    I know someone who bought one of these from Asia only to have Australian Customs confiscate it at the airport.

    Now they are being sold in the country? what gives?

      I have these overseas, love them and I know that we cant bring them thru customs. The one I bought overseas cost less then AUD$5 and comes with rechargeable battery, you slide the power socket out and plug the whole racket in to the power socket.

        I just told them it was battery powered and was to kill bugs.

          I think the Custom rule has changed. If the zapper is shielded (protect from accidentally touching the electrified wire) and it's under 6v then it's ok.

      I tried to sneak one in in 2009 and a quick xray scan and they found it. But they checked it and it was all fine. At some point they changed the rules to allow them as long as it wasn't overpowered. Since then though, not sure whether anything has changed.

    I bought one from ebay which is rechargeable for $7.30 which had no problems getting through the mail. So definitely no deal for me.
