Rechargeable 500,000 Candle Power Spotlight (Performer Brand) $3.50 at Kmart Erina NSW

340

Went into Kmart today at Erina NSW and they have this spotlight reduced down to $3.50. An absolute bargain for a rechargeable flashlight. They also had one on display and it was pretty bright when I teated it.

8 LED + 1 halogen lamp.
12v cigarette charger as well as ac charger included.
Cordless and rechargeable.
12 month warranty.

Not sure if all around Australia but worth a try. Can't go wrong at $3.50 and if it sucks just return it.

  • OP, you have put an extra "zero" on your title! LOL

    • Haha thanks. Am on my phone. Hard to post from.

    you use canvas drop sheets as bed sheets?

    Did it latched on when you "teated" it? Lol

    Rule of thumb: if a lamp quotes candlepower instead of lumens, it is junk.

  • -1

    i thought candle power and lumens were the same

    • +3

      Candlepower and lumens are different and not in the way that kilowatts and horsepower are as there is no metric to imperial conversion possible.

      Candlepower measures illumination in a particular direction.
      Lumens measures total illumination.

      1 candlepower is equal to 12.57 lumens but this is somewhat misleading as it would require a 1 candlepower source to shine in all directions to equal 12.57 lumens and as no light source apart from a sphere can do this you cannot compare the two especially when manufacturers are often very misleading or deceptive with their figures (both lumens and candlepower) to the point they are often useless.

      12.57 lumens is 4*pi (or 8% if you prefer 1/12.57)

        Oh please, there is a formula for everything.

        E= I/D²

        Lumens = 500000 / (5*5)
        Lumens @ 5 metres away is 20,000. In comparison direct sunlight at mid day is 80,000 - 130,000 depending on day/ time of year.

          e = what now?

          its a $3.50 spot light folks, chill out a little because your brains might explode.

        • That is so completely and utterly wrong that it is scary.

        • And what is wrong about it?
          E = Illuminance (measured in lumens)
          I = "candle power" (measured in candelas)
          D = Distance (in metres)

      • It's kind of hard to imagine a small incandescent spotlight like this can have 500kcd.
        I'm quite sure a lot of spotlight candlepower claims are bogus, either that or candle power is not equal to candela.

        500,000 candela is an insane amount of throw. I would hazard a guess and say this has closer to 60kcd.

        At $3.50 though, it is insanely cheap and a no brainer.

  • How long does the battery last and how long to recharge? Always seems to be an issue with these things.

    Two Questions;
    1) is this Australia wide?
    2) Why did you have to pay $10 for warranty? (Doesn't than mean they are $8.50 each?)

    • +2

      Two answers:
      1) Most likely

      2) I think you need to book an Eye test (ASAP)

      Eye tests are bulk billed to Medicare so there are no out of pocket expenses for you. (O)

      • +1

        Do you want the long or short answer? :D

      • Guys, pay attention to the pic with two boombs and a rocket launcher. @thearth, i need an eye test too.

      • Not sure why I interpreted "Active Short" as a type of warranty. (Eye/Brain fail)
        Should have been asleep instead of on OzB.

    • it was actually $10 for active short.

  • Is it bright? What's the original price?

  • -1

    I bought one a while ago it has two brighnesses first is a ring of leds and second is a halogen main beam. I paid $12 it was good at that price and at $3.50 buy them all and resell them.

  • Can anyone confirm that this deal is available at other Kmart stores?

  • +2

    I got one of these, false advertising, it was around 483,300 candles of light. Really disgusted.

    • +1

      ;)

      Group law suit me thinks.
      16,700 candles short on yours, 15,000 on others…. begs the question where are all these missing candles going, and to what evil purpose are they being put to?

      A senate enquiry at least.
      There's people starving out there, and I bet these missing candles have something to do with it!

      • They go to the candle rave.

    • Yeah, but how many lumens was it?

  • does syd have those ?
