  • Compatible with Dolce Gusto capsules. Trying to find some comparisons online and it suggests that there are milk powder capsules for the Gusto machines so you can add an espresso pod and milk pod to create a cappuccino.

There are a few 3rd party manufacturers of Nespresso compatible pods and presumably a few for Gusto too.

I'm using the Dolce Gusto Genio at home but I haven't found any compatible pods yet. I buy the genuine pods from Iga($6.39-6.59) instead of Coles/Woolworths ($7.99)

      • Which IGA do you go to get it at that price? Pretty sure my IGA still sellsat $7.99 and is never on sale!

        • Ritchies Iga Taren Point NSW, they are not on sale, $6.59 is their normal price at least for the last 3-4 months

        • And Coles has them on special for $6.40(save 1.60)

These machines only use the Dolce Gusto capsules - and still no compatible pods.

Full range of pods here: https://www.dolce-gusto.com.au/EN/shop/Flavours/Pages/Flavou…
Some are online only and not available in stores.

  • Could this be price matched anywhere?

Coles sales in my area = bare shelves. Starting to feel like bait and switch.

I've got the Nespresso machine and the Dolce Gusto Circulo

Trust me, the Nespresso capsules are way better

If you plan drinking Dolce Gusto capsules, NEVER EVER use the milk capsules - tastes like crap

If you use normal milk (and microwave) then the DOlce Gusto is actually ok

    • I partially disagree…IMHO the Dolce Gusto cappuccino and the hot chocolate(they both use one pod of milk) taste good enough. I always make them for visitors and I've only got only positive feedback. Of course the frothed milk from my breville steam milk frother tastes better, and better than microwaved milk. Also, if you buy the dolce gusto and you don't use the milk pods it means that you should have bought a Nespresso(or nespresso compatible) coffee maker.IMHO the selling point of the dolce gusto series is that you don't have to buy milk and clean frothers. I agree with you that nespresso plain coffee is better than the dolce gusto one, but with the same logic a good Lavazza/Illy ground coffee with a "normal" coffee maker tastes much better than the nespresso pods

I always make them for visitors

I take out the International Roast for visitors.

        • +1

          Better idea…re-use the pods ;)

        • +4

When having visitors over I fill used pods with a mixture of one quarter International Roast and three quarters dirt from my back yard. Never had any complaints. Probably best not to say what I use as milk.

        • +1

Ahh International Roast. The choice coffee I see whenever I've been to my mechanic. In fact, all bloody mechanics seem to have it!

        • +1

The drink of choice for teacher's staffrooms up and down the country!

        • +2

You guys have visitors? Not having friends will save you a lot of coffee. This would be the cheapest option.

        • Was it bought during this bargain? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96376
          LOL……

        • There's nothing wrong with the old International Roast… far better than what they had in brew-urns at Kapooka in the early 1980s (WWI trench dirt and condensed milk, it tasted like).

Folks care too much about what stuff tastes like (above some mandatory minimum): AFAIAC wine is for taking the edge off, not for some big-nosed twat to do ads for Coles… coffee is to put the edge back on - Yippie kai-ay!

      • Why on earth would you buy one of these pieces of junk if you already had a nespresso? And if you bought this one first, why is it not now in the bin?

  • +1

Slightly off topic, but speaking of refillable capsules, the local "Cheap as Chips" has packs of three plastic (with stainless mesh) "universal" refillable pods for $5.
Still waiting for a good deal to take the plunge on a MAP etc machine, so don't know if they work well, badly, or not at all!

    • Good info. Be interested to hear if anyone has tried the refillable ones also.
I have the Nespresso but barely use it; to get it strong how I like it I use 3 capsules, and can't justify the expense over plunger coffee.

  • Do these even taste any good? Say compared to the insta coffee/mocha sachets by Nescafe?

    • +1

Yes I reckon they taste alright, and are also pretty convenient if the machine is already warmed up ready to go. Not as good as plunger coffee for mine, but not as much of a hassle, either, when you're short of time.

    • much better as this is not instant coffee. only the hot chocolate is instant(and the milk powder of course)

  • +1

I can guarantee you these will sell out very quick on the first day, and won't be restocked. Coles electrical sales only have a small number of units allocated to each store for the whole week.

So if you want this, you better be there first thing on Wednesday morning.

    • looks like you were wrong, champ!

  • -2

They'll make their money back on the capsules that are over priced, no deal!

    • +1

      Spoke like a true eXtremist!

yep, people vote down the truth because they can't handle the truth

        • DID YOU ORDER THE CODE RED?!?!?

  • thanks, jjust picked one up works and tastes great much better then aldi expressi imo

    • Sale doesnt start till tomorrow, so you paid full price?

      • +2

sale started at 12am and i picked one up at 12.30am so i paid the sale price

Few units near the checkout at Melbourne Central at 6.40am. I didn't buy one in the end cause it looked ugly and its all manual.

  • There are half a dozen or so machines at the underground Coles at LaTrine St end of Spencer St station (I don't say "Southern Cross", just as I don't say "Western Bulldogs"). You all know the one - near where they're building the Vic pigs' new Super-Sty ("Police Plaza", to go with their nifty new Gestapo-style uniforms so they can pretend they're soldiers).

Also - the pods are on spesh there too. Also, the packaging contains 9 pods already (3 'Americano', 3 'Cappucino' and 3 Hot Chocolate).

And paying with my ING card, got another 5% off: if I had bought 2 I would've saved enough for a pie. If I'd bought ten, a pie at Etihad.

  • I got one this morning, got the Redish colour one :)

  • -3

Ugh. These machines/capsules are rubbish compared to the nespresso ones. Might as well just drink instant coffee and save yourself having another appliance taking up room on your kitchen bench.

  • Got one from Payneham, SA. They had 10+ units 1 hour ago.

    Thanks OP.

  • sold out at burwood VIC

    • Quite a few at Knox if you're still looking.

  • No stock @coles Earlwood NSW but you can find the pods on sale for $6.40(save $1.60)

    • Update, same store has a dozen of them in stock

  • Just picked up one from Knox for my dad for father’s day.
There was a stall out the front allowing taste testing, cappuccino tasted too sweet but one of the others tasted quite good. Not too sure about the powdered milk idea but the lady said you can just add cold milk. That’s what we do with our Nespresso so hope this one is ok for Dad.

  • I noticed Woolworth is offering also coffee machine for $50 ( save $50 ). Anyone knows which one is better ( cheaper to run, easy to buy cartridges etc ) ?

  • Hmm, I bought this today as an impulse buy. But I'm reading this now and the reviews aren't great. I was actually told it was compatible with the nespresso pods so I could take it back. I've yet to unbox it.

I could get the woolworths one instead but it looks like that one is restricted to it's own pods to and much bigger to boot.
