      Are they still functional? IMO hard to justify upgrade unless you got cash to burn. (I own 2 set of xm5)

        It still works perfectly which stopped me considering upgrading in the last couple of years. With those anc earbuds becoming better over the years, I don't really use the xm3 as much as before.

          If they work fine, then no, don't bother.

          I just upgraded my broken XM3 to XM5 through the Sony upgrade program for around $300 ($325 upgrade but added $26 headphones to trigger $50 Amex statement credit). I find the XM5 more comfortable but the XM3s definitely feel sturdier and have the foldability.

      I also own a XM3 currently held together by duct tape but till functioning.

      Based on my research, I might go for the XM4 (and only because of the ducttape), where it seems to have been a decent upgrade to XM3. Seems most people hated the XM5 because it felt like a downgrade from the XM4 (losing foldability, more fragile, more issues, sound quality etc).

      XM6 seems amazing but out of my budget.

    I tried the xm5 and was incredibly disappointed coming from an xm2 for 5 years. I bought the xm4 which has the same band as the xm2 and will never go back to that new band style that sucks and hurts my head in xm5-6

      I used the XM6 during my recent long flight to Europe, and it didn’t hurt my ears.

    With ebay plus you can get the XM4s here for $210.91 or the XM5s here for $310.81 with codes SONYEOFY15 and TOPTOP. They are seconds and not brand new but you still get a warranty from Sony.
