  • It's nice to know they do a 13% off now instead of 10%. I suppose they can afford it now they've sacked 120 Australian wokers from their contact centre and moved it to India (source).

    • That would be Expedia, not Hotels.com…

The deal has to be booked through the US Hotels.com site so this promotion didn't intersect with the Australian call centre anyway.

I can wholeheartedly say it did. These 120 people used to take calls for Hotels.com orgionating Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea, Sinapore and Malaysia. Regardless, my original comment was more an FYI for potential customers. I find Australian-based call centres generally offer better service if you run into any problems.

Number of times I have used Hotels.com website = At least 120 bookings
Number of times I have used Hotels.com call centre = Zero.

I suspect I am representative of their target market and whilst I've possibly made more bookings than some, it surely would come as no surprise that the call centre was not presenting a great deal of value add to a company focused on internet sales.

I assume you've phoned the call centre? You can create, modify, and cancel a booking online. I'm not sure what other service they offer though you mention problems. I suppose a hotel could fail to exist (or you make a booking, arrive and find it's undergoing renovations) but that's covered by travel insurance. Phoning Hotels.com at that moment isn't going to make the hotel any better, and you could again just be online finding another hotel yourself.

Why did you need to call them? I realise we've diverged from bargain discussion but I'm genuinely curious.

Can't answer for Bargain4U, but I, too, have booked through Hotels.com a few (20+) times.

"Why do you need to call them?"

One situation… Went to check-in . Staff says "room all full.. Sorry"… So argued with them with no avail. They said "nothing they can do, call your booking agent".

[now for the remaining story, not really related to your question]

Lucky Hotels.com had a local contact number and rang them up. They tried and talked to the hotel with no avail, then told me "you can book any other hotel on our website for a [whopping] 10% off!!". Mind you this was when I was already overseas, started my holidays. I politely told hotels.com to 'fly a kite'. They responded "ok 15%". Needless to say I wasn't impressed. I told them to 'fly 1.5 kites then!'. Eventually I demanded for a refund and a free room and they agreed.

My point is, while it is true that most cases would not need to call hotels.com directly, there are cases where a contact direct is required. While there was an 'interruption' of 3 hours (for our traveling party), it was very assuring that they had a number that I could call and sort out issues like this.

Its like condom, its better to have it and not use it, than need it and not have it! Thats my 2 cents worth anyway…

        • We should still care about Aussie losing their jobs. Ausooi, was that Lodging Operations (U.S. based) that were unhelpful?

        • I used one of those "Lucky Hotel"s once - disappointed I couldn't extend my stay for another hour of "accommodation"

  • On a more bargain related note, I've been checking various hotels in major cities and Las Vegas has good availability for this coupon (since the casinos tend to not be on the list of excluded chain hotels).

Guys visit Hotels.com's FB app HERE, you can get a 15% off coupon valid till 31st Dec 13, ends 30th June tho…

Since its a generator, sometimes you get the 15% off coupon straight away, if you don't just have at least 2 other FB accounts to try with, as the coupon generator produces 5%,10% & 15% off codes.

    • i had to use 3 fb accounts before i got the 15% off, but the other two were 10% so that's not too bad either.

  • Sorry - The offer you were looking for has now expired

But wait! We have great deals coming in all the time - have a look on this page for the place you are interested in.
