Seems pretty cool. I'd like to install it on the neighbours balcony(s) and toggle it from my place whilst giggling.

Are you able to give a review of how bright these are when you get yours set up?

  • Great concept and great price… but how powerful are these LEDs? What wattage output??

    • I had the same question. Finally found the information hidden in the website….

"At 7.5W these bulbs display more than 75Lumens of brightness per Watt, this is absolutely amazing. LEDs are the most energy efficient lighting source and do not need to be replaced for decades."

      • There's a FAQ on the main page.

        Brightness
White LED Light Bulbs – equivalent to a 60W light of 820 Lumens.
Color LED Light Bulbs – equivalent to a 40W light of 400 Lumens.

They still seem kind of expensive, a colour starter kit is US$63 + US$14.39 (cheapest delivery) = US$77.39 ~ AUD$84 for 2 bulbs.

        • Quick note: When you go to checkout, the shipping rates are cheaper than than cart estimates.

EG for a Colour starter kit + 2 white bulbs, shipping was estimated at US$18.24, but only charged US$10.23

        Ah nice work deal88. Thanks.

7.5W is do-able for most applications from my recent experiences with LED lighting… but only just and only if it truly is 7.5W. Output angle would also be nice to know.

        • Looking at the big half-sphere translucent diffuser on top, I'd imagine the output angle would be 180 degrees. :)

        • Agree 7.5W is not bad. Good light for areas like TV room, rumpas, may be even bedroom.
I currently use 9.5W (600lm)in those locations, so 7.5W should be ok - if it is a true measure.

For an area that need good quality light like kitchen or sewing room 7.5 would not be enough.
I currenty run the 16W Brightgreen D900 in my kitchen.

A New Zealand business, but I don't think the products are certified for Australian Safety Standards (or NZ ones either).

I think it is worth mentioning that you can't just buy the bulb and download the app. It needs a receiver plugged into the network for it to work. Was hoping for a $19 experience, which is now minimum $33 experience with ~$15 shipping. Ultra deal breaker for me :(

  • I wonder can I setup a timer on the app to turn on and turn off at a specific time.

    • Of course you can, you can even set those up from your phone.

What ever happened to good old fashion clapping to switch the lights?

    • You mean, good old fashion candles? I never have tried the clapping ones, I feel left out.

  • How far from the receiver can a bulb operate?

    • I assume it would be within your wifi network.

      • Hmmm if the lamp directly connects to the wifi, then why would we need a receiver? If I'm not wrong, you install the receiver(via lan?) on your network and the receiver sends RF on/off signals to the bulb. If that's the case it's a bit misleading calling the bulbs wifi

        • I don't think the first part is true. The lamp connects to the network via it's own receiver connected to the router. So it seems the distance for operation is based on 2 things:
          1. Bulb to receiver.
          2. Phone to wifi network.

        • if the bulb was wifi enabled then you wouldn't need a receiver for it, it doesn't make sense as you could simply connect it to your existing wifi network.
Edit: my apologies for the negative, it was an accident :)

        • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it works like this:

          • Bulbs have a 2.4Ghz RF receiver. Not Wifi 2.4Ghz, just RF.
          • Remote controls and network hub have 2.4Ghz transmistters. Not Wifi.
          • You plug the network hub into your router (or wired network port if you have your house hard wired) - the hub isn't Wifi.
          • You can then use your wifi device to talk to the hub (as a wired device on your network) which then sends a RF signal to the bulbs.
          • You may need multiple hubs connected to your wired network to cover a large house (or go through multiple walls).

At least that what it looks like to me.

Yes, I agree on this point and it would be nice for a direct wifi connection.

Ps. Can I neg you back? Haha.

        • I am thinking the same thing.

        • of course you can :)

So we all agree that the bulbs are NOT wifi!

        • So we all agree that the bulbs are NOT wifi!

I changed the title to "wifi controllable" more reflect the products features.

        • thank you, but it's still confusing IMHO

  • I guess the question is: do these bulbs just hook into the wifi network, or create a mesh and extend the network.

    • They all connect to the bridge unit, which is plugged into your router via Ethernet I believe.

    Hi,
I am apologies for my English.

This bulb is not wifi bulb. Actually, IT is working on RF and remote generate RF. However, you need "WiFi Receiver Bridge" for smart phone or iPad.
It is good bulb and lots of lighting option/mode in bulb also.
I bought this type of bulb 1 Year before and it is good for party decoration.

    • I read its FAQ and believe it is a 2.4GHz RF link between bulks and remote controllers / WiFi bridges. It may be 802.15.4 or Zigbee both have been implemented in a single chip (RF + CPU).

Just thought I would share my experience with this company as I have ordered from them twice now.

White lights are awesome, I'm considering replacing my entire house with them. They are just as bright as normal globes and colour temperature can be set to your liking which I find very important.

The initial reason I purchased these was for my sons room, he is 2 an we moved him to a big bed. Trouble was during the night he would get up and turn the light on an leave it on. We tried night lights but he keep unplugging them.

This is the perfect answer we just set it to the lowest setting before he goes to sleep. We then switch it over to night mode (only consumes 0.4 watts), night mode also works great for the hall way. If if turns the switch off and back on it just turns on at the last setting, being the lowest setting.

We also keep the remote out of reach at the door with a bit of Velcro to easily turn up if needed. We also have the app on phones so we can switch lights on or off as required from anywhere in the house.

The colour globes require a lot of improvement before using as actual lights but a good idea if setting the mood (not that that happens much with kids). I would not recommend the colour globes for anywhere you want to also use as a normal light. Apparently there is a new colour version which also contains white leds but I haven't tried it yet. The changing colour feature isn't that smooth either as it only has so many levels it can be quite harsh.

The app requires some improvement doesn't have any of the bells and whistles like the Philips app but gets the job done for basic features.

The price is by far the best part, these are actually cheaper than some led globes I have seen in shops which have no smarts in them at all! I also saw an ad on tv for the exact same globe but they were being advertised for $50!

There are other options out there such as Phillips hue and LiFx which are a lot more refined but they retail for about $80 a globe (LiFx is sold out until September).

Postage is very reasonable, cheaper than ordering from most stores locally.

Finally no I am not associated with the company just a happy customer :)

    • A great review! Thankyou.

    • I decided to buy the color lights kit and i received it this week. Installation was easy and smooth(after I realised the instruction manual was send via email to my junk folder). I'm very happy with the lights so far, i love the dimming function, perfect for the bedside table(baby loves them)
The only(?) thing that I miss is a timer function
