  • Seems like a pretty decent deal - and im on the lookout for an ASUS eeepc deal - can anyone confirm this is the cheapest you can get for an eeepc?

This is the cheapest alternative I could find:

  • Has anyone bought from online computers?

    Are they reliable?

    Thanks.

    • I bought the Asus e-box b202 from them recently when they had the $299 offer, they provided great service. Unfortunately it turned out the hard drive was faulty. It didn't take long to call them and arrange a replacement though.

Their main method of delivery is fastway which is a bit expensive, so we arranged to use Australian Air Express instead. They were happy to do so, and paid us for the return con-note. They swapped the box the same day they received it.

Their service is pretty good, although it might be a little hard to understand them on the phone!

      Cheers

      • yeah i bought the Asus E-box 202 from them too. No problems, although in hindsight i would rather buy xp loaded, than try and make a usb bootable version. If anyone needs help making a usb bootable, then pm me.

  • What's with all this "ReadyBoost" marketing gimmick nonsense?
They parade it around like it's holy.

ReadyBoost doesn't make a drive any faster in reading or writing, it simply means it's compatible with Vista's utterly useless "ReadyBoost" tool in which u can use a removable drive as a temporary cache to boost your memory.
But unless you're using 512Mb of RAM it'll have virtually no impact.

    • oh cool i didn't know that

    • well some tests I recall showed some, impact, just not a huge one.

That said, from my recollection ready boost only supported up to 4GB anyway. If thats so then you won't be using that full 8GB for ready boost anyway if that was your intention.

  • I recently bought a MSI wind black at online computer, and picked up at their sydney office. the price was the lowest from what I checked. the netbook is good so far… maybe I should wait till this offer come out…
