I still can't take the name "Bupa" seriously - were they high when they thought that up?

      • +1 vote

I refuse to say "Boopah". I always say "B-U-P-A". People say to me "You mean Boopah?". I tell them, no, I mean B-U-P-A. I did say "EmBeEff", however, because that doesn't sound like a clown's horn.

Also if you're a carer for any of the at-risk categories, or if you work in an environment where you're in constant contact with them. (which incidentally gives decent GPs a way of giving free shots to almost anyone)

          Dunno…but I love that it says :

The clinic has a private collection room onsite where you can produce your sample via masturbation

Lol is there any other way of producing semen samples?

          and it goes on :

We have reading (…) material available to assist you producing your sample.

          Reading really??? :)

Lol is there any other way of producing semen samples?

Yes, electroejaculation. Very quick, typically under 10 seconds to obtain a sample. Just ask your vet. Not to be confused with electrostimulation (warning: this Wikipedia page contains explicit nudity).

          $300 yes, 30 seconds no.
Seems like they want around 5 donations ?
          Plus consultants, and testing time.

Oh yeah , and your time in 18 years time when your offspring contact you :)

        • +1 vote

Up to 10 women can have children (who are genetic siblings as a result of your sperm), so a donor could help create up to 10 families.

So 10 x 5 donations = 50 offsprings!!! plus our 3…Boy! we're going to need one massive dining table to seat everyone on Boxing day :O

I'm pretty sure we only have 2 kids…what r u trying to say? that was a typo, right? Right???

        •

@ wicket1120: A bed might have 50 off springs, but I think you mean offspring :p

        •

          Merriam-webster:

          off·spring noun \ˈȯf-ˌspriŋ\
          plural offspring also offsprings

          If M-webster says its acceptable….:P

        • +2 votes

The Macquarie Dictionary has as one of the definitions of offspring, "descendants collectively". No mention of "offsprings". The Oxford Online Dictionaries only have "offspring" as the plural. "Offsprings" must be an Americanism.

what's the RRP for these normally? :)

    • +4 votes

      RRP is

"as much as we can siphon from your taxes while accepting "Big Pharma" bribes while we they use you as guinea pigs to test new drugs. We sell it to you using YOUR taxes and telling you it's for your health; basically we call the stuff chocolate and you will comply because you trust us. The true cost is way beyond dollars and cents. Speaking of dollars and cents, your jaw would be permanently open if we told you the real cost to you, let alone the 'runaway funds' and black budgets along with general bureaucratic inefficiencies, so best to keep mum on that. The illusion of FREE is more pleasant."

      Happy health!

      Regards,
      Big Pharma & Big Gov.

@cheepwun:Your rant reminds me of a book by John le Carre, The constant gardener. His protagonist goes on a mission to uncover their unethical practices and suggest the former would go to the extent of killing anyone who might deign to challenge their unholy hegemony. Its a work of fiction.

Click the link and it takes you to an article talking about Medical Experimentation in Africa.

Lots of this still goes on, as well as having gone on in the past, with many unknowing populations. Your linkage just adds more fuel to the 'medical experimentation' fire.

The official response is that you cannot get flu from a flu vaccine because the vaccine contains dead flu virus.Dead virus cannot make you sick.

The unofficial response is this:linky Hope you're feeling better Mate.

    • +1 vote

      'Sick' can refer to anything.

The vaccination covers you for a strain of flu, not the common cold.
Symptoms of influenza usually are a lot more severe than the common cold; bed ridden for 1-2 weeks etc

  • -2 votes

You need this flu shot, there's a potential risk you might die with out it, go to MBF, if you missed out your vaccine from your work place which normally free. I was told this vaccine was last years shot? Don't know if that's true, but since flu always mutate its hard to know if these vaccine works as described.

We might have a World war Z of our own if the flu ain't treated correctly.

  • -1 vote

If your young and healthy you dont need a flu shot, alot of people get sick for a couple of days post flu injection because the immune system reacts to the dead virus to produce antibodies.

Its more for the elderly or the people that are prone on getting bad chest infections i.e people with COPD, Emphysema, Asthma, etc.

    •

I once got the flu (real flu, not man cold) in my early 20s, couldn't get out of bed for a week. Always gone the flu shot since

  • +2 votes

why healthy people flock like droves of sheep to the slaughter to get these 'flu' shots is beyond me?!
natural immunity works by having our best defense systems (skin/mucous linings) intact and healthy. After all, isn't that how 95% of viruses spread - through skin and mucous membranes?
I love these doctors who want to jab everyone and create artificial immunity by sticking a rod full of last years flu mixed with a whole bunch of other stuff you dont want to know about pass our best defense systems straight into the bloodstream.
funny, i stopped getting sick a long time ago when i stopped getting jabbed.
there's a lot to staying fit and healthy and maybe asking that question - if its free, do i still want it?
remember what they said about antibiotics only months ago, and yet they were churning the stuff out to every sick man, woman, child and the dog.
maybe world war Z isn't such fictional idea?

Did you actually take the trouble to read the post way up near the top that mentioned that this if for VULNERABLE people, "individuals aged 65 years and over
all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples aged 15 years and over
      pregnant women
individuals aged 6 months and over with medical conditions ……"

I'm sure they'd all love to be fit and healthy enough not to be at risk, but they are.
