Acer is going to release a refresh of this tablet to address complaints about it's poor display, so for those not in a hurry can probably wait: http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/17/4530994/acer-iconia-w3-suc…

    • The all-important part of a tablet is its display. It's the sole interaction point for this type of device. Simply put, the W3's display is disgusting. It's shockingly bad in a number of ways. When I first tried the W3 I assumed it had finger grease on the display, but a quick clean confirmed that the screen is just so grainy that it looks like someone dropped it in a swimming pool. Using this device transports you back to a world where manufacturers struggled to build displays properly. It feels like a resistive device from 10 years ago.

..ouch. Not going to neg but that's pretty damning

ASUS ME400C 64GB with Windows 8 installed only gives you around 27GB free space.
This device only have 32GB. I wonder how much free space this device has with both Windows 8 and Office installed…

Yes, I agree the size (of the unit) is awesome. But the size of storage is not awesome at all.

    • perhaps using usb or sd cards might help ;)

  • Is this the same as W8?

    • this one is the newest 8" model, which is better than the W8 for portability and the price is more decent too

Apparently, only 7-8GB of storage is available.

    • Yes, that's always what microsoft does.
Win7 seems slim after you install it to your hard driver (10GB ~ 15GB), but after some update it is more bigger and bigger. I think there must be bugs in the file system or software registration mechanism of Windows….
That's why I like linux or unix(mac) more.

  • I really want one of these (or moreso just a 8" Win 8 tablet) but think I'll hold out for the refresh (or other manufacturers to release 8" versions….). Ideally a Surface 2, 8" full Win 8 tablet would be nice! :) Storage isn't too much of a concern for me….

    • Just be patient, I think Acer will come out with an upgraded W3 within the next few months if rumour are to be believed.

      • and few months after then will have newer model ^_^,so,just buy it if you want to use it,technology never waits us ;)

  • I don't get why anyone would want an 8" W8 tablet? I have a W510 and I have think its brilliant as it provides both tablet and notebook functionality, but without a keyboard and with a screen that would be way too had to use with desktop apps, and with the touch apps being far inferior to ios and android, what's the benefit?
