Someone else Signed for My Package... Cry with ME!!

mmm, just woke up not long ago and I decided to check up on my package that was sitting in a 8 day 'manifested' limbo when I happily find it's been delivered…..So I check with family to find out it never came here. So I run outside check the letterbox and….. nothing :( So yadda yadda yadda…. I call Auspost and find its been signed by someone else. Got a case opened, But I guess it finally happened to me…. :(

Same here. Happened with a pair of pants from hallenstein. Turned out the auspost delivery guy signed it himself out of laziness.

    • So he signed and left it in your Postbox or ….? What happened, I'm interested to know!?! :)

      • He never came. He just signed it and left it at the centre. I only found out when I called them. Thankfully it had a tracking id or I'd never find out!

        • Cheers for the reply, I'll try to keep you guys updated on what happens :P

    • hallenstein uses dhl, not auspost.

      • Yeah my bad, that's the one.

Nevertheless, from my experience, auspost contractors can be even worse sometimes by not leaving cards or sometimes leaving bulky items sitting in plain sight on top of the mailbox.

    • I thought DHL delivered Hallenstein packages? I was out when they attempted delivery, but came home to find it on my doorstep. I was happy with that, and would rather they do that than ask me to pickup at the depot or re-arrange delivery.

    • had a similar story. DHL tracking showed it signed and delivered when i got nothing with a signature that wasn't mine. after contacting Hallensteins they got DHL to "redeliver" but got the address wrong that they had to refund the whole purchase.

the twist is i got the said package one year after it happened, it just showed up on my porch with no address label so clearly my neighbour was in a good mood that day and i guess it didn't fit him

      • a year! geez a bit long eh? its funny ive always wondered when i'd have this issue….heard so many tales here and on whirlpool…

Postboxes cost a chunk, but I hate the risk of having this occur to me so it was a reasonably easy ongoing purchase to justify.

    • Aus post has free parcel lockers now.

        An interesting idea!
        Lots of exclusions, though:

"You can have any parcel sent to your 24/7 Parcel Locker, except:

•Letters and standard mail that can be delivered to your letterbox
        •Express Post letters
        •Parcels larger than 39cm x 36cm x 64cm
•Parcels that are heavier than 16kg
•Parcels that require proof of identity
•Parcels that require the recipient's ID to be recorded at delivery
•Parcels where there is a payment required on delivery
•Parcels that are damaged or unsuitably packaged
•Parcels delivered by a courier that has chosen not to deliver to our parcel lockers
        •Parcels containing alcohol
        •Parcels containing perishables "

  • Yeah I never get anything delivered that doesn't require a signature. My mother ordered a whole bunch of nail polish that I assumed was left on top of our mailbox. Someone took it and opened it…before deciding that the polish colour didn't suit them and chucked it into our neighbours front yard. Thankfully our neighbours were kind enough to return it to us in person :)

  • The problem is other couriers taking parcels ie. Dhl taking auspost parcels (check youtube).

    • I checked couldn't quite find what you were talking about….

I was expecting a parcel by Aus post and saw the postie drive up to the post pox and put something in.
"Damn" I'm thinking he didn't knock the door so must be a bill he left.
Went to the post box and he had left a card saying they knocked the door and no one answered…BS I was standing watching him, he never got off his bike!!
The other thing is the card must have been pre written because he didn't stop to write it

    • It happens, i usually know when a package should/does arrive but this package sat on 'manifested' for at least 8 days. But everybody was home so I suspect they delivered to the wrong address…. I sent a copy of my ID with my Sig on it so hopefully they can verify it wasn't me who signed for it.

UPDATE: Seems like my neighbor (whoever it was :) ) returned me my package intact and my games are now activate on uplay(yuck :( ). Called Auspost to cancel the investigation and got an update saying the contractor believes he delivered it to wrong address down the road (similar layout i guess). So I guess luck is on my side today….(Can't say MightyApe even cared to help Auspost's Investigation which was all I wanted from them and their replies where hardly helpful.) Thank's for listening guys!!!
