FREE 50GB Online Cloud Storage from Box.com for LG Android Devices (Works with Nexus 4)

220

Works for all LG Android Devices

If you have an existing account, log in from your LG Device and the 50GB upgrade is automatic

Also works for new users

The offer is valid from through 9/30/14.

Any new Box user will receive a free 50GB account when they download and log into Box for Android on any LG Android device. Existing Box users will receive the upgrade when they log into Box for Android on their device.

The offer is valid from through 9/30/14.

What devices qualify for the 50GB upgrade?

All LG Android devices worldwide, including phones and tablets. Sample devices include: LG DoublePlay C729, LG Esteem MS910, LG Optimus and LG G-Slate.

How do I get my 50GB?

If you’re brand new to Box, you’ll need to download the app from your Android device. Open the app once the download is complete, and sign up for a free Box account. After the sign up is complete, log into your account from the device. Your upgrade should be complete and you’ll see a confirmation message.
If you already have an older version of the Box app on your Android device, you just need to sign into your account on your device and the upgrade should be complete. Note that this promotion is only for free Box Personal accounts; if you are a Business, Enterprise or paid Personal customer you do not qualify for this promotion.

So how long will I get the 50GB? Will my account ever be downgraded to 5GB?

Once you get your 50GB Box account, you’ll never be downgraded. The limited part of this promotion is that you only have until December 31, 2012 to get the upgrade; once you have it, the space is yours for the life of the account.

Should I deactivate my Box account and activate a new one to get the 50GB?

No, you don’t need to deactivate and activate a new account. Just log into your account from the device.
What if I already deactivated my account?

If you have deactivated your account, it will need to be turned on again by our support team. Contact support at support.box.com.

What should I do if I accidentally registered with the wrong email address?

If you accidentally signed up with a ‘bad’ email address – one you don’t have access to – you’ll have to sign up for a new account using the correct address.
If you used an email address that you have access to, but would prefer a different address, you can make the switch easily in your account settings on the Box site.

What if I already have a paid Box Personal account? Can I get the 50GB upgrade?

If you already have a paid Box Personal account, you can choose to downgrade your account in order to get the 50GB of storage. Please note that you will lose some of the added features from the paid account, including a 1GB upload limit, folder downloads, password-protected links, version history, etc. In order to downgrade to the free account, please contact support at 1-877-729-4269.

    I wonder if it's possible to 'spoof' your phone brand and model by changing the build.prop values so that you can trick the app into thinking you have a LG Nexus 4?

    Anyone here with a rooted device willing to try this out using a build.prop editor?

    The lines you'd have to change are as follows (disclaimer — backup build.prop first before making these changes)

    ro.product.brand=google
    ro.product.name=occam
    ro.product.device=mako
    ro.product.board=MAKO
    ro.product.manufacturer=LGE
    ro.product.model=Nexus 4
    ro.build.fingerprint=google/occam/mako:4.2/JOP40C/527662:user/release-keys

    • I did this a year ago with my Galaxy S2. Worth a shot; can't see why it wouldn't work again this time around.

    • I'm sure its possible. I accidently scored 50GB from Dropbox ages ago for the Galaxy Note 2 (or S2, whichever promo it was) by flashing my Galaxy Note 1 (not included in the deal) to a newer custom rom which had integrated parts of those newer models into it. It seemed to fool Dropbox. I wasn't even trying to achieve that, just an added bonus.

      So I'd say yes it is possible.

      EDIT: If you figure it out, remember your fellow OzBargainers ;)

      Thanks! Worked for me on my Samsung Galaxy Ace.

      Used Root Explorer to modify the following lines in my build.prop:

      ro.product.model=Nexus 4
      ro.product.brand=google
      ro.product.name=occam
      ro.product.device=mako
      ro.product.board=MAKO
      ro.build.product=mako
      ro.product.manufacturer=LGE
      ro.build.description=occam-user 4.2 JOP40C 527662 release-keys
      ro.build.fingerprint=google/occam/mako:4.2/JOP40C/527662:user/release-keys

      Then I went to 'Manage Applications' and cleared data from Google Play Store, Google Play services and Google Services Framework.
      After that I rebooted to CWM Recovery and wiped the cache and dalvik cache.

      Rebooted, installed the app and got my 50GB!
      Thanks again.

      • This worked for me, thanks for the idea. Now waiting on a Linux client :)

    • doesn't the post say it works with all andiord devices why do you need NEXUS 4?

  • 50 gb is huge compare with dropbox

    • Dropbox is a lot more popular though, so when it comes to sharing files with team mates (or getting them to share with you) most likely it'll be Dropbox…or Google Drive.

    I got 50gb with my HP Touchpad back in the day. It's great, it's a lot of storage. But the features/integration with other apps from Box isn't as mature as with Dropbox.

    • Box is progressing along, it's my favourite. Give it time it'll get better.

  • confirmed on Note 2, i have 50GB too.
