  • When i look at the prices they offer they still are more expensive then many other shops even after the 21.- off

    • Just took a look at their Nikon 35mm F1.8G and it's $295 when it can be found at other retailers for $230-240! Add the discounted gift-vouchers and it just matches the cheaper price.

      • I have purchased a lot there in the past and sent several people there. Recently I needed a high end Panasonic point and shoot as a gift and even TEDs had a cheaper price. The staff are extremely helpful and I will shop there as preference but not with their rock star like pricing.

  • +1

I'm fearful of gift-cards ever since Borders went under.. and prior to going under (the stores) they made you spend an equal amount of cash to the amount of your gift card in order to use them. They then imposed a use-by date on all gift-cards. Here's a refresher: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/03/all-borders-gift-cards-now…

  • A couple of quick points for those looking for exploits:

    • Only two $100 gift cards can be purchased by one person
    • Only four gift cards can be used when purchasing an item (at their discretion for more)
    • Gift cards cannot be used to buy gift cards

There prices are pretty horrid at the moment, but with no expiry you can hold on to them until the prices drop.

    • I'm Confused..

So does that mean you need 2 people to buy 4 gift cards.

Then you can use those 4 onto one order?

      But then it says:

"One coupon code can be used per order."

    • "A maximum of 4 discounted gift cards can be used on any one order."

There's no mention of a specific combination of gift cards is required.

So, the max discount would be $84 ($21 * 4)?

      • Good point, it says limit of 2 of each gift card per customer.
But you could potentially get 4 x $100 gift cards with two accounts and use all four for one purchase.

  • The new sigma lenses aren't too badly priced:

    http://www.camerasdirect.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=sigm…

    Sigma 35mm 1.4 $765
    Sigma 18-35 1.8 $694

After a $42 discount it makes it quite nicely priced, with aus stock & warranty

Yeah, Camera's Direct has some good prices on Sigma lenses. The 150-500 was almost $800 a few months back which is down to grey import prices. With two $100 gift cards at $79, that would have been ~$760. Cheaper than grey at that point and with AU warranty.

Might give this a miss though. Spent a bit lately: Got a Pentax K30 for Dad for Father's Day (gave it to him last night). Rather than make it daunting by overloading him with info on shutter speeds and f-stops, I decided to let the scene function get him using it and then I'll start getting him into things such as Av mode. We do have a long flight to China next year together.

      • OK, I take it back. Ended up getting 2x Black Rapid classic straps at $89 total by getting 1x $100 gift card. Should hopefully help dad deal with the weight of a DSLR and the classic can be placed on either shoulder to help even the weight out over the day.

    • I was looking at the Sigma 18-35 too.
Don't forget you can get two of the $50 vouchers for $45 and use that on the order too.
So a $52 discount in total (unless I've read the terms and conditions incorrectly).

  • These guys used to have great prices, but since the AU dollar has been terrible lately, their prices have gone up. Hopefully things will turn around in the next 6-8 months.

  • Where is the link to the $50 gift card for $45?

Edit: Nevermind, found it by searching the site: http://www.camerasdirect.com.au/50-for-45-camerasdirect-gift…
