  • Can't you buy 50 of them for about $3 at the supermarkets?

    • Um, no? Citation?

    • No, you can't.

I HATE these things. There's no finer way to confirm to a customer that you don't care about them OR the environment than to dole out pre-packaged parcels of flimsy crap that will probably end up in landfill unopened. ugh!

So your issue with the items could be fixed by:

      • You refuse the knife and fork.

      • The establishment asking 'would you like a knife and fork?' and having a sign with a picture of knife and fork saying 'Please recycle'.

The alternative would be not provide eating utensils and have people avoid them because 'those are the guys that make you eat with your hands'.

So instead of hating the product which has a purpose, take your own knife and fork to the place and refuse their's or request that they put out a recycling bin.

  • A packet of plastic knives and forks for $65. Great bargain rep, can't wait for your next offer.

  • This is ridiculously expensive. The $2 shops have packs of forks, knives & napkins for a gold coin or two. You are paying $50 for the benefit of having them together in a pack. A quick google & I found these for an example (and a more expensive example of what can be had at $2 stores) http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com.au/viewitem?sbk=1&nav=SEARCH&…

There are 500 in the box. ;-)
Having wrapped serviettes around knives and forks before as part of a job in a cafe, I can assure you it takes quite a while to do 500.

      • And the example you linked was $4.50 for 100 forks.
This deal is 500 forks, 500 knives and 500 serviettes. So with your link it is $45 for just the knives and forks plus shipping. A lot of businesses would say the extra $20 to have them individually packaged and shipped to the door would be well worth it.
Note I am not pos/neg the deal. I don't know whether it is a good deal for prepacked cutlery. But saying loose cutlery is the same product is like saying a kitchen tap is the same as a case of bottled water. They sometimes can provide the same outcome, but sometimes they can't.

so why don't you guys give it a + vote if it is a good deal

      • Yes, yes there are. What I was getting at is that you could take your $64.89, go to a $2 shop, buy 500 forks, knives, napkins & even plastic bags if you so wish & still have $50+ left over. Then while you are watching your daily soap shows, you can fold them all up neatly & doom the environment all at the same time!
