  • What's the regular price on these things?

    • Normally $599, according to Google's cached copy of Bing Lee / current prices on various websites. (penta.com.au, pcntech.com.au)

  • There is no way, that TV is worth $499. Way over priced. I thought there was an error with the contrast you originally put down (100,000:1) which would be amazing if it was the static contrast but its the dynamic!!… which just sucks. I think the $349 deal that JB had for their 42" or 47" last week (can't remember which one) is better than this deal. 1 W consumption when its in standby and 'TBC' will usually mean its about a 2 or 3 star rating for energy consumption. So you're paying a fair amount upfront and will continue to pay a fair amount for it.

Benefits: it does have USB Recording. Good for a hotel or motel or a 'visitor room'.

Has anyone got one of these and wants to add feedback?

    • One of the women I work with was looking for a new TV and I put her onto the previous deal. This is her feedback…
Nothing wrong with it. No issues to date. It serves its purpose.
She hasn't hooked it up to the internet to make use of the smart tv options. So for those without audio visual hang ups, it's probably a decent buy for the money. Especially with its 3 year warranty.

  • Didn't they have a 50" for this price a few months ago?

    • Yep, and it was a smart tv too…..

    Yes
I bought my LG 47" FHD 3D LED smart TV for $698 from HN last year.
    That was a steal.

    • I still kick myself not to grab one of those LG TV :(

I have called HN, TGG, RT Edwards - only Good Guys got few in stock
But they won't sell for that magic price :(

I didn't see the warranty period on the bing lee site so I looked it up. It's the only thing I really like about this brand - should be the same on all cheap TV's.

What does TBC mean? Too Bad (to even) Contemplate?

    • My guesses: to be confirmed, to be calculated.

      Terrible, But Cheap

How can an electrical product make it all the way to a retailer without being tested for power consumption? Boggles the mind. More plausible theory us that it has been tested and it is awful.

    • How can it make it all the way - with that name? Only just better than Ching Chong. Well, at least it's not Lucky Goldstar

      • Changhong became a major sponsor one of the NRL teams earlier this year. And they're one of the biggest TV manufacturers in the world. No harm in more supply out there.

not the power comsumption as such, but the kWh/annum could be compared across brands.

  • Oww wow, what a bargain!!! $499 for a ChingChong FHD LCD TV… i mean ChangHong :P

  • This brand isn't bad. I just bought a 24" FHD LED to use as a monitor/TV and it has NO dead pixels. The service department in Melbourne is quite patient with questions too.

  • I bought the previous deal a few months ago ($500 - 50 inch smart tv). I have to say its worth it. The only two problems were uneven black during start-up when its showing the Changhong logo and the 50hz refresh rate. Energy usage wise the TV came with 7 stars. Changhong is one of the biggest consumer electronic company in china and I think they are so cheap because the are trying to enter the Australian market.
