Great little camera with 12x zoom and HS sensor are worth considering

I thought about one of these when they were $79 a month or so ago at Dick Smith but came home and read a bad review saying a smartphone was not a lot worse.
I like Ixus cameras, particularly my Ixus 115HS, with a cmos sensor that makes it a little bit better in low light.
Old Ixus cameras had an irresistible solid, precision style about them but this one has a very cheap boxy shape.
Also be aware of the dreaded "lens error" fault that often occurs on ixus cameras due to the complicated lens mechanism.
Another review was a lot better with good 12x zoom shots.
Not a bargain, if it was $79 a month ago!

Good smartphone cameras are more than adequate for good P+S pics these days.
Add to that the larger battery life and the fact it means one less thing to carry and you are pointed in the right direction.
I got this camera. Shoots good photos for the price. Only negative is battery life is quite short.
