Re-Useable Plastic Bags Prospect Officeworks (SA) $0.02

490

Beat SA's plastic bag ban with some 2 cent re-useable bags from Officeworks. Also makes for cheap rubbish bags, although you probably shouldn't reuse them in that case.

Marked as 'clearance', unsure of the original price but the bag says "5c from every bag sold will be donated" so I'm assuming it's usually well over 5c.

Picked up 3 bags for 6c, rounded down to 5c, savings galore.

Spotted at OW Prospect SA, unsure of other stores.

If you buy 1, do they round down?

    • +2

      Shouldn't they have to, legally?

I "bought" a galaxy note flip cover from DSE that was marked as 1c. The guy let me just take it for free.

          should've got a spare then?

    • I think you've hit on the perfect scam. Just keep lapping the checkouts getting free bags.

OMG, an actual OW deal with 'stock' for sale!!!

  • Whatever you do SA do not ban plastic bottles; 10c bottle deposit refunds are keeping you recession-proof.

    • They are also keeping the cost of soft drinks high to pay for the refund.

      • Bottles aren't made out of recycled bottles.

        • depends if you are talking plastic bottles, glass bottles or other containers (aluminium cans).

        • A fair point - rule of thumb though - if what you are using is recycled, you PROBABLY can't recycle it again - it loses form and a load of scientific bollocks I won't go into.

      • The cost is only higher if you don't return the bottle/tin. I would have expected an OzBargainer to return the container to exchange for five OfficeWorks plastic bags.

Anyway, 10c on the price of a single bottle of water or soft drink is almost insignificant when they are usually over $2.

    • eh? the 10c doesn't go to the government.

Can you buy one, then ask for a bag to put it in?

    • +1

plastic bags are not free at ow. therefore you'll be buying 2 which rounds up to 5c

Ask them to fill it with air for you, precious precious air

ps. on a side not this is my local OW and they are always out of stock on bargains posted on here and just my luck im out of town :(

    • Don't worry you didn't miss much lol.

      • What are you going to do with that bag of air MacGyver?

        • Build a hot air balloon of course but if he has time a nuclear reactor.

  • maybe there is some money to be made in shipping tonnes of used plastic bags from woolies and selling on the black market there?

Can price match with VIC OfficeWorks?

  • is this some sort of cavassing from the greens before election? lol.

    • But they aren't canvass they're plastic.

What's their refund policies on bags?

    • +1

As long as they are in their original packaging

      • they should charge a 10c deposit on them.
