Hi folks, I just picked up one of these from JB Hifi.

These puppies have a RRP of $1,999 - JB Hifi have them for $992! (+ $25 postage)

I know lots of people don't particularly like Sony gear, but for this price it really is a steal. I think this decodes Dolby True HD & DTS HD onboard and am sure that it upscales & upconverts composite/component to 1080p via HDMI.

This is a good $400-500 less than COST price from the Sony wholesalers here in SA…

Stock is extremely limited.. In fact, JB Hifi changed the image the other night to "DELETED" and then changed it back again when they (possibly?) got more stock..

EDIT Oh, note that it says ESB which is the Black version - I picked up a Silver version for the same price..

    for $992 this is definitely one bang for buck amplifier! I don't think anyone can sell an amp with these specs for under a grand

      Actually, they are more than just an amp- they are AV receiver, and yes, like you said, they are surely a bargain at this price!

    These are really great receivers- especially if you have a Blu-Ray player.
    Recommended.
    I have a Sony STRDA5400ESB, which is an more advanced version with multiple output and six HDMI inputs.
    Not too much better, esp if you do not intend to use multiple video outputs at the same time.
    At this price, they are a steal,

    Yep, I wandered in to a JB store and picked my Silver one up. I'd say it's definitely worth calling around the local JB stores to find out if they have any stock left!
