Telstra Android Phones. $2/Month Discount and $50 Google Play Voucher. HTC One, Galaxy S4,

150

Hi All,

Just noticed telstra have dropped the price on HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4 $2 per month. Also there is a $50 google play voucher included for these phones and the Sony Xperia Z which doesn't appear to have the $2 discount.

I think this is a great deal for anyone thinking of one of these phones.

Many thanks

Telstra is still way too expensive, good thing I live in the city so no need to get Telstra's good reception…

      I'll say! $50/month for $500 calls/1GB data .. LC charge $12 a month for that.

Oh sure, you get better "service" with Telstra, but you really are paying a premium for it!

    • different strokes for different folks,

recently i had the opportunity to test their network via the 10 for 30 prepaid sim and I am quite impressed with the speeds

      • Telstra 3G speeds are pretty good, 4G is just ok though in my opinion, Optus seems to beat Telstra when it comes to 4G speeds… But at the moment Vodafail 4G beats both of them no doubt, last time I helped my friend activating his voda 4G and did a speedtest… Solid 100mbp/s was impressive, my Virgin 4G (Optus) only got ~40mbp/s at the exact same spot.

I agree that Telstra is expensive but given they really don't do discounts etc, and they do have the best network around, i still think its a deal.

    • yep i have a Lumia 820 for work on Telstra and a personal HTC one on optus … lets just say there is no comparison … optus are pathetic if u compared the two networks.

    • Doesn't happen overnight but sure enough T is gradually putting those others out of business, reading from Red Bull Mobile Is Closing; just get on whole sale (aldimobile) effectively unmetered 25.00 access nextg incl. bolt-on 5gbyte. Good stuff.

I've been with a few different telcos over the years and don't mind paying the extra to have reliable coverage. It's when you find yourself out of the city that you'll need your phone most…

  • "Not using Windows or a Mac?
Our online shop is best experienced using Windows or a Mac. It may not work as well on other devices."

    that's pretty poor

    • They should cater for the 1% using linux?

Or you know… they could design the site to conform to the web standards that apply across any OS.

i'm using firefox. why shouldn't i expect the site to work properly? all the other sites i visit do.

I have both telstra and optus, when I'm out in the country I find neither one gets good reception. Sometimes optus is even better, because contrary to popular belief telstra doesn't always have towers where optus does and vise versa. If money isn't a concern and coverage is your main worry, it's better to be on both carrier's…

Read the title and thought a Telstra Android Phone for $2 was pretty good.
PM discount (even Cheaper in the afternoons?), and a $50 google Play Voucher included, amazing value, bargain of the year!

Dissapointed to find it is only $2 Per Month discount on the phone plans.
    Not such a good deal.

  • Eh, whats the Bargain here?

Apparently a couple of phones are $2/month cheaper than they were.
A massive discount of $48 over the course of a $1500+ 24 month plan!

little fact i just found out. im on telstra and brought a htc one three days ago from harvey norman not telstra.they are an optus seller if i remember correctly. i texted my imei to the telstra number and got the $50 voucher. let's see how many other people can stooge telstra.

    hack the system!!!

    • I assume that it probably doesn't work on prepaid?

      • give it a shot if you have android.

        • "Sorry, this offer is not available to pre-paid customers."

        • damn. i think my timing was just lucky.

text to 810 with IMEI to get Voucher…Worked

      • nice!! free mooney! sort of

  • h3l$tra and bargain is like chalk and cheese….

  • Bargain chaser did you buy a phone during the specified dates and was it through Telstra?
Just tried it and my 2 month old S4 and got the rejection message stipulating the purchase dates.
Wont bother with my month old xperia z now..

And to those saying Telstra is a rip off..
Play the game right and reap the benefits.

    • Got my phone today, HTC One from Vodaphone and the IMEI worked for the free $50 voucher but you have to get someone with a telstra sim to send the IMEI number and then give you the code once they receive the code to use in your google play account.

      • How long did it take to get the code after you sent the SMS?

  • Telstra phones come with a $10 prepaid sim so just activate it and send the sms.

  • Remember if u get a $30 telstra prepaid sim (often For $10) you can use the credit for $30 of google play.
U can still get the ipad sim acks at ozpost for $10 and they will rego it for a phone with a bit of running round.

  • Thanks worked great

  • I got a ipad sim pack activated it as a phone sent the text and got a msg that it's not for prepaid customers :( oh well can't win them all.

  • any tried to do it more than once if on telstra plan?

what's telstra's cheapest plan? anyone tried with mobile broadband plan?

    • Telstra and cheap don't go together.
