Medion 32" LED 1080p TV for $199 @ eSOLD.com.au

220

Cheap TV. Real drawing point is the 1920x1080 resolution, which puts the pixel density around 740 per cm2

Power draw <75w
PVR function
DivX playback
VESA mountable

Ticks most of the right boxes, but it is a cheap brand, coming from esold, and the only time I've seen it at this price was for a refurb, so buyer beware.

Upside is shipping is extremely cheap (for me at least)$7 for V1 zone.

Pretty sure that I have this TV in my bedroom at the moment, purchased it from ALDI last year. Can't comment much on the TV functionality, as I have Foxtel connected to it. My main complaint is that you have to point the remote right at the TV for it to register. Very good value for money at $200.

    • Most budget TVs have very crappy IR remote and it needs to be direct line of sight.

  • The sound died on my parents one of these, took it back under warranty and got a full refund…

  • Looks like a good option for a dedicated android tv via usb dongle, very handy that this tv has a usb port

    • Exactly what I'm gonna use it for. Very tempted to get this for my bedroom

  • Could anyone tell me the HD Tuner is equal DVB Tuner or is another thing? Thanks.

    • +1

HD tuner means you will get all of the DVB channels. So this TV gets all channels currently available for free to air.
The cheaper/older TVs only had an SD tuner and could not get the new channels like 1, 73, etc.

FYI, HD just means High Definition, SD means Standard Definition. DVB means Digital Video Broadcast.

The list of HD DVB channels can be found here….
      http://www.freeview.com.au/channels/default.aspx?regionId=2

      • Very detail explain, thank you very much. ;) Thanks.

        • No worries.
          I should have mentioned properly….
The HD channels are ABC24, 7Mate, GEM, and One.

  • Is this worth buying over the $250 32" Soniq at JB?

  • its a refurb right?

    • what makes you think so?

    • I can't say for certain, buy Medions are Aldi brands. Why would it end up in esold?

      • exactly

surely they should be at Aldis?

doesnt say refurb so i will take it as new

        • yeah it's got a 12 month warranty, which isn't likely for a refurb.

  • Do you guys appear to know how much about is the postage cost?

$11.95 to the Gold Coast, pretty good for a tele!

  • anyone has bought from esold before? how is the process to claim warranty? easy? painful? Thx

My current claim for the iWell Juicer sold via them:

      Their reply:

"Sorry to hear there was some transit damage to your delivery.

Please find attached a pre paid return label to return the item to us for a refund.

Unfortunately we are unable put credit onto customer accounts we can most definitely process a refund for you when the item is returned.

Our paperwork says COD but we only process credit and pay pal transactions this is a technical error that is being fixed at the moment and you can ignore it."

Bu then, you need to know what the background of the claim, as follows:

In the following email, I attached the photos that shows the DEEP DENTs in both boxes & my invoice/delivery note.

Subject: Returning iWell Juicer (UNOPENED, still in ORIGINAL CONDITIONS as received by us)

      My Email contents:

      Hi there,

I would like to return the iWell Juicer bought.

Reason: When I am about to open it 3 days ago (Sunday), then I found the bottom of the pacaking carton was DEEPLY punched durig the desptach / transit. I opened the packaging box and found the Juicer's box itself was ALSO heavily punched. I don't want to open the box itself to see whether there's any damages done as it most likely meant lots of my effort & time in repacking the juicer & its accessories for return.

I want to return the unit (which ONLY has its plain brownish packaging box opened to see whether the juicer's box itself was damaged (and it was ACTUALLY DEEPLY punched as well!) for credit with your store.

I am not asking for money back, just store credit. In a need to give away the juicer as birthday present last Sunday as promised, I needed to buy buy another one promptly to replace the damaged one from your source.

You have the Pick Slip/Invoice & the 2 photoes that show the DEEP PUNCHES attached here for your reference. Funny thing is I paid with Credit Card on line before the item was despatched. Yet, the paperwork says its, "COD"!

It's my first time using you guys. Looking forward to buying more stuffs from you.

Thanks for your prompt action in advance!

  • Is it worth using this as a PC monitor/TV over just buying a monitor?

  • Excellent price. I have one of these and have no complaints except the USB playback is limited. Avi plays fine but not mP4. Not sure with Wav. Haven't tried other formats. But a decent android stick would circumvent this. Sound quality is reasonable. I would buy another if I needed one.

  • thanks for posting, picked 1 up, lets see how it goes.

Do you guys reckon this would be alright for gaming?

  • Has anyone's order moved out of the "Processing" stage as yet (mine has been at that stage since last Wednesday)?

    • I'm only 10k away from the depo and I'm stuck on the same.
Frustrating that pickups aren't allowed, even on an item this size.

  • Terrible company. No communication, no eta on delivery and not even a phone number to contact them on. Sent email yesterday morning and still no response. Would neg if I could

  • Mine is also stuck in "Processing" status since last Thursday. Emailed them today and the response was:

'We received a pallet load of TV's from the supplier that were severely damaged in transit and we are expecting replacement tomorrow or the day after.

Your order will be shipped straight away as soon as replacements arrive'

  • Status update - Order dispatched (7pm)
Guess I can look forward to it tomorrow.

    • Just received mine. Lighter than I expected

when u have a chance, can u comment on how your finding it?
it's $199 again, thinking of getting one as well

Well, it weighs 8kg, and consumes 0/55w idle/on
With the box looking the way it did, I thought it may have been refurb, but inside I found an Esold notice, so they may have opened the box to check it was all okay, which is more than fine by me. I did notice the controller bag was torn open and the TV was already tuned to AU channels. The bezzle is scratch free and there are no dead pixels, so however that happened I don't care.

Looks alright except on really white scenes, where the bleed on the edge is noticeable.
PVR works well, its quick and you can schedule recordings as well as timeshift.
Sound is fair. It sounds alright to me, but is very limited in terms of volume.
Channel surfing is snappy with the sound and epg, but the picture takes a few seconds to kick in.
Can play divx but not HD files

All up its a good choice for a small TV, I'm just not sure its that much better than the offerings from DSmith and JB, who in the past have sold this size with a built in dvd player for $250. Albeit those TVs usually have a lower resolution, but at this price point thats a moot point. I grabbed it to connect to a PC, but on trying that the picture is quite heavily overscanned and fuzzy. I was using a laptop though, so I will try it with a dedicated gpu to see if its any better.

        • Thanks for the quick review!

On laptops most iGPUs need a bit of coaxing to get the right timings. Are you using HDMI or VGA/D-sub?

  • I bought this TV as these days I'm not that picky, all are pretty damn good

  • Dammit, all out of stock. Testing over VGA the picture looks quite good, well at least as good as it can be, vga always looks terrible to me compared to dvi. would have been worth picking up another one.

Took a while but finally got mine and I have to say it's pretty impressive and dare I say a bargain.

  • Dear All,

Anyone has contact number for Esold? I purchased a 39" TCL TV found it had internal cracked ( looks OK but when turn on, it has big black ink mark across screen with crack), email their support but NO response .

    Thanks

    • dont think they have a contact number, just a webform on their site for enquiries

      on a sidenote:
ordered mine 30th june and it still has not shipped :(( got same response from them as above (awaiting replacement after the shipment was damaged blah-blah)

anyone else in the same boat?
