REBEL Sport 70% off Ski Apparel Sale - Australia Wide

840

Hi all,

Went to Forest Hill Rebel Sport and saw that they are having a 70% of ski sale. This is not 'up to' sale. Just 70% off. I got a children's snow gloves for $4.50. There are plenty of jackets/pants/gloves/etc left.

Went to Doncaster later and saw Rebels there had the same ski sale as well. So got a feeling might be for all stores. Picked up some neck warmers for $3 each. Handy even without going to the snow! Not sure when this deal ends.

I believe there should be lots of nice pickups so happy hunting!

Note: Sorry not sure what is covered under this 'ski', but do check with your local store first.

  • It seems to be in NSW too, Same deal at Castle towers. Got some gloves for $9 and ski socks for $3

Was 60percent off last week at fountain gate. Can imagine as stock lingers discounts would increase.

  • Can confirm this was at Northland yesterday. Picked up some ladies thermal tops for $6.

    • What is the quality like on the thermals?

      • OK I guess. The last ladies thermals I bought were from Kathmandu http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/107733 and they seem similar.

They had quite a lot of ladies stock at Northland (maybe because the only colour is purple) but next to nothing in the mens.

        • Thanks, I don't mind purple so will order a top and bottom with the free delivery, cross fingers on sizing.

        • The purple is quite nice actually.

  • What's the quality like compare to Burton etc?

  • quality imo is on par with bigger brands in the sub $300 range. This is ridiculous value , i would stick with the elude/rojo gear myself.

    Free shipping on clothing online.

    • Thanks, just got men's thermal pants for $6 and some Russel Athletic gloves for $3. Nice!

  • Can confirm Hornsby is running the sale aswell

  • Can I get full refund from a store if the size doesn't fit or don't like?
I ordered few online last night.
Also can I pick up locally and cancel those items from order?
Price seems to be really good but I know nothing about snow gear or brands.

  • Anyone know if anything is left at the one in Prahran?

    • I can now confirm that there is. Got goggles, thermals, pants and some other stuff. So cheap.

  • Anyone know how to size the Mens Thermals? $6 is as solid deal.

    • I rekn. Only smalls left in the mens thermal top though :(

      • ive previously bought one size smaller than i normally wear for clothing in thermals, i wouldnt rely on that though

    Many thanks OP.

  • Cheers. Picked up a few things. ~210 for 60. Not bad.:)

It was just 50% at sydney cbd a few days ago, now hopping by Monday it's 80%-100a% off lol.

    • It was 50% off Artic Star gear
Otherwise, 30% off Rojo from memory.
There's not enough stock for 80%-100% off

  • Nice one thanks! Got boots, socks, goggles, thermals at forest hill for $39! Not a great deal left now

  • Didn't find any ski gear at Rosny, TAS :(

  • Use qwibble for 6% cash back :P

Wow it's even cheaper than the Aldi stuff…
Grabbed some boots and neck warmers as well. Thanks OP!

  • Thanks….. just pick up lot of stuff for $180..

  • Thanks.. $450 buck worth of gear for just $135… very cool…or is that warm now..

the price seems back to 50% instead 70% off

    • Yeh, in the search they appear as 70% off but the detailed page says 50% off.

  • Is anyone else having the issue with online buying of the price changing to a higher amount once you click on it to be added to your basket? What am I doing wrong?

    • Same here…. Went to store in Blacktown as well and it is back to 50%…. Sale should be until next weekend as shown in their FB account yesterday

  • called online sales customer service, they honored 70% while they are fixing the issues. So call now before it's too late.

    • Hi Thomas. What did the sale rep told you. Are they changing it back to 70% off or they just fix the price for you in particular?

  • This is false advertising. Yesterday i went to the Lidcome store and the sale poster said 70% off till 4 th August. Come back today to get more stuff and it went down to 50% off…what can i do to make them honour the 70% off?

    • Take a photo of the 4th August date and tell the ski dept manager about it.
I didn't see a date on the poster

      • Yeah. It was an a4 poster with very smal print at bottom stating sale start27/7 and ends 4/8

  • The poster is gone.i did not take a piture when i was there yesterday :(

I spoke to one of the girl that work in ther, she said apparrently they were losing too much money on ski gear. So they cancel the 70%off sale

  • I just bought several hundred dollars worth of gear today, at both Castle Hill and George St store. it was 70% off at both stores though they had to manually input the extra 20% discount, as it priced at 50% off when scanned. The cashier just put it in as a "manager's discount" and I didn't need to dispute it at all. Very happy! we now have almost all the ski apparel needed for a family of three for probably not much more than it costs to hire the gear over a couple seasons!

  • I purchased quite a bit of stuff online yesterday at 70% off. They'll get into trouble if they don't honour it as I'll take it to Consumer Affairs. Very dodgy of them to increase the prices because of the demand so they can get a few extra dollars. A good way to get their clientele offside.

That attitude makes OzBargain members sound like a pack of hungry vultures :|

  • My thermals came today, they seem good for the price. Just went to order a couple more and the price has jumped from $6 to $10.

Got mine today less than 48 hours after I ordered it. Well Done Rebel! Never expected to receive it so quickly. Was a little worried after reading that they increased their prices if I'd get my order at all. The quality is excellent for the price. I wonder if they made a mistake and that's why they increased the prices? Still think it's a bad PR exercise by doing so.

They never advertised this on TV or with a finish date (I didn't see one), this was a user-submitted bargain. They also delivered the orders with 70% off.
They decreased the discount, not really "increased the prices", nothing illegal about that..

      • Hey cwongtech, are you a Rebel Rep? Sure sounds like it. Just to refresh your memory, Bargainfinder said there was a poster stating the discount was 70% at the Lidcombe store. Just because it wasn't advertised on TV doesn't mean it wasn't advertised at all.

        • +2

I should probably tick the box since I'm an employee, and have done so now.. didn't want messages from OzB spamming me for questions regarding them or disclose possible leads to my employment and online shopping [Im an OzB member, I don't really wish to be classified as a 'rep' but there you go, I think there should be an 'Employee' tag rather than 'Rep'] :/
There was a 70% off poster instore indeed at one of the mentioned stores in this post. Regardless, I would still not change my views whether I worked for them or not, it's not illegal to set an RRP then decrease the discount when it doesn't have an end date. One of the above mentioned stores honoured the 70% off after the sign was changed, I'm sure you can narrow it down to the store I work at.
I work in footwear, but I can see the cost price of the products (just need a store computer), at 70% off, it's better than staff price and also they wouldn't have made any money after factoring postage in for sure..It was 50% off Arctic star and 30% off everything else (ski) at one point in time. The 70% off were issued under head office/central management, and apparently they had way too much stock.
There's not much perks to be working there, online prices are better than staff price for shoes, I hope you understand why I didn't disclose my employment with them, but even if the Deal wasn't about Rebel, OzB members here nowadays are kicking up hissy fits about almost everything, you guys are sure hard to please, I'm willing to bet there will be people asking me about their order numbers and when it will be shipped.
I'll reveal this though, we've had calls from the online sales team requesting stock from physical stores (for other things) so while you may not get your order now, I'm fairly certain they will strive to source the stock from physical stores so they deliver. And if they can't, well most likely there is no physical stock around Australia for the item you ordered.

  • Signs said 50% off at Greensborough store yesterday.

Just checked my online order (from 28th) and it still says To Be Shipped.

    • Just received 2 of the 7 items I ordered. Paperwork says remaining items coming from multiple locations.

I just spoke to someone in-store as well, and was told that "head office changed it", such that the 70% discount had come back down to 50%. No other explanation. Which is fair enough, not his fault if that's all the information he was given.

But I do feel this is poor form from Rebel. Someone posted earlier that it had been advertised on their Facebook page with an end date of 4 Aug. That's a public statement by Rebel - so to now retract that without explanation is rather unprofessional (even if not illegal). Also, I couldn't find any mention of the ski sale on their FB page anymore, so I suspect they've deleted it. Which just reflects even more poorly on them.

And to clarify - I didn't have my heart set on anything, was just keen to check it out to see if I could pick up some cheap backup gear, so I'm not whinging just because I missed out on something.

I believe you were referring to this:

Yesterday i went to the Lidcome store and the sale poster said 70% off till 4 th August.

I think you may have mistaken a claim of instore advertising with an end-date with their Facebook page advertising it. I certainly acknowledge the 70% off ski sign, but I definitely don't recall ever seeing any Sale posters instore with an end date..
I'm not the rebel sport rep, just a lowly employee, rage on their FB page, you'll receive more attention there regarding your concerns.

  • Bit Worried last to last night I placed an order online & yesterday I received an email saying ur cc details r not correct so I rang them & gave my cc details again the lady I spoke to confirmed me ur order has been updated & if u recieve any order cancelation email from us just ignore it.Last I received cancellation order email & didn't get any payment deducted from my account yet.I m bit worried they r going to send my order. Is this happened with someone else too?

  • I bought $139 worth of ski clothing, mostly thermals, fleece and some kids ski jackets/pants (18 items in total). All but three items arrived within 3 days via courier. Getting refunded for the 3 items according to an email from them. The 15 items came from 5 different stores! Miranda, Warringah, Penrith, Greensborough Vic and Merrylands. Pretty happy, and good service I think.

  • My 2 items that I ordered on 29/7 are still saying 'To be shipped'.

    • +1

Mine too, for an order placed on the 28th (2 sets of goggle, two sets of gloves).

I'm not in a rush for it, but I hope they are in stock!

    • I've gotten one of the items (a pair of boots) but I'm still waiting for my jumper.
I also got an invoice inside the box stating both items.

      Better contact them about this.

      • Darn, turns out it'll be cancelled.

        • Got my partial refund today.

  • Received 1 out of 3 items, the latter two will be cancelled. Got same email above.

    Oh well, good deal OP.

  • Just got informed that none of my order will be fulfilled. What a joke! I put my order in 2 minutes after this deal started meaning I beat up to 90% of all the ozbargainers yet my stuff isn't going to get delivered

  • I just saw my credit card has only been charged $27 instead if the $54 my order came too. Half of it must be unavailable… It would have been nice to get an email to that effect - so far I've heard nothing :(

    • I have recieved three of my ordered 4 items, despite only being charged for two of them… Waiting to see if they charge my credit card for the last item (it was shipped separately). The other two were charged prior to they were shipped.

  • Anyone who paid with paypal received a refund yet? May have to contact them.

    • I rang them this morning and was told that payments made by paypal cannot be refunded at the moment because their paypal account has been frozen! She could not give me a timeframe but assured me I would eventually receive a refund.
I told her an email to let customers know would have been great - she told me emails had been sent. Anyone receive one?

We've reviewed your order and regret to advise we’re unable to fulfill part of your order and the following item(s) will be cancelled:

Arctic Star Men's 1/4 Zip Micro Fleece medium

Arctic Star Girl's 1/4 Zip Micro Fleece size 14

Arctic Star Premium Women's Ski Jacket size 10

Arctic Star Minx Women's Ski Pants size 10

Been waiting 10 days for my items; and now I have been informed that they cant fulfill my order, as I payed via Paypal I will have to wait another 2 weeks for my refund.
By far the worst online experience and customer service I have ever had from a major retail outlet, I was hoping to purchase some other items but they were "out of stock" online. Surely if they do not have the items I did buy, then their online service should indicate or be a true reflection of their correct stock totals.

    • -1

Just wanted to say, the stock-level system updates at the end of the day.. and totals are corrected about once every half a year (stock-take) per store to write-off "Missing" stock (stolen most likely). It's frustrating for in-store staff as well when the stock levels aren't accurate.
If you would like to take a look, our computers in-store look like we're running a data-base in Command prompt http://www.as400tutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/as4….
Btw, I won't be able to help you out with your order - I'm a lowly employee in-store
Try raging on their facebook page to express your dissatisfaction, might be able to get a better response.

  • Thanks cwongtech; I was more frustrated that it took them 10 days from the time of my order to advise me that I would not be getting my stock, otherwise I could have tried to purchase in store.

btw. I will be raging on their FB page

  • I received my refund on Friday but it was the wrong amount so had to ring them to get it fixed.

So hopefully all paypal refunds will be sorted - just make sure you check you have been refunded the correct amount.
