    for 5-star syd hotels i still found http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/79985 cheaper and https://www.my-bookings.com.au even more so

    the cheapest were found via http://www.wego.com.au or http://www.hotelscombined.com.au

    some hotels have a best rate guarantee, a few price beat by 25% :)

      im not saying ratestogo.com have the best rates. but a lot of hotels offer the same rates across multiple sites, so a 20% discount is generally very good.

      Becareful of price beat guarantees, as most sites are extremely strict (same day, same booking conditions, same currency, same country website). And some will not guarantee until you book and fill in a claim form - knowing that some hotels are non-refundable and if they knock back the price matc h you end up paying more.
