Anyone know when OS10 is coming to Playbook?

  • anyone interested at $99 or have cheap 7" 1,280 x 800 androids killed this dead?

    • I'd have a 64GB unit or 2 at $99, ie, if it included S+H.

Non-Android (before mod), but nice box to put KhanAcademy tutorial videos into.

For any audio application, the 64 GB model (and - likely - the 16 GB model, too) has 2 front-facing speaker slots - like Samsung Note 10.1 - for better stereo effect.

(Lack of dual, front speaker[-slot]s reduces an otherwise superior ASUS Nexus 7 …IMO.)

Financially these may be good deals, but they're "dangerous territory" in which to dabble if support and software updates are desired.

Anyone know when OS10 is coming to Playbook?

    ETA: never

    • oh.. :c well that's sad..

      • -2

        Yep. It's the TouchPad's brother.

        • +2

          Except webOS is awesome.

If OS 10 -were- coming to old PlayBooks, MLN wouldn't need to accept just $99 for the 16 GB version.

OTOH, a PlayBook's quality beats the rest of the $99 tab devices… IMO.

Maybe the physical quality, but the quality of the apps is up to sh*t.

I bought the 75 buck refurbished one from dealsdirect. The hardware is nice, but there are next to no good free apps, most everything is paid, and who wants yo invest money in a system with little to no future.

I haven't rooted and installed Play yet, but if anyone has I would be interested to know if its worth it. I have had mine for a few days and browser and a couple of other apps like kobo, acrobat reade, zinio etc are good, but no Skype, kindle, Google maps, navigation, the list goes on

The Touchpad has a better app catologue and that was dumped before it made the shelves here. Seriously shows how hopeless RIM are at getting stuff right, they didn't even have an email client when it was released!

I still believe that had the Touchpad would have been relatively sucessfukt had HP kept it going or had it been sold early to Simone who cared

My friend's house got raided by thieves, the blackberry on top of the table was untouched! I am kind of getting the reason why?

    • Haha classic

    • Because they didn't want to eat blackberry.

    • +1

they may have just been smart enough to know not to risk any sort of gps tracking

      They prefer Apples

  • Make that $99 for the 64gb version I'll get this as a media consumption device.

This should be good enough for videos, web surfing and really really really really light gaming.

My friend had one of these, superb build quality, feels really good in the hands too but at $200 for the 64gb, not nearly tempted to get one of these for fun.

    • Me too, if they include S+P in that $99 price.

  • So, how ar BlackBerry (the company) doing these says…?

    And… How do you know?

  • 64gb for 99 dollars?That would be awesome…..

  • +2

$1,54 per GB! + officeworks price match anyone -5% = $1.47 per GB then add 5% off with your 5% pay waive!!

  • Tempting but I really don't know if the playbook is any use. It can't even run Skype.

  • I'd buy one if i could put Android on it.

Make use of The Good Guys 30 Day Price Guarantee

They refund 120% of the difference if you show them the advertisement and your receipt within 30 days.

    So:
    * 16GB = $224 - 1.2 x ($224 - $99.95) = $75.14
    * 64GB = $689 - 1.2 x ($689 - $198.95) = $100.94

    EDIT: Hmm…:

Evidence of an authentic advertised price in a daily newspaper or catalogue, commercial radio or television.
