Learnable.com - 10000 Free Subscriptions to Anyone with .EDU Email Address (Save $180 X 3 Years)

160

Got an email from dad yesterday with a link to an article about this, thought there might be others out there that are interested. I signed up using the Mrs' Griffith Edu address, and it worked fine. If using a non Edu address it asks for proof of studenthood.

As far as I can see it is a yearly subscription, it stated 3 years free in the article, so I assume it will just roll over for 3 years.

  • Sorry how can we get free edu email address from Griffith edu mentioned above? Thanks

    • +2

Griffith is a university so you have to be a student.

    • Yea, sorry, never mentioned getting it for free, I just used it because my mrs is studying there.

  • Thanks for reply. Hmmm how can i get free edu.au email… Contact students friend then hehhe

  • Joined up. Content looks okay, but it doesn't look like everything is free.

    Your Membership plan is: Annual
    2 Downloads / Month - free

So it looks like you can read the online content ( courses, books, etc ) but downloading courses, books, etc, require payment. Downloads require "credits" and you are only given 2 credits with your free membership. Credits must be purchased. Not sure if this is a limit of these free accounts, or if that is ( likely ) their business model for all accounts.

bottom line: if you want to learn html / css / javascript / jquery / etc, and are happy to do so online, it looks like a good resource. But if you want to download and learn offline, it's going to cost you.

  • As far as I can see it is a yearly subscription, it stated 3 years free in the article, so I assume it will just roll over for 3 years.

They assume you will have graduated in 3 years, so I think the free membership plan will expire after that.

    • More than likely right, won't be able to report back to this thread in 3 years though!
