  • maybe they're clearing out the old Macbooks for the new models coming in?

Regardless if its printed in a catalogue they should honour it and there should be some stock around as opposed to the sporadic online deals we've had recently!

    • +2

Yeah I think they are old stock.

IMO the new generation will awesome battery life is more worth it, considering people who use MBA are the ones spending most of the time without power supply.

    Its not a misprint.

Its prob they trying to clear out stock for the new gen of Macbook Airs.

If i needed a new mac i would but i have to sop buying things just because they are a bargain…..

  • +2

Not a misprint. I just stopped by a DS and they were there for $999.
My problem is, my 4yo MacBook Pro still hums along like a champ. Dammit.

not really that cheap - available as refurb from apple for $930. Apparently the new models battery life is immense and only $250 more.

    • +1

so you are saying that you prefer a refurb unit over a new(old model) one for $69 savings?

      • -1

I have no problem with refurb macs. I bought a 15" c2duo MBP 6 years ago and never had a problem with it. It was advertised with a 120gb hdd, but came with a 160gb. I'm guessing that was the part that was replaced. I sold that laptop 1 month ago for $320 cash. It was the crappy chipset too that only supported 3gb max ram (mine had 2gb, 667mhz).

        • -1

don't get me wrong, I have no problem with refurb units either IF the price is good. I have also purchased used units for half the price that lasted forever without dramas but brand new is brand new! :)

  • -1

    Yeah its the correct price.

I went to JB Hi Fi in Chatswood on the weekend to pricematch and got mine for $955 (13" and 128GB). Was going to purchase the new Air but couldn't get a discount anywhere. I needed one as I am travelling overseas on Thur and can claim the TRF and get GST back. Not a bad pick up for around $870 after TRF I'd say.

For me, I dont need super battery life and the performance is pretty much the same as the new Air. So definitely worth the $294 saving between the two models.

    • The CPU performance is similar, but the GPU and SSD are much faster. So the performance is only similar if you are encoding video/audio. For normal work and for gaming, the new model will feel a lot snappier.

<Edited due to updated info in header>

The only difference between the newly released model & this one is 7 hours battery vs 12 hours battery.

    • And graphics and massively faster SSD.

    • Also wireless AC, to use with the cheap routers that have been floating around.

Looking at Iwinstan's link it isn't a misprint but at $350 off is definitely a bargain.

    • +1

it isn't a misprint but at $350 off is definitely a bargain.

$350 off RRP means nothing. The 2013 model with much better battery life and graphics is $250 more.

Apple store is selling refurbished at $928 same spec I think

    http://store.apple.com/au/product/FD231X/A/refurbished-macbo…

  • Would the Woolworths Ltd staff members also get an extra 5% discount?

  • well this is the old model, the upgraded one, ….has 1.3GHz dual core i5/or 1.7GHz dual core i7
