Hi guys,

First up, the website I am linking to here is mine, I won't be hiding that =)

I used to run a business selling belt buckles. I've had these buckles in my garage for too long now. So I've decided it's time to clear them out. I'm firstly opening this up to OzBargain members at a great price, without exorbitent postage charges. Ideally I am also looking for a business who would like to pick up my entire stock. I'm prepared to sell below cost. That doesn't change the fact that individually these are a bargain, so I hope Scotty doesn't mind.

Anyway, enough of that. The items for sale are customisable belt buckles. They're basically a metal frame, and metal letters. You can arrange the letters however you like to make words to display in your buckle.

They're pretty cool. I've been wearing one that says 'BELT' for over a year now, and it's been a good coversation starter =)

Anyway, I think things are fairly well explained by checking out the pictures on the site, and by reading the FAQ section, but I'll be here to answer any questions you may have.

  By the way guys, if anyone has any feedback, it would be appreciated.

  I know the website isn't great, I knocked it up just for this. I don't want to spend 50 hours on it for what is essentially a clearance sale =)

  I hope the payment process actually works too, it's been a while since I've had an active website.

  Originally I had put the address in, but I wanted to show an image not a screendump of the website. So I did what OzBargain suggested and uploaded it at mediafire, it then changed the link for me to my image, which is obviously of no use to people wanting to get to the actual site. Now it won't let me change it back, citing some rule which doesn't make sense =)

  Anyway, thanks for pointing that out. I wonder what the previous 50 clickthroughs were thinking? =)

  Is this a lie? Or did you really just supply a bulk number of belt buckles to a white supremecist group?

  But for the record, yes, it's completely true. They gave me 2 boxes of f's and no k's =(

  Thanks to those who have placed orders, they will be shipped by tomorrow and you should have them early next week.

  It's a shame there have been more orders than + votes. I would have been nice to make the front page.

  This definitely looks like a cool product, but being the naturally-suspicious type, I'm gonna hold off on buying anything until someone has some feedback..XD Shall take the time to see if I can find a buckle-less belt, as well.

  I'm not sure what I can do off the top of my head to prove the legitimacy of the website and my business.

  …Just did a quick search and found a method for verify email addresses through paypal.

  Firstly you need to be logged in to paypal for this link to work. Then simply click the link (or copy and paste it if you are particularly paranoid =P ) to see the resulting page.

  https://www.paypal.com/us/verified/[email protected]

  Basically it confirms that the email address above, as used when making payments through the website, is an email address attached to a verified account. This means the account has a verified bank account attached to it, which of course they can track me down by. You will also see the name of the account is BuckledUp which was my former belt buckle business.

  I hope that helps somewhat at least!

  Otherwise, as I said above, all those who have ordered will have their orders shipped tomorrow, and they should have them on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest. I'm sure they wil post back here to verify the arrival of the goods =)

  sounds really awesome, and i have been lookng around for a while for a customizeable belt buckle — just out of interest however, what is the max characters that will fit on one buckle?

  Also - how did you let them get away with not sending you the K's?

  Hi Simber,

  Thanks for the questions.

  If you read the FAQ section on the website you will see a whole page of gibberish I wrote addressing a few of the main aspects of the buckles, such as how many characters will fit. In general, you can fit 3 or 4 characters on the smaller buckle (as in the pictures on the site), but it depends on which letters you use. If you use the letter M, you may not fit 4 characters on, because the letter M is a lot wider that other characters like I and J.

  The larger size buckle can fit up to 6 or 7, generally 6, but you can fit 7 if you've used some skinny characters, as above.

  And regarding the missing k's. Unfortunately we simply didn't notice to start with. Our business dealt mostly in LED Buckles (that you can program scrolling messages into). We ordered these in as a complimentary product, but then life started getting busy and we didn't get around to selling them. They just sat there in lots of boxes. Given there are almost 40 different boxes with different characters, I didn't realise there was no k until I finally got around to selling one. By then it seemed like all too much effort to harass the manufacturer about it.

  Realistically if I wanted to track down the letter K from the manufacturer I am sure I could, but as it is, I just want to get rid of all these, and I think the missing k is an interesting marketing point, to some extent. Remains to be seen… =)
