  • Are these real Stanleys or fakes?

It says they ship from Hong Kong?

    • hi, jv,
It is real Stanley. And yes, we ship from Hongkong.

  • +1

Coming from hong kong, I question its authenticity

  • +4

Is Stanley one of those brands who had a reputaion for quality back in the day but have been acquired by some hedge fund and now they make crap, or is Stanley still Stanley?

    • +4

      Correct
Olde school Stanley made good quality steel.
Modern Stanley made from slightly hardened metal-colored cheese.

      EDIT:
Rep are you SURE? These look identical to the crap sold at every Kmart/junkshop and market for $1-2?

      • +1

        dammit…

what's a good set to buy these days…

        • +1

Very much true. Stanley were one of the best tool makers. I got stuff from them that is 15, 30 , 60 years old from them and still work like day one. Made in USA, Australia, Canada, England.

Now they are just cheap rubbish brand. No better then $2 store stuff.

        • +1

This set will be fine I'm sure, but if your after a top quality set at a reasonable price then I'd recommend these - https://www.tradetools.com/products/2106

        • Who makes those? They look like generic Chinese tools.

        • +1

Tradetools are great. Everything is made in china these days, good and bad quality.

Tradetools source high quality gear from china, test it in the field, and if its good enough they stamp their branding on it and sell at a decent price. They sell primarily to tradies who need good quality tools that last.

So basically you get high quality gear without the brand name price tag, though yes some of it does appear generic/cheap at first.

You really do have to see to believe though - see if one of their stores is near you.

Not associated with them btw, just a fan.

        • Yeah well I had many tools in my life time. I also do some watch fixing as a hobby and I know that Chinese tools are never as good as the Swiss, USA and English made tools.

Still the above tools would be good for home use.

        • +3

I think Macgyver ought to know!

        • +4

by tools he means a capsicum, pair of matching toothpicks and a water buffalo to fix watches…..

        • Yep. I think it's primarily in their metallurgy skills.

    • +1

I know enough about Stanley stuff past and present to know that they're are indeed not the brand they once were, but even going back a long time, they produced some good tools but alot of very average ones as well.
Close-ups of these screwdrivers look ABSOLUTELY identical to a couple of generic sets I've had over the years. No particular reason to think the metal in the tips will be any better than the ones I have.
Keenly match the screwdriver to the screw size, treat everything as gently as you can, and even the little ones will last for a bit.

  • +6

Are these left handed or right handed screwdrivers?

    • +1

Hi, I can't understand you. Can you explain to me?

      • He's joking rep, don't worry :)

        • +1

Maybe he shouldn't joke a English dyslexic like me. ><

        • What is dyslex.. ?

        • reading and saying disable…lol

        • He/she is saying they have Dyslexia.

        • -2

He just made a joke duh

    • +3

      +1 for the dad joke.

  • i would just buy the cheapest set of these you can find, if you manage to break one you're probably using the wrong tool for the job anyway. Unless of course you work with electronics every day, in which case you probably already own a more ergonomic set

  • bought one. thanks

  • These might be "Stanley" branded, but the metal handle type is really hard to grip when working with tight screws.

  • +1

    Hi Rep,

Will you be getting more Stanley products in the future?

I would be interested in the larger screwdriver and socket sets at a good price.

    • I would be interested as well. There are still quite a few decent looking Stanley 1/2" socket sets in the auto stores. I'd be interested if we could buy them cheaper?

  • Tmart Rep, you have advertised this product "100 Pcs 2.5" IBM Levono Hard Drive Screws Black" on your website for more than past one month as being available in stock. I placed orders for this item twice and first time I was told to wait for more than a month to receive the item which I did not accept and cancelled the order in frustration to get full refund. I have placed the order second time on 27 July 2013 because your staff told me earlier that this item will be back in stock on 22 July 2013 which was a misleading information because upon chatting with your staff again today, I was told to wait for more than a month again. Why would you advertise a product which is never in stock and mislead customers, then make lame excuses that please wait for one month to get your item? This is a great example of third class customer service.

Ozbargainers, please note that this item is currently listed as being available in stock, ready to get delivered within their advertised timeframe. They make no mention that this product is not available for delivery within their normal delivery timeframe to Australia. I just wanted to let OZBargain Community know about this kind of misleading customer service from Tmart.com

    • Hi, saty1293,

Sorry to hear that. Can you give me your order number so that I can help to check it out. If the product is out of HK stock, usually we will send it out from our US stock. So I guess there maybe something misunderstanding.

  • Not buying from Tmart again, not since those rip-off "3500mAh" Ultrafire batteries. This just looks like more counterfeit crap.

    • I think those batteries are practically always labelled an unrealistic mAh rating regardless of where you buy them from. The ones that are honest are the ones with the smaller number lol.

    • Hi, PM me with your order number and we can refund you. :)

      • PM'd.

        • And refund received - I do appreciate the follow-up service, rep, thanks :-)

    • I got stung by this one too. 3500mAh? More like 400mAh. Good for nothing but the bin.

    • Good find on that 'Task Force' set!!
In keeping with the things I said above about generics, that set is clearly off the same production line as ibfragalot's first 'Stanley' link. Identical - and half the price of this Tmart deal!
