Olympus PEN E-PL1 camera with 14-42mm lens

Postage costs: (EDIT - there's an ad on the Photo Continental homepage offering free postage for orders over $100)
Collect From Our Store - $0.00
Australia Post Australia Wide - from $10.00

This camera model is a few years old now and is very basic in operation but at the <$200 price point you can usually only get compacts with non-interchangeable lenses and tiny sensors (this has a much larger four-thirds sensor, not as big as APS-C but almost there). It's discontinued almost everywhere now, the last price on DigitalRev (i.e. grey import) was $290, mid-2012.

  • Twin lens?

Cheap, but I would spend the extra $50 for the EPM1 kit that they are also selling or even a few bucks more for the EPM2 or GX1 purely for the improvement in sensors + AF speed.

    • Agreed on the E-PM1. The lens on the E-PM1 is much better too. Faster AF and designed for video (might be silent focusing or something, never played with it much on video). I'd pay an extra $50 for that alone.

      Or the E-PL3 for $300.

Or yesterday's $350 deal on the NEX F3.

  • factory refurb?

  • The front page has an ad saying free post for items over $100

  • Free delivery with AUS post. Best clearance price since DickSmith sold out 2 months ago.

  • This or Nikon V1 or Canon EOS M?

    • or SONY NEX-F3 ?

      • F3 is better but more expensive.

        • I was trying to get DSE's f3 yesterday but they only had the display model left… With 10% off I couldn't let myself take that crap (full of finger prints EVERYWHERE)

    • There seem to be good deals recently on Pansonic GX1 overseas. May be worth considering.

  • I'll give it a + cos it's damn cheap, but really surprised anyone has stock of this camera still.

I'd personally fork out the extra $100 for the EPL3, or $50 for the EPM1.

    • EPL3 is better in the video side, right? Anything else?

      • Much faster auto focus. The image quality would be similar though.

I've seen deals in US for GX1 (on overseas sites, not here) for about $199 US. I'd be looking at that if I was after a cheap m43's system (and get a kit lens of ebay from someone who got it with a body - I have one unused if you want :) )
