 for $20 instead of $22.

    • Are you sure? This seems to be spend $2 for $20, not $20 for $22. This looks better to me, plus all the extra goes to one person.

      • -1

Posting after midnight wasn't a good idea after all. Referring a friend = $25 for $25 of value ($10 to each with $5 for the card and credit). This deal is $22 for $20 of value. So it's technically more value to use referring a friend if someone is already on Amaysim.

        • +3

No I think you've still got the figures wrong.

Friend referral: $5 for starter with credit, friend gets $10 extra, you get $10. Cost $5, benefit $25. (I'm assuming that the $5 starter with credit still exists, it's hard to work out from their site. If not, then it will cost $7 for SIM and $5 initial recharge.)

This deal: $2 for SIM with no credit, $20 credit applied. Cost $2, benefit $20, but no sharing.

        • Yep, you're right. Sorry for the confusion.

    • Referring a friend is still more efficient if both people want the credit, spending $20 for $20

Er don't you mean spending $2 for $20? Friend has to buy a starter SIM for $2, then do one recharge to use the service for the first time, then you get $10 and friend gets $10 extra.

In this one the friend gets $20 on activation, and you get nothing.

  • I cant see the deal on their website. That's a pretty big oversight by them. A deal like this should be displayed prominently on their front page.

  • Is it exclusive to sims sold at Target?

  • It's only with Telstra that you can use account credit to purchase apps, right?

I was looking at buying a few android apps. Would be nice to get a discount.

  • If I buy now from Target when is the expiry for initial activation. That is, how long can I keep this before activating it?

    • The pictured sign says the offer is available until 6 June.

  • went into target parramatta today and they havnt heard of this offer.

    • not in Mt. Ommaney either…

      • target broadway is displaying same offer as posted by OP

    • Not at Bundaberg either

      • Target Burwood NSW has this offer

      • I purchased a SIM today from the Bundaberg Target, activated with $20 credit

  • target caroline springs hasn't heard of it either. has anybody called amaysim?

  • Well last time they did this with $10 credit on activation people was complaining they didn't get their credit either.

Spoke to amaysim and was advised it is a Target Run promotion. Also this promo is only available for new customers signing up and not for existing customers just changing their sim cards.

wonder why some target store don't know about it.

JUST HOLD ON BUYING AND ACTIVATING. I bought one at lunch time from Target and activated. $20 credit DID NOT appear upon activation. Asked through twitter then an email. I'll post the outcome (get $20 credit or not) once it's final.

    • +2

Got reply from Amaysim rep Kerry: $20 credit will be applied manually to my account and appear on next bill (I selected postpaid at activation). The reason given was the SIM I purchased from Target might fail to trigger the promotion during activation for some reason. I guess if you have same issue, just need to contact them.

Thanks to JordanM, I contacted Amaysim through your link to twitter.

A plus for this deal for sure now!

    • So Optus_HQ is deliberating on stock to sell off before triggering the cards, well this is some news. I was thinking '3hrs' talk time should make a fine complement to idroid's earlier promo '3gb' (cost 6 AUD) ipad pack. This give one Voice + high speed data (3gb + .5gb).

    • SMS number to check balance, usage on amaysim, anyone?? Appears missing.

  • I can confirm the promotion - when you enter the Sim's ICIDD, a dialogue box pops up that says something along the lines of 'You bought this sim from Target Parramatta. Do you want to accept $20 bonus credit as part of this promotion?' But when I activated using my credit card, apparently I got charged $10.10 on my card after selecting the $9.90 data pack. Confused… maybe they mean they took it out of my amaysim credit?

  • Not posted/No sign in store but I took the gamble and purchased a $2 sim anyway. Can confirm on activation it popped up with "Purchase from Target Brisbane CBD Bonus $20 credit".

Can confirm I did not need to enter any credit card details with a data pack purchase of $19.90.

  • Uh huh I am tempted to install the Amaysim $19.90 2.5gb for a relative in the mf60.
Will need to pickup sim, but hopefully that would be permitted, would include a firm cut off, and thus no need to enter financials for the prepaid one-off deal.

  • Is any ID needed at the time of purchasing a sim from Target?

    • No, I didn't need it.

    • +1

It is a must when purchase any SIM afaik…

      • Nah, I have bought various SIMs in the past without ID check. Activation is the point when they check.

  • Target carousel in WA has this

  • Sorry for the late update. I called Amaysim this morning, was held for 20 minutes then dropped out, called again and finally talked to somebody. He said he'd never heard this promo before, he had to check with their marketing department. He put me on hold for 10 minutes and confirmed there is no such promo and asked me to email him the picture. I emailed him and no reply since then.

I will ring them again to double check.

  • The sign was up at Target Melbourne City (Bourke Street. Activating and porting my number now. So happy to leave Vaya!

  • what does the expiry date mean? Buy and activate before/on 6th of June or buy before/one 6th of June and can activate later (until when?) Thanks

  • +2

Can confirm that this worked with a SIM brought from Target, Bundaberg. After entering in the ICIDD, it asked if I wanted to take up the offer or not. There was nothing instore advertising this.

  • I just bought one from Rhodes (NSW) Target. They do have the same sign too.

    Reporting positive as above comments.

$20 credit shows up as account balance that expires on 26th August.

So I think as long as you activate before 6th June you can purchase a 2.5GB $20 data pack on the 26th August for use up to September!

  • btw the promo code is TAR20 try and activate using code for any other amaysims you have let me know if they are credited with $20 too lol?

    • +1

"Sorry, the promotion is not valid. Sim Not Assoicated with Code"

      nope :(

No that's not the SIM expiry date, it's the expiry date of as you go credit, 90 days after a recharge. But 10c not enough to do anything except perhaps a short call to some overseas destinations. The service doesn't expire until 90 days after the credit expires with no recharge.

  • If you prefer 2GB data over 60 days what you do is buy a 1GB data pack now for $9.90 then another 30 days later. Make sure you don't use more than 20c of your credit on call or text, i.e. no more than 1 minute or one text. :)

  • Target Kidman Park knew about the $20 though no signs up. The online activation confirmed it.

  • One SIM left at Chatswood Target.

  • bought from target innaloo, activated online but credit not applied. emailed them and they did it in an hour. thumbs up to the social media team at amaysim! they put others to shame

  • Straight through for me today, pack purchased at Miranda Target, they have a couple left.
