Good price. But Han shot first.

    • +4

Technically he was the only one to shoot.

      • That's what I try to tell people!

  • +11

    Errrm… so is this version:

    • the early movie released version of Episodes 1-6
    • the special digital versions of Episodes 4-6 with the movie version of Episodes 1-3
    • the digitally enhanced versions of Episodes 1-6
    • the digital version where the music's left and right channels being swapped in the rear channels
    • the version based on the 2004 DVD release with lightsaber discoloration
    • the re-released digital enhanced versions from the 2011 release of Star Wars

    Confusing? You betcha!!!

I hear there's a version of Star Wars without Jar Jar Binks in it. I think I would pay top dollar for that! :D

    • I'm pretty sure it's the digitally enhanced versions

      • I'm pretty sure I paid less than $80 when they were released.

        • +10

Well go back to 2011 and buy a few more copies to sell then :P

        • +7

          It's Star Wars, not BTTF!

        • +2

Wait 2 years, then you can meet the Doc in 2015.

    • +2

      haha classic!
Actually i hear its the "soon to be replaced by the digitally re-re-mastered 4K edition of episodes 1-6"

      • +1

        Don't forget the 3D versions.

    • I thought only one version was on Blu ray?

    • +2

You're referring to The Phantom Edit:

      Jubba the Hat?

      • cousin of Jabba, hater of Jedi

    • +1

      Heresy!

  • +7

Seems like a lot of money for only 3 edited movies.
Disney own it now, wait 2 years people, you'll finally see the original film restored properly on blu ray.

Also google "harmy edit star wars" - steer clear of this.

    • so the harmy version is that bad?

      • +3

No, the Harmy version is that good.

    • Seconded. Don't waste your money on the Blus. They're just George Lucas' bastardised versions of Star Wars (even Eps I and II have been chopped and changed, not that anyone cares). Harmy's Despecialised editions are the ones to look for.

    • this box set has 6 movies

      • +13

How? There were only 3 Star Wars films made.

        • -7

          haha wtf? your joking right?

        • +5

6 movies, only 3 of them are worthy of the name "Star Wars".

        • +3

In my mind there are only three too.

        • +4

          @tight-a55:
          Woosh

        • +1

True. Those first three had such horrible special effects, but luckily something is being done about that!

    • restored properly

With Disney, this could go a few different ways…

    • +1

Update: Steer clear of this $84 copy - DO steer towards the Harmy edit.

    • Thank you, I was going to go searching the web for such a thing and you hand it to me on a plate :)

    • Thanks for making me aware of the despecialized edition - I have the original theatrical release DVDs but it will be good to see the true original versions in HD.

    • Watched the Harmy edit of the first Star Wars the other night. Absolutely brilliant!

  • Paid $88 from dse 2 years ago =\

    • Paid $79 last xmas @ JB HiFi

  • What's the difference between these and the special edition steel box ones?

    • You get a bonus disc in the 6 movie box set you don't get if you buy the two steel boxes

  • Paid $25 when Myer's got out of movies and music.

  • Pretty sure I bought it for less off Amazon about 2 years ago…

I love Star Wars. I knew this post would get a debate over the original/modified versions. It's Star Wars, just sit back and enjoy.

  • Sale price ends on the 8th of September.

  • Nothing will ever beat the price my brothers GF got it for at launch cause it was mislabelled at Coles. I think she paid $30 or something.

  • +1

Enhanced or not regardless still a good movie, remaster like there's to much of a diffence, if your a true fan of the trilogy, you only admire the original form of it, best leave it untouched.

    • +1

There's actually a HUGE difference between this version of the OT and the original cinematic release. It's one thing to release a substandard prequel trilogy, but Jorge actually went back to retroactively screw up the originals too with these new bizarre edits.

I'm not just talking about Vader's "NOOOOO!!!" or Hayden Christensen in ROTJ, the new versions aren't even technically sound. There's all sorts of weird artefacting with the lightsaber special effects, the colour saturation was turned up to 11 so (human) extras wind up looking like Dr Zoidberg (Google 'Star Wars Lobster Man').

      • +1

Honestly, I think it's some severe knit picking tbh. I've been a fan since I was a kid and I enjoy the newer versions, I know where the changes are and I (to my wife's annoyance) point them out every time but it's not because I hate them, it's just because I've seen the movies so much. There's no problem for me seeing HC's ghost in RoTJ, it fits the story after all.

        • +2

I'm sort of in the same boat, beakeroo. However I feel like if you're going to mess around with the film in such a way, at least keep the original versions readily available. The bit that annoys me so much, is the only way to properly watch the original movies is to watch a fanedit (that I have only just discovered today due to hamwhisperer's comment above and am EXTREMELY keen to see).

  • It's a pretty good deal but not as good as a free "BABY ON BOARD" sign or a free 5ml sample of tomato sauce.

  • +1 Good price for this set!

    • Yes, but this time it's less of a bargain & has more + votes. Go figure!

  • It's a good deal for this specific product so I'll give it a +1. However I'm not buying until I can get a set with all versions rather than just the new ones.

    • +1

This has all 6 movies, dude. So go ahead and buy it.

      • This does not have all versions of the movies.

        • +2

          You two have crossed wires.
Versions of movies (as in pre-edited/remastered versions) vs. All of the movies (1-6)

        • I'm not expressing myself very well either. What I mean to say is "Editions of the movies".

  • Those red tickets mention when the deal ends stated on the bottom right. So therefore this deal ends on the 8th September
