  • So what comes after Lumia 920 ?
    Is it 925 or 1020 ?

    • +1

They're both successors (1020 being the most recent addition to the Lumia family), not too sure spec wise but afaik 1020 is the bigger upgrade (41mp camera, xenon flash). 925 seems to be a minor upgrade from what I can tell (similar camera with an added glass lens? also a bit lighter).

925 is more of a variant and 1020 is a separate class. It seems it goes like this, first number is the class (9 or 10), second is the generation, and third is the variant.

Edit: I expect the 920 successor would be announced within a month or two with 93x designation.

        • and with quad core and 1080p display most likely. =P

  • Hrm… if this applies to all nokia windows phones then it also puts the price of the Lumia 520 down to $135 for cyan color and $141 for black. That's even better than the $148 they were doing the other week. Awesome value for money on that phone.

    • Why are black phones always more expensive?
In my world, everything would be made in one colour only - matt black.

      • Local Perth HN does 168 for all color instore! Picked up a black one myself today

Does the cashback page work for you guys?

    • Only downloading the form is working at the moment. The reedem cashback (online) link is not working.

    • it did for me last time when i purchased an ultrabook which cashbacked 500$ to me ;)

    • keep asking "please select brand"
and only 6 digits allowed in invoice, it shows 7 in my invoice… HN= hassle normal?
will try again in the future, hope they fix it
seriously, how can they **** up thing that simple.

      • Any luck with this ? I just tried it and the same thing happened.

        • +1

Figure it out, the store option, you need to select "online", I was selecting where I was picking it up from. derr.

          cheers

      • it is a 9 digit number on your invoice from HN's email or receipt if you chose pickup.

the Lumia 920 works out 390$ after cashback is better for value simce not much upgrade from 920-925: lighter,2GB Ram instead of 1GB, 6 layers of lens instead of 5,etc. Most importantly, the 925 has no inbuilt NFC (for slimmer and lighter design), which means you have to purchase seperately for this function

    • +1

Thanks for the information. Have updated the title to include both phones.

      • you're welcome,we all love sharing bargain ;)

    • What you mean the lens is like an onion, it has 'layers'?

    • +2

I think you're getting confused - the Lumia 925 DOES have NFC built-in.

      • +3

I think it was wireless charging that was dropped in the 925 rather than NFC.

    • +4

Sorry, seems to be a little misinformation here:
      - 920/925 both have 1GB RAM, the 1020 is the only unit with 2GB
      - 920/925 both have NFC
      - 920 has wireless charging inbuilt, 925 requires an addon case for this

  • Can these be used on any of the networks with 4G/LTE?

    • +1

yes they can and the sim tray is awesome as you can even put a nano sim with adaptor, i switched in between iphone 5 and 920 without hassle at all

      • Thanks. Very tempted to get the 920

  • +1

Honestly, I'd rather wait until the next series of phones for the next WP OS iteration, but that might be a while away.

    • So these can't be upgraded to 8.1?

      • +1

All WP8 devices are getting the next OS update.
But know M$, anything can happen :P

      • some ppl assume nokia 520 can't get 8.1 upgrade due to 512mb ram.

        • I don't think there will be any issue with 8.1, maybe not good for WP9.

      • They can be upgraded, it's just that usually with all new OS iterations comes new features that only new phones can use. Just like how each time a new iPhone is released they all have something better than the predecessor which can't be updated, such as Siri.

    • WP8 users here. I was all exited about the windows phone 8 and bought 820 in the very week of the release. Absence of notification center and other basic features have no started to irritate me. Maybe the next major update(not amber) would have something in store for us.

  • spewing, looked at the other discounts, picked up a Vac on Saturday, could have saved an extra $40 if I'd waited .. ih well!

  • Thanks, Lumia 720 comes to $277.60 after cashback, slightly better than buying grey import

  • any deal for the 820

    • If it isn't a carrier phone there is cashback. Just look at the phone page.

  • Is it worthwhile making a separate listing for the other cashbacks….on tvs, white goods etc? Good deal IMO since it doesn't have to be ticketed price - you can price match and still get the cashbacks.

    • Wait people price match price backs? As in I could go to JB or somewhere and be like "Harvey Norman is doing cashback which takes this to Y from X".

      • No it'd be the other way around, store x has it for $, so you get harvey norman to price match then claim cash back

        • Which store has a better price for 520 then? Would love to price match it and then get another 20% back~

        • -1

http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/nokia-lumia-520-8gb-blue/ kogan has it on special, but I doubt you can price match them?

        • It's $149 + delivery. Even if it could be price matched the price difference won't be too much.

        • +1

Is this cashback for HN only? If so, how do you price match in another retailer and get cashback 20% from HN?

        • Well they could price match cash backs cause its a Harvey Norman thing?

        • +1

All I was saying was you could look online or at other retailers and Harvey Norman should price match that offer PLUS give you the cash back. The cash back is via redemption and is a prepaid eftpos card.

  • Wow tempting!
    also, FYI, 920 has a IPS LCD 332ppi, 1020 and 925 has AMOLED 334ppi.

  • +1

Price on the Cyan 520 was too good to refuse (I passed on the last deal). $135 is a relatively cheap way of getting to try out WP8 and my Optus mytab is getting somewhat slow anyway. If anything, I've been looking for a mobile wifi hotspot to use my Amaysim account on so think I'll use this with that at first. If I like it, I may use my main mobile - a Virgin mobile account - on the Lumia 520.

I still like my Nokia E63 as my main phone too much though to let it go.

  • +2

It was only 10 days ago HN had the Nokia 920 at $398. A good idea would be to purchase this on a credit card that has a price protection policy and claim back any difference in price if it happens to fall again, which you would expect, as HN are obviously clearing these out.

  • Hi guys just wondering if any one has any insight as to whether 520 would be suitable for emulated games eg snes/gba? Already have a work sim provided but no internet access so just looking for something to kill time with instead of the brick they gave me. thanks

  • +3

Harvey Norman's livechat popups now start with 'hi ozbargainer' if you click through from ozbargain. I feel like Gerry's watching us…

  • How does the Eftpos cash back work? Is it some kind of gift card you can only use at HM?

    • T&Cs page friend:

"An eftpos card is a single use gift card which can be used for purchases anywhere eftpos is accepted, at the merchant’s discretion. Cards cannot be used to withdraw cash. "

  • Has anyone got the cashback yet? I'm still to receive mine.

    • I received mine in the mail yesterday. (Bought the 925)
