Thought this was a good deal, what do you think? Similar to http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101953 but a further $70 off. Perhaps you can use www.starthere.com.au/dell for a further discount as well. I haven't tried.

Supposedly from $1,898.98 discounted by $570.00 = $1,328.98

  • It's a lot of money to pay for something with Windows 7, an Ivy Bridge processor and an Intel HD 4000.

Some (many?) would see Windows 7 as a positive selling point!

      • +1

True. But there's lots of great features in Windows 8 that 7 lacks.

Multi-monitor support, built-in reformat function, refresh without losing settings, improved boot and shutdown time just to name a few.

There is still a lack of support for a number of applications (e.g. netlimiter) but I wouldn't let that hold me back.

Have you seen a better deal? Please share.

Keep in mind that this is an Ultrabook and not intended for gaming.

Looks like they're starting to clear inventory to make way for the new Haswell laptops?

  • I've seen the same spec go for about $1050 on the refurb store, so if they are clearing stock thats good news because its a great laptop

I recon this is worth the extra $200

Not everyone wants a large bulky 15" machine.

      • +3

True, but with that same logic, not all people want a laptop over a tablet over a smartphone over a banana….

My point being, I think people can figure out if they want something or not without you telling them that eug :)

        • I reckon this is worth the extra $200

If the 15" laptop is such a good deal, you should create another post, rather than paste it into a post about a 13" laptop.

After all, if someone clicked on this 13" laptop link, they must be interested in a 13" laptop.

        • +1

i disagree. for 200 dollars more, someone who isnt fussy about 13" (like myself) might go for it. thanks steve.

        • Yes, that's why I said "not everyone". Some people don't mind.

If it's a great deal, it really should be a separate post so people who are looking for 15" machines can find it easily.

        • It has actually already been posted: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/104353

    • I'd probably prefer the refurbished Alienware M14x they have in the DFO at the moment if I wasn't looking for an Ultrabook. It's going for $1,059.

      • How's your view on the refurbished model? Im thinking of getting one, but I'm not sure of its weight, quyality and heat-up rate. Do you mind to sharing some of your personal views? thanks

        • The M14x is rather heavy, around 3kg I believe. From what I hear it is a quality system though and somebody I know used to get refurbished models all the time for work and hasn't experienced any issues with them.
