  • Good price ~$150 elsewhere.

  • these are great headphones and that's a fantastic price. they usually go for around $250 at headphone shops but closer to $100 on ebay in the states. if you like bass without losing clarity, get these

  • $250 at headphone shops…!! what a joke… always around US$100 +$13 shipping on amazon.

    Good price +1

  • What is the quality of these like?

I got these for about $150 from Amazon around 2 years ago and they're still my favourite headphones. Compared to the Sennheiser PX360 and the Audio Technica ATH-M50, the AKG Q460 have a much warmer and richer sound if that makes any sense. The sound is much more mellow and the instruments and vocals blend together really well, whereas the M50 you can hear each individual instrument better but the sound isn't as warm. Also pretty good bass (better than the M50, probably not as good as the PX360), although I don't listen to that many bass heavy songs.

Also much more portable than the other headphones (although not as good noise isolation), and if you're listening to music with an iphone and want to be able to switch songs/answer calls easily the headset is quite handy. Headphones come in an approximately 8x12cm hard case with 2 detachable cords.

      thanks for your detailed review!!!

  • Picked up a set at lunch time, managed to find a white set, and there appeared to be maybe 2 more (black-only from what I could see) sets left. Just in case there are others that will go have a look, they're actually not in the headphones section (and neither did the girl in the headphone section seem to be aware of the headphone (or even the brand AKG)), but they're actually in the clearance bin closer to the other side of the store (near the registers).

Coming from Sennheiser pxc 250 ii's, the persistent comment that they are a little muddy at the top with a narrow sound stage seem to ring true, and the bass isn't as loud as what I've heard through a friends noise cancelling Beats, but for the money (tho that said, we had gotten the pxc's for ~135 delivered back in the day) as a pair of headphones that are portable and have an iPhone inline mic, they seem to be alright - just don't expect top end or even upper mid range performance from them.
