  • 2 Games only? The site doesn't say anything about trade in…

    • yes, its a resident evil 5 relase special, two games!

  • +1

    Ok I'm sold:

    More information here http://palgn.com.au/article.php?id=13826

  • Make sure you double check the "trade in exclusion" list so you don't waste a trip showing up there with Madden 06 or Crackdown which won't be accepted

  • PC version please |;-<

  • So if some old title is not on the exclusion list, can I assume they will accept that as a trade-in?

  • I wouldn't assume anything, I would check first, give them a call or pop in.

  • this is a seriously awesome game. loved the demo and will def buy it. for this price it's an absolute bargain! better than ebay prices!

Going to try within the next hour to trade 2 games in for RE:5 at JB Westfield Southland

    • Traded Timeshift (from GAME $12) and Devil May Cry 4 (from BIGW $29) @EB and the guy printed $119.95 on the receipt. Will try to play it but I think I will return it for store credit not very clean on zombies game and will get the 120GB during cashback period.

      • JB do not give you back store credit for traded games specials. They will try to give you back the same game, or the cost of the games you have traded in.

That was the answer the last time I asked them that question.

You should ask them again, so that you're not disappointed if you don't get $119 back for store credit.

        • I traded at EB not JB.

EB will give me back $119 store credit base on the receipt.

          • @superforever: so EBgames will accept any games like jb? (except for exclusion list) or do i have to tell them that jbhifi has this deal?
cause when i saw from ebgames website was trade 2 games and get this game for 30 bucks and they had a list of games that they wanted

            • @duph123: Yes you have to ask EB to match the JB deal.
But try your luck some EB won't accept the trade 2 to 1 deal but they will price match it for $84.

              • @superforever: ahh darn :( because the eb i goto when i last tried to price match from bigw guitar hero they said that there was no bigw near by so no price match so my guess since theres no jb near the eb i go to then no match :S now to go to jb

                • @duph123: That may depend on the particular EB. My local EB was happy to match JB's deal on the Xbox 360 Pro console package although the closest JB is about 200km away.

                  • @jakentta: damn it again rejected ffs man the one i goto is in north sydney, because i always go past it, and they still wont price match because there is no competitors in
the vacinitiy and the only jbhifi that i know that is close is like 3 stations away which is like a 10minute trip …. why no deal match :( meh jbhifi gets my games then :P

  • Just called JB Hi Fi in Brisbane City and they said they will accept any games towards the Resident Evil offer as long as they aren't on the exclusion list :D

  • so as long as you can do what superforever did, and find some 2 games for like $25-30 each which arnt on the exclusion list, your walking away with RE5 for $60?? thats a bargain if its true

  • KMart have a stack of trade bait at the moment in Chatswood Chase for 15-20 dollars.

    • Like what games?

Most are $30, $40 not very good trade bait

      Where you saw $15 $20

  • Anyone know if the trades ins have to be for the same system as your purchase?

    • As stated in the link posted above…

"Xbox 360 Games can only be traded towards the Xbox 360 version and PS3 games can only be traded towards the PS3 version. No multiples of same game accepted."

  • I grabed Spiderman 3 and The Club from EB Games Pre-Owned with my Edge card for $22.45 each and traded them in at JB HiFi for RE5 -> meaning I just got RE5 for $44.90 :D

  • Scan the EB Games games list page by page for possible deals, cross referencing JB's exclusion list as you go. And double-check the name of the game against JB's list - "Lord of the Rings: Battle…" might actually appear near the top of the list with the Bs and not the Ls as you would expect. This brought someone I know very well unstuck…lol.

Unfortunately there's no quick way of checking EB's games list, sorted by price. Just look for entries shaded in yellow.

  • the deal does expire, but on monday it just changes to trade 3 games and get it free not 2.

I plan to go into JB on Sunday and do this, but I'm a little concerned about on of the games on the exclusion list.. I wanted to trade my copy of Lego Indy in which I bought from EB pre-owned not long ago.
The exclusion list has the "Lego Indiana / Kung Fu Panda Twin Pack" listed.
I think my version of Lego Indy originally came with a console and was then traded back in as it has the EB logo on the back of the cover and says that it's not for resale.
I'm pretty sure the Twin Pack they are referring to is something like this:
    http://www.365games.co.uk/index.php?productID=4363
But I was hoping someone could confirm this seeing as this item is from a UK website… but I'm sure I saw these twin packs when looking at the xmas console deals.

So in saying all that… I think my copy of lego indy is ok as it's not on the exclusion list even though it says it's not for resale. What do you guys think?
BTW - you can still get Lego Indy pre-owned at EB for $20… good trade bait I reckon!!

    • If it was me, I'd just give them a call before I went explaining the situation and see what they say.

  • Thanks for the heads up. My plan is to go to cash converters and trade the simpsons game (still sealed) that i got for $20 using a deal posted some time ago and trade it for 2 games not on the exclusion list. If I cant do that, ill just buy enchanted arms for $19 and trade that in with the simpsons. Ill be doing that in my lunch break. Ill let you guys know if that worked.

  • just got mine at Brisbane CBD store no dramas. (PS3 version)
Had GT5 Prologue and brand new F.E.A.R (which i bought from GAME for $25)
The normal trade value of those was $12 and $15 respectively.

  • Well i went to cash converters and they said that they wouldnt trade new simpsons for fear ($25) and Enchanted arms ($19). They also said i need a bill so i said screw it and bought fear for $25 (i didnt get enchanted arms in the end as my friend wanted to trade his one in for resident evil).

I then went to JB after that and got resident evil. On the way back from JB, i picked up enchanted arms and Haze ($25) from cash converters which i will trade in at a JB near my place :)

How are people seeing this as a bargain?
2 games for one and you get what…. $20 something dollars off? Are you friggin' kidding?
Not to mention they exclude about 50 or more titles if your trading in for the 360 version.
This is a very shoddy deal indeed.

    • $40 for a new release game isn't good? Well whatever you're smoking, please pass the pipe :)

    • +2

This is clearly a bargain. It's a new release selling elsewhere for $120. Even if you don't have any games to trade you can pick up two $30 games off the shelf whilst you're in JB and take them to the counter. Pay for them and trade them in in one go. That would save you $24 off the JB (already bargain) price. How can you see 50% / $60+ off the RRP for picking up two empty boxes as being anything other than a bargain?

    • If you bought a bunch $5-$20 games from DSE during 2008 when they had their huge gaming clearance then its a bargain.
These games are still not on JB's exclusion list and seeing that there's hundreds if not thousands of 360 games out, then I don't see them ever being on their exclusion list.

  • Great Deal!!!
Picked up PS3 Resident Evil 5 for 2 crappy games.

Got each game from ebay for $25, Kane & Lynch and something baller some dodgy basketball game..
Now im going to play RE5 for a bit and than trade it for Street Fighter 4…

JB in Hoppers Crossing have tons of RE5!

  • Is the game any good though according to those who bought it?

  • +1

I just went to my local JB store and paid for 2 pre-owned games from their shelf - GT Prologue and Fear for $29 each, then told the girl not to bother looking up the discs coz I'm trading them back in for RE5. All in under 5mins. Sweet!.

  • +1

    I traded in 2 games for RE5 @ JB.
Then I bought 2 more games, and traded them in at EB (pricematching the JB deal) and got Halo Wars :D

    • while EB/GAME trade-in values are higher than JB, i had the same miserable time with GTA4 tradeins.

the process is gruesome. JB's systems are very picky, but if you've got lego star wars, and want halo wars, i'd choose ebay over JB-hifi 99 out of 100 times.

JB hifi's game exceptions are now up to 85 xbox 360 games, most of which are actually pretty decent games compared to the later shlocky EA-made sequels, often a $80 game on their shelves, is only valued at $9 as a tradein. to be fair, the average trade value is about $20 (JB) & $30 (EB) per xbox360 game.

here's an ecogamer list of games that Eb will give you more than $30 on http://www.ecogamer.com/images/stories/bargains09/2009-03-06…

the worst part is, EB/GAME force the RRP value of games that aren't on sale, and you really have to nail them down to get a competitors price match, especially on a trade-in sale, and it's completely up to the retailer to honor the price-match against jb-hifi.

i.e. you could trade in 3 games to EB, and still have to pay $50 to buy the game. so, you'd end up as eviltom did, buying 4 xbox360 games, and trading them in for 1 good game, or in the case of RE5, one average game.
