    • Just saw some cheap ass flights to Christchurch on searching on Jetstar.

Sydney to Christchurch - from $29…. looks like it's for travel from late May to mid June.
With tax these work out to be $163 RETURN!.

Unfortunately these are a bit early for the snow season :P

EDIT: Or are the "$29 Sale Fares" what you are refering to with the $99 fare? I'm confused

  • Hmmm NZ ski fields here we come…

  • Hmm, interested.
I'm currently thinking about doing the flight from Perth to Melbourne, then Melbourne to Christchurch, and going for about a week or so in June.
What's the chance that Jetstar will price match (I'm pretty sure they have a policy of beating prices), if Tiger Airways has it cheaper, but there is a difference of 1-2 hours between the flights?

  • Jetstar used to have a promotion called "Double the Difference" - where they'd give you a voucher for double the difference if you found a cheaper flight at a comparable time from another airline. However, it was a bit of a scam - you still had to buy the more expensive Jetstar flight, then you'd just get a credit for your next purchase. However, that promotion ended on 31/12/08 - http://tinyurl.com/dz9h54.

Simple answer: no they don't price match, and they never really have.

They try to be the most competitive most of the time, but with the price wars going on b/w the LCCs, no-one can be the cheapest all the time.

  • what a pity
i need to travel to Wellington in April, but no sales ticket goes there.
    good find, anyway.

  • Actually, I found this:
    http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/travel-info/travel-services/pri…

But dang, it looks like it has to be less than an hour for domestic flights, and on the same day for international (which tiger is more expensive, obviously).

Actually… on the 2/3 of June, Tiger flies out at 19:30, compared to Jetstar's 18:35, so I -can- try for the price beat!

  • Webjet are having a $100 cash back special if you pay by PayPal.
I know they search through Jetstar flights but I don't know if they'll be using these prices.

  • Paypal cash back is not available for Jetstar flights.
I guess you can make 2 one-way bookings with 2 separate Paypal accounts to get $200 cash back.

  • jetstar - hurry up and come out with $99 auck flights for november will ya!!

  • hmm just checked out that webjet/paypal deal…. sneaky sneaky that they don't include jetstar in this promo.
i worked out it isn't worth it — better just to book with jetstar
also the paypal deal is only for the first 300 customers — apparently there is no way of telling if you are one of these first 300

    • sorry, what do you mean by apparently? i emailed them and they replied

      "Hi Kim,
If it is still displaying on the website then it is still available.

We take it off or put up sold out when full.
      Regards"

so hopefully there wont be any surprises… cos i've already made two reservations!

  • If only i had leave saved up!! NOOOOOOOO!!
