mate, on the road price means driveaway price. And yes Auto means Automatic transmission.

        • +8

Ouch, tough crowd. I figured the mood would be pretty sombre tonight - I didn't see any free burgers posted ;)

        • +1

I would vote your comment up 10,000 if I could.

        • +1

what do you think it means? drives by itself like a plane on autopilot lol.

    • yeah, i would assume drive away price with auto transmission

      • Correct

        • What about shipping ?
          Can be picked up ?

    • +1

      Amazing price!

  • +6

Drive away = on the road (same thing). Automatic Transmission. Sorry about the jargon.

    • hey rep, so u think manual would be cheaper??

      • Yes

  • +76

    can you pricematch at officeworks?

    • +37

No its not the same model. :D

      • +61

Dont need one but bought it anyway :)
        Thx OP

        • +1

Shh, nobody tell Broden that they lose 20% of their value as soon as you drive them away.

      • +1

Do they accept ING Paywave in 204 x $99 increments?

    • +10

surprise it got so many + considering the joke has been done to death

      • +3

Come on, it's freaking hilarious, never gets old!

      • +18

I paid for mine in 220 lots of $99 ING paywave transactions. Took all weekend but it was worth it.

      • -6

Indeed. Every single post on ozbargain that I read has this comment. IMHO it wasn't funny the first time and certainly isn't now.

  • it's a good price for an auto. At this price i thought it was a manual

  • Before I can see the offer you mention, it seems I have to supply you with my personal details.
    Why?

Can I see the offer first?

    • +14

The way we normally work is to communicate with you via email and mobile (voice and text). Those are the only details we need - just so we can contact you.
As far as the offer, it's from an authorised franchised Mazda dealer - not us. All we do is to put you in touch with the dealership. Or, more accurately, we pass your contact details to the dealership and they then make the offer.
That's generally how car brokers work. We get paid a fee from the dealership when we refer a buyer. So we go out there and get the best price for the client. That's our business model.

.. and to continue just one step further: If you like the offer, the dealer draws up a sales agreement with your name on it (and your driver's licence and DOB + address). Then you get that via email. You look it over, sign it and return.

Again - not all dealers use that exact method. It is fairly common for dealerships to sell cars with no sales agreement. (Yes, I know it sounds insane). In those cases, you just get a detailed Tax Invoice when it's time to pay.

      • So the price is from a specific dealer. How does this work when the car dealership is in a different city or state to me?

        • +11

Well, as stated this is Sydney. If you are regional NSW, you can come pick it up, or the dealer will drive it to your place and drop it off (normally at no charge).
If you want truck transport, that is extra.

If you're outside of NSW, the onroad costs are different. We would most likely organise it via a dealership in your state. There are too many variables to explain all the options.

That's why we like to make a 2 minute phone call to determine the best course of action.

      • +3

Dude you guys need to work on your website.. Looks crap… No offence

        • +1

Looks like the MSY of the automotive industry…

  • +8

I would probably snap one of these up.. but I am saving my money for a car

  • good price for descent cr

    • +7

Would be even better if the car went uphill as well, though.

      • Gold.

    1. There is a brand new Mazda 3 coming in the first quarter of 2014

I clicked on this deal purely to mention this fact and found you had written it in the post, instead I've added a plus purely for the honesty. I'm seriously impressed and will consider contacting you to buy my next car. My wife likes the look of the new Mazda 3 so we'll probably be waiting until next year.

    • +12

Thanks for acknowledging that. We always take the long term view and it's in our interest to not have clients feeling mislead 5 or 6 years later when they might be in the market again.

    • 2014 Mazda 3 Neo Auto skyactive direct injection (5.7L/100k) will be $26k drive away… There is always a premium "un-discounted" price for the introduction of a new model ( Best in class car from early reviews http://www.caradvice.com.au/241469/2014-mazda-3-review/ )

4-6 Months down the track the 2014 M3 neo Auto will drop to $24k drive away "haggled" :) and another 12 months later will be $22k Drive away haggled.

      • +19

Maybe not if the dollar keeps sliding. But it's anyone's guess, really. Don't buy a car if you don't need it. If you do, on the other hand….

    • +7

      Totally agree.
I am really impressed that this rep has the integrity to be so open and transparent about the potential drawbacks customers may see in a deal.
Usually they just focus on all the positives which are not necessarily false, but they just fail to acknowledge any sort of negatives.
      Thanks rep!

  • +1

Good price. I don't buy cars frequently, but nice to see some actually good car deals here. This is a great price, especially with the auto transmission.

  • My wife needs a new car

    Must have satmap

Also at least a couple of these feature

    1. Parking assist
    2. blind spot camera
    3. Reverse camera
    4. stop assist

She is not a great driver!! What do you recommend? Will the New 3's have any of these?

    • Mazda CX5 has a

      Reverse camera with Parking assist

add rear and front sensors and your set.. but a smaller car with parking sensors would be the best option.. smaller cars are easier to park.

      • +1

CX-5 also has blind spot sensors

        • +1

Only in the $50K+ CX-5 Akera.

    • +1

Being a bad driver, one would think 27 airbags would be on top of your list. Or at least the "stop assist" :)

      • +32

I already have stop assist in my list.. Its reversing where she sucks.. Just got my car back from panel beaters. They just fixed both sides of my car where a letterbox and a post failed to give way on different occasions.

    • +50

      I recommend public transport

      • +1

@Brou3r- Be glad you don't live in Sydney (I'm assuming Perth is cheaper?). I love this place, but public transport is not Ozbargainly priced here :(

    • +4

      I would recommend a bus.
As a passenger that is ;)

edit: ^ beat me to it!

    • VF Commodore, self parking

      • Lol. Commodore.

    • New golf has all above except blind spot camera (who does? Range rover?). With park assist, the car can reverse parallel park and reverse perpendicular park via automated steering and space detection.
Good luck with haggling for vw golf and let me know how you go!
P.s.: Dont forget to add panoramic sunroof. Hehe

        • Why's that?

        • +1

Because cheap charlie probably doesn't even own a Golf with DSG, but has watched today tonight, so must be an expert on the new Mk VII Golf.

        • ^ VW Fanboy, you misspelt Scirocco

    • +1

Get her a Hilux…its the other cars that need to be afraid.

    • +4

She is not a great driver!! What do you recommend?

      More lessons!

      • Couldn't have said it better.

    • price, style, size??

for example, in the under/close to $30k hatch class you might be able to get most of that stuff with the i30 elite/premium and the Cruze SRI-V - these are probably the most 'gadget packed' hatches in that range(whether they are the 'best' is a different issue, depending on what you perceive as being required for 'the best')

As a general rule, for any given price the Korean cars (Hyundai, Kia) have more stuff than the Japanese (Mazda, Misubishi, Nissan etc), which in turn have more stuff than the Europeans (VW etc). The Australians vary.

  • Great price.

  • +26

Good deal considering what a full tank of fuel is worth. That makes the car like $20, right?

    • +2

And a year of rego, they're paying you to buy this!

  • +4

Full tank of fuel is standard on all new Mazda's (and has been for years).

  • It seems hard to find deals for cars.
So this is the kind of website you would go to for car deals. Carbroker.com.au
Does anyone recommend any other sites like carsales.com.au?

  • Hi Ozbargainers, im 19 years old, I was considering buying a 2004 mazda 3 hatch for 11.900 , should I just go for this deal D:???

    • You seriously going for advice on a major purchase from strangers in a forum?!

      • +9

you're like family to me but (if you get +2 upvote or more)

        • +6

seems very pricey for a nearly 10 year old car

        • +2

yeah it is very expensive for a 2004. I have seen SP23, auto with around 70k for less than that.

        • -3

your family to me to… Hugie time PS: go for this deal… you will not regret it at all.. amazing price! the price is a STEAL

    • if you have the money why not.. most 19 year olds don't even have close to 12k to spend

    • Way too expensive, you can get 2008 Mazda3 Models for around that price(which usually have more features, i.e. AUX)

    • -3

Are you serious? I would get a camry 2010-2011 for that price

    • +1

mate, I am about to sell a 2007 3 hatch with 101kms for about 10k.
I suggest what you are looking at is overpriced.

    • +3

Mate, if you are in sydney, jump on to manheim.com.au. They deal in Govt fleet cars. You can get good cars(3-4 yrs old for around 10-14k.

The best part is those cars have done between 30-60k kms. Small cars would ofcourse cost much cheaper than that. You might get a 2008 or later model for under 10k.

      • +2

I would never touch an ex Government/mining car. If its done 60k kms, the car will feel like its done 600k.

        • +2

mate. bought one… and I'm damn happy with it..

    • If you are getting a loan, yes just go ahead and get it new, you can get a good deal on interest rates for new cars.

If you have the cash… stick to around 10k.

    • +1

Save your money. Just remember buying the car isn't just the only cost.

    • -3

      Don't get a Mazda.
It's an overrated brand in Australia.

  • -1

Get one before they get broden'd

  • Is this Sydney only?

    • +1

Onroad costs vary from state to state. This is a specific deal in Sydney, but we can do similar elsewhere.

  • -2

Oooh full tank of fuel, theres $40

    • +13

55L capacity means more like $85. Better in your pocket than in a car dealer's pocket.

      • As I said earlier, a full tank of fuel is standard policy for all new Mazda's. It's NOT a dealer (or your deal) 'gift'.

My 07 SP23 had it, as did my brother's 04 Maxx when he bought his.

        • +1

in 2007 i got a "NEW Generation" current look! 2007 Mazda 2 Neo Auto, with a quarter of a tank of fuel from Black town Mazda..

bran new from the dealer! paid $20,500 for it So no they do NOT always give you a full tank!

My new 2009 Mazda 3 came with a full tank though! :)

        • Well you should have told Mazda about that when they sent you the questionnaire after you got the car.
I know for a fact it's Mazda policy. It's well known on Mazda forums and has been told by Mazda Australia to me on the phone and also a mate who works at a Mazda dealership.

        • long time ozmazdaclub forum member and whirlpool forum poster.. lots of people who have purchased mazda's have NOT got a full tank.. its happens more then you think… policy or not its really up to the dealer! if they do it or not even if they get reprimanded by mazda Australia

They can always use the excuse it was a mistake by some new employee at the service center.
But 9 out of 10 times people dont say anything

I didn't even know i was entitled to a full tank in 2007 .. how was i supposed to know ALLOT of others dont know either! only what the Sales guy tells them.

Ohh and in 2009,.. the dealer passed the full tank of fuel off like it was something special!!!! NO JOKE!

    • +2

Please point me to where you buy your fuel!

  • would you offer the same deal for Sedan model as well?

    • +2

      Yes, Sedan too!

  • As it happens my partner and I are very much in the market for a Mazda 3.
I've just sent a form in asking about prices on each model and will report
back with findings. Nothing ventured… you know the rest.

  • Wasn't going to, but then I saw the full tank of fuel. Will siphon it into my Hyundai quite nicely.

  • +1

    Great pricing for sure…
Just be aware that this car cost approx $1800 more to service in a three year period (compared to say a Corolla)
have been looking at a new vehicle for a while.

Also the new model will use a fair bit less fuel…so if u drive a lot might be best to check your figures.

EDIT: just umm borrowed this info from a whirly poster.

    v8fireworks writes…

By some quite aritmetic if you compare the current Neo (8L/100km) to the new Skyactiv (<6L/100km) that will be the standard engine and go by $1.60 per litre, that's $500 right there if you do 15,000 km in the year."

    • It cost <$400 for the 6monthly/10000km service from the dealer, normally around $350 (half as much at private mechanics).
While I agree that it is not cheap for a car that's worth ~$20k, your average Mazda3 Neo driver would only rack up $2100 of service over three years.

So you're saying the Corolla cost $100 a year in servicing?
That wasn't the experience we had with our '01 Corolla (back when it was new).

On topic, If the 2014 Mazda is still using the same chassis as the previous 4 or so models it will likely suffer the same problem of high road noise when traveling over 100km/h (especially the hatchback variant).

Also with the hatchback variant (not sure about sedan) if you drive at over 60km/h with two (both front or back) windows down it will cause a weird resonance (pressure zone) that makes it feel like you are standing under a helicopter that is about to take off and it can get nauseating. I've heard it happens to other cars but this was the only car that I felt the effect to be very noticeable.

      • +1

New 2014 Mazda does not use the same chassis and has 60mm longer wheelbase and 40mm wider. Journos who recently drove the new 3 in California commented that road noise seemed better in the new model however the caveat was that they did not know what tyres Mazda Australia would sell on the car and thus road noise could still be not as good as other small cars.

      • +1

        @ uncojoe

        Mazda over 3 years (6 Services)$1993
        Toyota over 3 years (6 services)$780

But you need to look at your driving conditions etc

(worked out $1800 more for me approx)

        • +1 for you guys, I stand corrected.

        • Sure, if you get it serviced at a dealership. All the dealerships I've gone to have been absolutely crap.

Now get it done at an Ultratune as the owner is a friend of a friend and he does a brilliant job.

        • +1

          Mazda 3 owner here… lol

3 years of serving it at $160 every 6 months at Ultra Tune with 1 mager service costing $300

          Total $1100

VS Toyota's Capped priced Serving $720+
All the extra pushy service centre guys trying to sell fuel injection cleaning or some other extra to charge you more then the $120.. Its really really annoying they almost force it on you like your car will break down if you dont get it done! ALLOT of young girls driving Yaris's fall for it every time!
