$139 Folding Bike @ Aldi Starts 21st September

190

A great buy for those wanting the most efficient way of getting about. Being foldable means could potentially take this with you on trams and buses as hand luggage, though don't quote me on that one. Bargain price means don't expect Brompton features or quality.

Folding Bike specs:

  • 6 speed Shimano revo shifters
  • Shimano rear derailleur
  • alloy rims
  • 98% assembled
  • luggage rack and mudguards
  • available in Black or Gun Metal
  • includes heavy duty carry bag
  • 1 year warranty
  • limited stock in store

This bike looks like mine bought from Super Cheap Auto earlier this year for $142. Probably made by the same Chinese manufacturer, mine rebadged to SCA in-house brand and this Aldi one is Crane. The one thing not so good is the weight, feels like ~20kg, due to its steel frame. Anaconda has their folding bike for sale $199 and that one is only 12kg due to alloy frame.

    • What's the link to Anaconda's folding bike? Thanks.

      • Sorry just checked Anaconda website, that $199 on sale folding bike is not listed anymore. Was still there last week, probably sold out for the time being :(

  • Frame looks like one of Dahon licensed models.
Dahon makes OEM cheap bikes for budget markets.

Aldi's first bike, the BEND-R was one of them, their second one wasn't

I quoted you and got kicked off the tram.

  • Being foldable means could potentially take this with you on trams and buses as hand luggage

  • Would be nice to know the weight and gear range.

Also, be sure the seat goes high enough. Some sold by Anaconda and other places had seat-posts too short for the average male.

  • These small-wheeled bikes are really popular in Japan and Korea. I think they refer them as 'mini velos' and they're good for cycling especially in dense urban areas.

However I'm more interested in this:

    • Hey, i didn't know about them.
They've got quite a lot of stuff going on.

  • Was 10 dollars cheaper last year

and if you need more information about the bike … Link above

  • how much is the helmet?

    • do I dare dig up my vintage mint black stackhat circa 1988? Only worn once (naturally)

  • Does the 60 day returns policy apply (at least if I haven't opened it?) Seems like a good deal but still have doubts.. grr

  • Hmm.. everyone sleep in? lol

Got a silver one and they went pretty quick.. as of 10:20am still one left at Chapel St VIC
